I think Rosemary and Dorothy are lovely names.

Derek will never come back in fashion, it's awful.

I had five elderly aunts. Gertrude, Bettina, Mona, Violet and Constance, all long dead.

I guess my grandmother had a sense of humour. Hmm

alphajuliet123 · 15/01/2020 22:39

Dean, Darren, Gary
Sharon, Tracey, Paula

At some point 70's names have to come back though - Claire, Louise, Helen, Joanne, Chris, Michael, Stephen (just going by most popular names when I was at school in the 80's/90's)

What do you reckon the turnaround gap is, 80-100 years or so?

SunshineDays2019 · 15/01/2020 22:39

Loving all these but can't believe there are baby Percy's about! Cute in some ways, but a moody teen called Percy?!
Cuthbert, lol!
So many of these names were the norm when I was at school in 1970's/early 80's. I was in love with a boy called Brian at primary school! Grin

Gubnait

Is that autocorrect?

AGnu · 15/01/2020 22:40

I know a young Derek. He's probably around 4 now, I think.

Can't see Brenda making the top 10 any time soon!

Hepzibah is my "if only I were braver" baby name. I'd call her Zizi for short.

Sleepforever · 15/01/2020 22:40

Madein1995 Arthur is currently 14th in top 100 names - already made a comeback

Re:
Dorothy
Margaret
Vicky

All of them are current. It's Victoria on the BC and Maggie/Dottie as a nn, but all still used.

Alan is popular in Eastern Europe, so there's still babies in the UK being named that. Likewise a few of the other names.

Beryl, Basil, Neville, Walter, Horace.
