Fanny

Few Richards are called Dick these days!

Violet (lovely name but too much risk of it being spelled 'Violent')

I think most of the others could come back. Arthur is making a comeback already - I've met several small boys with that name.

I can remember as a child in the 90's thinking names like Millie, Lily, Rosie, Ivy, May, Charlie, Freddie, Bobby, Henry etc were elderly person names. My DM worked in an old peoples home and lots of the residents ( aged mostly in their 80's and 90's) had those names. Now they are all the rage again. Names go in cycles.

I work in a primary school and over the last few years have come across a Doris, an Iris, a Rita and several Elsie's. Rita was presumably after Rita Ora, but before she came along I always associated as an older lady name, mainly because of Rita from Coronation Street! Some has mentioned Mabel/Mable. But there is now a pop singer called Mabel as well.

My sister once dated a guy called Aubrey. I think she dumped him because we teased her so much.

I've not read the entire thread, I'm assuming Fanny and Dick have already been mentioned? Oh and Willy 😁

EducatingArti · 17/01/2020 20:05

I know babies called Julia and Catherine and a 4 year old David.

Jessicafirsttimer · 17/01/2020 20:11

I know a Percy and a Thaddeus. Both under 10yrs old. Poor buggers.

SweetMarmalade · 17/01/2020 20:11

My name’s been mentioned a few times. I’ve learned to live with it over the years. There was probably only a couple of others with the same name at school.

SweetMarmalade · 17/01/2020 20:15

Popular names during my school days were Trac(e)y, Sharon (loads of them) Julie, Clare/Claire, Mandy/Amanda, Debra, Michelle, Louise, Joanne/a

Nimmykins · 17/01/2020 20:16

I have a Winifred and know of three more under seven.

I think Barry, Clive, Gary, Tracy and Sharon won’t be back for a long time.

DuckonaBike · 17/01/2020 20:19

I have an Edith! Also like Arthur, Maud and Malcolm.

I reckon Maggie will come back once there has been enough time for people to forget Thatcher.
