Whatever you call it he is just vile, but then he has the queen and Phillip as parents.

I think this whole episode with H and M who just want to create a life for Archie where he can grow up, happy, not under the spotlight, mentally healthy, shows how ruthless the queen is.

Does she want what's best for her grandson and greatgrandson or what's best for her business the monarchy?

She might have sacrificed her role as a mother and therefore also her family for the institution but that was her choice. She can't expect Harry or any other royal to make the same choice, especially if for them it's family before monarchy.

Frenchw1fe · 11/01/2020 08:48

Anyone else think Meghan is pregnant again?

dimsum123 · 11/01/2020 08:50

The negative is aimed at the queen and Phillip not her children.

The fact that 3 of them are divorced shows just how dysfunctional the royal family is. Being unable to form healthy adult relationships is due to insecure childhood attachments with parents.

The queen always put her duty and country before her family and her children and there's always a price to pay if you do that.

DevonUkelele · 11/01/2020 08:52

Anyone else think Meghan is pregnant again?

Yep

diddl · 11/01/2020 08:55

I think HM & PP are products of their time & status though.

I'm sure other parents shipped their kids back to UK to boarding school for months at a time for example.

Perhaps PP could have stepped up more though so that there was one involved parent when they were around?

Or maybe he did more than is known?

Housewife2010 · 11/01/2020 08:56

I don't think Meghan is pregnant; she looks much slimmer than she did before her Canada trip.

diddl · 11/01/2020 09:00

"Anyone else think Meghan is pregnant again?"

Me too.

Although the whole thing is being handled badly & it seems that they want to cash in on who they are rather than work as such, I think realistically the child(ren) need bringing up with a chance to have a life where they can work & provide for themselves.

It's got to happen at some point that they can't keep getting money from the Monarch.

Would George be expected to keep Archie & his family for example?

And they can no longer all rely on marrying money!

dimsum123 · 11/01/2020 09:04

@diddl and those DCs probably have issues too. I certainly know a few of them myself.

I think it's so awful that the queen and charles only seem to care about what's best for the monarchy not what's best for their child/grandchild.

If they wanted H and M and Archie to be happy surely they'd be supportive?

Roussette · 11/01/2020 09:07

I haven't posted on any of the numerous threads on this yet...

But my view is... good on them. When the Queen dies, it is all going to change drastically anyway. Harry is only 8th in line to the throne or something so why should he not put his family first? Over the last few years I have seen the vitriol directed at them and particularly her right from day one. I'm not surprised in the slightest he/they are thinking... we have had enough.

Unfortunately she is getting a pasting everywhere, it's been relentless and it's going to carry on until they can disappear somewhat.

Dementedmagpie · 11/01/2020 09:08

Obviously we can only speculate on what we read/see/hear in the media as I very much doubt many, of any of us has personal knowledge of their situation.
I can understand them feeling overwhelmed by the scrutiny of being members of the RF, but not sure about wanting to live a quiet life out of the spotlight. She chose a career that put herself in the spotlight (admittedly Harry didn't have any choice) and they invited hordes of big name celebrities to their wedding. Fine if all of them were genuine close friends but if a royal wedding is not enough to put you in the spotlight inviting a load of A listers is going to make it even more of an event.

hamstersarse · 11/01/2020 09:08

It’s probably already been said on the other thread...

Harry is the spare heir, he really has no purpose in the RF and he’s a bright energetic type of guy who will need some purpose. On top of that his own childhood and the circumstances of the death of his mother are not what he would want for Meghan and Archie. He clearly loves Meghan intensely.

I think Meghan has good boundaries and is pretty courageous. She also seems to be the type of person who really gets that life is short. Yes, she could do a Kate and paste on the smiles, but it would make her unhappy, very unhappy. So if what it takes is to remove herself from this, so be it.

I get where she’s coming from - why subject yourself to it? I’m sure she was being truthful when she said she naively thought she could handle it, then the reality hit.

WineOrGinOrBoth · 11/01/2020 09:09

How do you know they aren’t supportive or concerned for them all? Just because two narcissistic people are behaving like toddlers?? Wanting everything their own way.

Also I don’t blame them for putting duty first - it was a different time.

Dementedmagpie · 11/01/2020 09:09

I also think it would have been more respectful to finalise discussions with the Queen and RF before making an announcement

WineOrGinOrBoth · 11/01/2020 09:12

Rubbish - they want to control the narrative. Only good things said about us please. Harry always had great press. What a shame & how sad that guy didn’t have the courage & courtesy to tell your father & grandmother That you were announcing to the world. Yes really shy & retiring!

diddl · 11/01/2020 09:15

I don't think that they do only care about the monarchy-I'm sure they also care about Harry.

I think the reason that William & Kate both do so little is that both HM & Charles see the importance of them being with their family which they both missed out on.

SF1269 · 11/01/2020 09:19

"Anyone else think Meghan is pregnant again?"

I thought her face looked changed in the video from the Canada House news reports, I couldn't put my finger on it, but now I wonder if it is because its fuller due to pregnancy.

I honestly can't see the issue.

I can well imagine Harry is fed up with UK life and the royals.
He has his own family now and I'm sure he wants to simply live differently.

Roussette · 11/01/2020 09:35

Totally agree joyful.

I honestly think we will look back in decades to come and this will be the moment when the RF changes. In a good way.
They can't go on as they are. Public opinion has changed. As soon as Queen & PP pop off, I think there will be dramatic changes for the good. Other European countries manage it, why can't we? There are too many of them, too much secrecy, too many courtiers controlling the agenda.
Good on Harry & Meghan.

As much as the Queen has dedicated her life to the country blah blah.. nothing will change whilst she is alive, she rules with an iron fist.

Roussette · 11/01/2020 09:37

I also don't get the vitriolic indignation about their decision.

PA and his ghastly family have been trading on the royal name for decades.Whilst doing their own thing. And for there to be more press about this than what he's been up to is ridiculous.

BlackCatSleeping · 11/01/2020 09:39

I still remember the whole huge fuss after Diana died. So much was supposed to change then. I’m sure some stuff did but I don’t know if the changes were earth shattering.

It will be interesting to see what happens next.

PuttingouttheFirewithGasoline · 11/01/2020 09:53

Gilead indeed.

The queen's focus on William and Kate must have hurt Harry, it was their photos on her desk during her queen's speech and the endless photos of the monarch released with George and William...

Even with a stable family, support, any no 2 who will not inherit is bound to feel a little pushed out but its been crazy this Xmas!!

Look at it this way. Harry and Megan rightly or wrongly come under fire for using private jets and preaching to us not to.

Megan has endured endless negative media from deranged relatives.

Why doesn't the Queen support them with at least having their photo on her desk during her speech?

She has steadfastly and endlessly supported her slimy son Andrew in his hugely damaging dealings with pedophiles. She sat next to him in the car.... Out horse riding etc.

She has made her personal feelings clear.

But she can't put photos on a desk to support... Slightly off kilter heart in the right place but patronising Harry and megs??

I also read Megan is disgusted by Andrews dalliances...it must stick in the craw that she's been vilified possibly by these people...

bullyingadvice2017 · 11/01/2020 09:57

I'm sure I would not be having my child grow up in a family with a uncle knobhead like Andrew that they seem to be expected to sweep under the carpet. I think it says a lot about a family that makes such a fuss over them wanting to move away, publicly shaming them whilst keeping him in the fold.

hamstersarse · 11/01/2020 10:00

....and let’s not forget Williams alleged extra marital dalliances. I’m sure Meghan didn’t approve of that and refused to be part of a culture that expects her to suck just it up like Kate

Rainbowqueeen · 11/01/2020 10:01

For everyone talking about the photos on the Queens desk during her speech they change every year. The year H and M got married, there was a photo of them but not one of William and Kate.
I highly doubt that H and M were offended by the photos this year

Personally I agree that what they are doing is the right thing for them but I don’t agree with how it has been handled. It seems a lot of people are to blame for that and not just members of the royal family.
