As I said to Patti

Scuse me ..since when do I need to ask your permission to have an opinion .
This is a thread about Prince Harry you know..if you don’t like it..you can always abdicat

abdicat
Dowser I'm imagining it losing a letter every time you cut and paste until there are no letters left Grin

Anne works incredibly hard. She always has done. It's interesting she didn't succumb to the curse of 'my life has no purpose since I'm not the monarch-in-waiting' . I can't decide if that's because she's female and hence was much less likely to rise to the throne or if it's just her personality.

The current issue with Harry keeps reminding me of the scene in The Crown where Prince Philip says to the Queen there's always the ones who are steady and the ones who are prone to drama - it runs through your family.

Dowser · 16/01/2020 11:00

Yes, lord of the whys, I have a lot of respect for Anne
She is patron of a charity where I was a trustee and at one of our anniversary meetings she gave an excellent speech and I was very impressed with her knowledge...and Seeing her for the first time in real life...I was quite surprised at how tiny she is.

It’s the same negative opinion over and over again Dowser and take note it is your opinion only. Saying it does not make it a fact. You are showing yourself up.

I will leave with a quote from Eleanor Roosevelt.

Great minds discuss ideas; average minds discuss events; small minds discuss people.

FairyLightsAreMyCrack · 16/01/2020 11:17

Great minds discuss ideas; average minds discuss events; small minds discuss people.

...and teeny tiny minds discuss opinions given in tabloids Grin

LordOfTheWhys · 16/01/2020 11:27

Great minds discuss ideas; average minds discuss events; small minds discuss people
This thread discusses all three so we must have a mix of all types of minds Grin
No need to put yourself down, Patti. I'm sure you're capable of discussing the ideas of service/duty, etc and not limited to discussing the other posters/people on the thread (even though that seems to be your focus atm).

JulietJanuary · 16/01/2020 11:37

Don't read stuff you despise. It|'s corrosive to happiness.

Inkanta · 16/01/2020 12:15

It’ll be interesting to see what support Prince Andrew gets today on his official duty.
It does make me wonder how they spend their free time.
Where is he staying? Is he rattling round Frogmore on his own. Missing his baby and wife?

Do you mean Prince Harry Dowser?
Expect he will be missing his wife and baby.

LordOfTheWhys · 16/01/2020 16:21

Maybe he'll be packing or organising packing. They can't have taken enough to Canada for six months. Someone would have noticed.

TrixieFranklin · 16/01/2020 23:53

Daily Mail reporting staff being let go at Frogmore, or at least permanent staff being moved to other estates and temporary contracts (chefs..etc) being closed.

beanaseireann · 17/01/2020 07:30

I think it's sad that Harry appears to have "burnt his bridges" with his family (William, Kate, his cousins, nephews, niece, grandparents and perhaps his Dad etc) and there's a wee baby in the mix. All played out in public.
Not good for anyone's mental health. Sad

beachcomber70 · 17/01/2020 09:53

Harry isn't the brightest tool in the toolbox. So he hasn't thought out the consequences at all, blindly being led by the nose. He will see the light one day.
It's Archie I feel for, does he see much of his parents at all? As they go on their self obsessed, entitled way casting all aside.

beanaseireann · 17/01/2020 10:32

beachcomber70
Sad

LordOfTheWhys · 17/01/2020 10:55

I imagine Archie sees as much of his parents as any child with working parents and childcare. Confused I don't think anyone needs to feel sorry for him.

beanaseireann · 17/01/2020 12:21

Well he won't see his cousins on his father's side because there has been a falling out and he won't see his half cousin's on his mother's side because there has been a falling out.
I think that's sad for any child.

AutumnRose1 · 17/01/2020 12:42

bean I have loads of family if you count those sorts of people. My parents worked hard to protect me from them. After dad died, I’ve had contact, and boy, can I see why. Well I sort of knew already.

If Archie grows up with chosen friends and family, great.

Housewife2010 · 17/01/2020 16:12

Royal engagements are planned months in advance. Did Harry & Meghan have theirs cancelled for the last couple of months and for the future or was nothing planned?

AutumnRose1 · 17/01/2020 19:00

I would imagine it’s all planned and will be covered by other Royals. Not sure how long maternity leave was though, but surely there’ll have been stuff planned after that.

Dowser · 17/01/2020 22:55

Do you mean Prince Harry Dowser?

Ooops..yes I did. Apologies for that.

They are dropping the HRH titles. They really have stepped back.

And repaying the refurbishment costs of Frogmore Cottage

TrixieFranklin · 18/01/2020 18:57

And no more public funding Wine

Dowser · 18/01/2020 19:29

What about security?

OP posts:
TrixieFranklin · 18/01/2020 21:17

It says:

Buckingham Palace does not comment on the details of security arrangements. There are well established independent processes to determine the need for publicly-funded security.

Dowser · 18/01/2020 21:36

Ah ok
Well I wish them well. I really do. She’s a stunning woman, he’s a handsome man. They seem to love one another a lot with a beautiful baby To boot...
Hope they make it work.
