I haven't ever met any famous people.

OP posts:
LollipopViolet · 04/01/2020 07:24

Two of the Dancing on Ice pro skaters - Vanessa and Hamish. Both lovely. Met them twice and the first time they judged an in house competition at my rink, and complimented me on my skating. Also did two of their skate camps.
Karen Courtland Kelly - former US Olympic pairs skater, at a competition I attended. She did a workshop after and me and another lady basically had a private skating lesson with her. Lovely lady and a great teacher.
Shane Meadows - at an industry event, he was lovely too.

GuyFawkesDay · 04/01/2020 09:09

Lots of big stars are pretty chilled on set.

My relative has work on all the crown series and tells me Greg Wise is lovely: rakish, charming, funny. Matt Smith is just lovely, as is Olivia Colman and Helena Bonham Carter too. Many eat with the crew. You become friendly when you spend 12hrs a day on set together at close quarters.

PuddleglumtheMarshWiggle · 04/01/2020 09:36

Jeff Goldblum - VERY tall
Paul Michael Glaser - my hero when I was a teenager. Seemed very distant, wasn't sure if he was tired, shy of stand-offish.
Professor Lord Robert Winston - polite, charming, friendly, such a lovely man
Alan Bennett - asked me for directions. Very nice but not a good choice in ties 😁
Ken Dodd -I was about 4 years old and he was signing autographs in the street
Ginger Rogers - at a book signing
J.K. Rowling - also at a book signing
Michael Crawford - after a performance of Barnum

BearSoFair · 04/01/2020 09:36

Gwendoline Christie - lovely
Jacqueline Wilson - odd but nice
Sean Pertwee - seemed fed up but it was end of a long day at a convention
John Barrowman - OTT but charming and funny
Frank Turner - lovely
Ed Petrie - surprisingly rude humour!
Arthur Darvill - quiet but nice
Greg Proops - very nice
Paul O'Grady - very brief but as he was offering to get MIL something from the top shelf in Waitrose, I'll say very nice!

BearSoFair · 04/01/2020 09:37

Oh also David Miliband - squeezed onto an airport shuttle next to us and was apologising that his sons were overexcited

billysboy · 04/01/2020 09:43

Madonna - she came up for an afternoon to ride horses at our place

Princess Royal - fantastic Lady

Zara and Mike Tindal

Steve Kemp and Shirley were in the pub sat at table behind us the other week and Torvill and Dean were in the wine bar just before xmas , the guy behind the bar had no clue who they were as he is 22 , made us feel very old

I used to date a kind of ‘celeb’ I guess, so I met a lot of people through him.

I went to the Brits and after party last year, so there were lots of people. I went to the Graham Norton show when my partner was a guest, all the other guests were really nice but Cate Blanchett and Helena Bonham Carter were particularly nice.

edgewater · 04/01/2020 10:01

Bob Geldof on a flight to London.

Rude, horrible, arrogant, smelly man who picked his ear hair and ate it.

DrivingMsCrazy · 04/01/2020 11:58

@FartyFenella Alan Rickman is the one person I really really wish I could have met before he passed away. I'm so glad to hear another story of him being lovely - all the tales I've heard have been similar. 🥰

Violetparis · 04/01/2020 12:06

Paula Radcliffe in a queue at Nice airport. She was lovely and chatty to those around her, we were all moaning about waiting and not being told what was going on. She had two lovely children with her and spoke excellent French to the airport staff.

SmellMySmellbow · 04/01/2020 12:11

Alice Cooper, Jackie Chan, Andrew Lincoln, Brian Eno, spoken to all of Coldplay and Gwyneth Paltrow on the phone... erm lots more but struggling to remember... The Krankies! Grin

Dowser · 04/01/2020 12:20

Princess Anne...she is also tiny
Princess Margaret
Gary lineker and then wife daniellebux who was lovely
Joe mcgann
The Queen
Liam Howlett from prodigy
I like Warwick davies..I like his humour..I hope he’s as nice in real life

Dowser · 04/01/2020 12:24

Comedian patrick Monaghan is especially lovely and tries to give as many people in the audience a hug if he can

PrincessHoneysuckle · 04/01/2020 12:33

Peter Barlow from Coronation street about 20 years ago in a nightclub

DrivingMsCrazy · 04/01/2020 12:38

Billy Connolly - yes he was hilarious, and lovely and down to earth, very good at putting star struck fans at ease and just great company. Taller than I imagined.

Sharleen Spiteri (Texas) also very lovely, funny and down to earth. Also stunning close up.

Hermione Norris (Cold Feet) pleasant polite but quite reserved, did not seem to be an "ott lovey" type at all. Absolutely beautiful skin and very well dressed.

Christian Slater laid back, sardonic, charming. And yes, as is often said of A list Hollywood very short but perfectly formed.

Michael Palin. Such a gent and all round wonderful human being.

And now the bad ...

Phil Jupitus. Arse. Arrogant and rather desperate to get off with anybody he could find. Quite sleazy.

Gabby Logan - urgh. Very "don't you know who I am". Deeply unpleasant. Her husband Kenny (ex Scotland rugby player) seems to be a much nicer character but totally under her thumb poor chap.

Dougray Scott - rude, entitled and aggressive. Seemed an insecure and unhappy man when I met him. Hopefully his life has got better since.

Ginfordinner · 04/01/2020 12:40

Kirsty MacColl - she went to my school
Bob Wilson (former Scotland International football player) - came to do a talk at an open day where I worked. He was lovely
Ken Hom - at a book signing - he was lovely
James Martin - at a food festival. Had my picture taken with him and had a recipe book signed. He wasn't very friendly
Nadiya Hussein - at a book signing at a food festival - she was really lovely
Mary Berry - at a book signing. She was too busy signing too many books to be able to say or do anything other than book signing

The Hairy Bikers at various events
Kate Rusby - she lives near me
Geoffrey Boycott - a rude and arrogant man
Ashley Jackson - he was lovely
Alexander Armstrong - or rather his dad (who is lovely). His dad was MIL's GP, and we have seen Alexander Armstrong in the village when he has been home to visit his family

DH sat on a plane near David Dickinson, and said he behaved like a self entitled tosser who was rude to the flight attendants.

wonkylegs · 04/01/2020 13:06

Strangely quite a few, partially due to work connections
The most famous being
Seal
Janet Jackson
Red hot chilli peppers
Cher
Carmen Electra
Cristiano Ronaldo
Alan Shearer
Jack Charlton
Jeremy Gusgott
Ant & Dec

John Rocha
Michael McIntyre (he was trying to blend with the group in but his voice gave him away)
John Major
Peter Gabriel

I was sick on two of these people (food poisoning and as a baby)

KindnessCrusader · 04/01/2020 13:06

Theresa May, lots of times. Vile policies, very nice (and PAINFULLY awkward) woman.

wonkylegs · 04/01/2020 13:11

Oh and I had a fantastic drinking session with Pete Postlethwaite - he was so funny & told fantastic stories all night

LesLavandes · 04/01/2020 13:47
