New thread for a new year!

A diary thread for our daily meals, to record, share, glean menu inspiration and chat, but no judging each other’s food choices.

Let’s include some recipe-sharing in this thread Smile

Two fried egg sandwiches with Gouda cheese and soured cream. So 4 slices of white. That was lunch.

Another cheese sarny just now with cucumber.

Will have haddock spuds leaks and sour cream for dinner washed down with Stella later, then probably raid the chocolate supplies just before bedSmile

SallyWD · 10/02/2020 18:01

Roast butternut squash chips sound good, Geneva. Are they like wedges or are they more like fries, and if the latter, how do you make them? Do they not go soggy?

Ran 4 miles (recovery day after 17 miles in that fucking storm yesterday) and light upper body strength exercises

pallisers · 11/02/2020 00:10

weird day. I had coffee and then pretty much nothing ... until now when I am about to have steak, chips, blue cheese sauce, fried pickles and ancho dressing!

AwkwardSquad · 11/02/2020 05:12

@lastqueenofscotland recovery day after 17 miles in that fucking storm yesterday

Bloody hell, out running in the storm! Did you at least have a tailwind to speed you up, like that transatlantic jet?

OP posts:
AwkwardSquad · 11/02/2020 05:17

@pallisers that’s one hell of a midnight snack, I’m impressed! Unless of course you’re somewhere with a time difference and you were actually having it at a normal dinner time. I prefer to think of you eating a full steak dinner your pjs by candlelight, in the depth of the night, though. It’s more literary, somehow Grin

OP posts:
lastqueenofscotland · 11/02/2020 10:31

@AwkwardSquad I did for the first 10 miles then the headwind from hell all the way home

RockyisMYRhino · 11/02/2020 12:50

Thanks @AwkwardSquad keeping my fingers crossed it doesn't get any worse so I have to go to the docs for antibiotics - dragging a 2yo there is no fun at all!

I had the usual oats etc today and sausage casserole for lunch. Will be making spaghetti bolognese for dinner which I'll eat after bootcamp tonight (am forcing myself to go as it's the one session I can definitely get to as DMIL will be here to look after DS before DH gets home from work - the other sessions are a bit hit and miss depending when he gets home)

pallisers · 11/02/2020 13:40

I'm in a different time zone Awkward :) But I was in my pjs!

mamaduckbone · 11/02/2020 17:54

I was a sometime contributor to the previous 2 threads and would like to jump back in as I've fallen spectacularly off the wagon over Christmas and through January so need to be a bit mindful, and hopefully get a few new ideas too as we've got into a bit of a menu rut.
Today:
B: Muesli with orange juice and Greek yoghurt
Snack - banana
L: tomato and lentil soup
Snack - almonds and raisins
D: will be prawn and pea risotto.

WhereShallWeMoveTo · 11/02/2020 18:32

Black coffee first thing.

Breakfast: 2 Eggs Benedict with smoked salmon but no muffins. More coffee.

Lunch: A couple of cubes of feta, about 5 or 6 walnuts and hazelnuts, a small tomato, 3 olives.

Afternoon snack: A very low carb snack bar and 2 teaspoons of peanut butter.

Dinner (early) Some chargrilled chicken with some grilled onion, tomato and chopped parsley, with a dollop of baba ganoush and some Iranian pickles.

A cup of herbal tea
2 glasses of sugar free squash

No wine for me for the last four evenings. I'm trying to knock the weeknight wine on the head.

Toomuchtooyoung01 · 11/02/2020 18:40

Fruit and fibre for breakfast
Ham and cheese sandwich for lunch with an apple, a banana and a mini choc bar
Having tacos for dinner

AwkwardSquad · 11/02/2020 19:08

Hi mamaduckbone 👋🏽 I want to make some new recipes too. I think I’ll go back to an old favourite this weekend that I haven’t made for ages but do a new side dish to go with it. Coconut chana saag with Pondicherry toast, both from the Guardian.

lastqueenofscotland the tailwind probably didn’t make up for the headwind... but at least you must have earned an ENORMOUS dinner after that!

Rocky bootcamp!? Kill or cure?

Pallisers pjs are always suitable dinner attire, in my book. Well, when one is at home, at least.

Today’s meals:
B - usual with an extra kiwi (vitamin C, innit)
An oatcake
L - cottage cheese salad (Longley Farm, of course), a pear and some grapes
Three cheese straws
D - chestnut roast, braised cabbage, beetroot and salad; two pistachio macaroons

OP posts:
Fenlandmountainrescue · 11/02/2020 19:47
