New thread for a new year!

A diary thread for our daily meals, to record, share, glean menu inspiration and chat, but no judging each other’s food choices.

Yesterday...
B: Greek yogurt, banana, raspberries, chopped nuts
Toast with almond butter
L: falafel, hummus, slice of beef, rocket, cous cous, small bowl of carrot & coriander soup (using up bits from the fridge)
4 dark chocolate biscuits throughout the day!
A small shot of whisky at 4pm 😳(in my defense, I'm in lockdown with a 3 year old and a 10 month old)
D: chilli, wedges and green beans
Crackers with wensleydale before bed

Strong tea with milk and sugar
The last of the porridge
A dried apricot, a few raisins
Chicken soup from the freezer
A tahini honey cookie, more tea
Cauliflower 'wings' with gochujang sauce
Beck's blue and some olives

Breakfast - Weetabix & milk
Lunch - Ham salad sandwich
Snack Chocolate crispy cake
Dinner - leftover turkey steak, potato croquettes, beans. Dd and dh had salmon, packet rice & spinach
Treat - 2 Lindor chocolates.

B - Caffe latte, my daughter's leftover porridge
S - tahini honey cookie, square dark chocolate
L - leeks in cheese sauce on toast
S - cup strong tea with milk and sugar, another square chocolate
D - beef stew made with red wine, turnips, carrots, mushrooms, Swedes. A clementine abandoned by my daughter
S - square dark chocolate.

Currently drinking a Beck's blue (n/a) and eating two green olives and two kalamatas.

Busy NHS employee:

B - nothing, too busy at work
L - yoghurt and muesli id brought in for breakfast
D - veggie burger and wedges my lovely husband had made me when I got in at 7.45.
S - I've just had a hot chocolate and scone

Tea with semi skimmed x 2.

A toasted hot cross bun with butter.

A fried egg sandwich on wholemeal with brown sauce. White coffee with 1 tsp sugar.

Home made chilli con carne and rice.

A fizzy vitamin C drink.

Brunch - Bacon, beans, oatcakes (wish I could get tinned tomatoes)
Snack - Chocolate crispy cake
Dinner - Ds & I had fisfingers, jacket potato & veg. Dd & dh had Quorn marinated in lemon and herb sauce, stir fry veg & udon noodles.

L: chicken roll, salad, coleslaw. Grapes and yoghurt.
S: mini magnum
D: lasagne with roasted courgette and tenderstem broccoli

B toast and butter
L crustless quiche, banana, rice cakes and almond butter
D will be some GF Sainsburys spinach and ricotta tortellini (a subsitution for the gf pumpkin tortellini I wanted. Not complaining though as finally got a delivery!). And a salad.
Bad hayfever so not much cooking beyond reheating. My zoom meetings have involved me coughing and sputtering, which took some explaining.

L- itsu katsu instant noodles
S- popchips, mini malteser bunny
D- three bean chilli and wholegrain rice
S- screwball ice cream, hot cross bun and peanut butter

Porridge with raisins, at the request of my daughter, who didn't eat any in the end (sigh)

Caffe latte with UHT milk :(

2 squares dark chocolate

Crispy Vietnamese beef (leftovers) with a few spoons of rice, plus cucumber, cherry tomato, sliced carrots, and green onion

Strong black tea with milk and sugar. A spoonful of peanut butter and a dried apricot

A pack of deli ham that was going to go off (daughter again refused to eat any of it), 6 Finn Crisps, mustard, cucumber, cherry tomatoes

Today I’ve had a breakfast Keto muffin, a detox tea, 2l of water and 2 cups of tea.

L was cheese and ham sandwich (at work as no cooking facilities)

And evening meal is quiche (salmon, broccoli, asparagus and pea) lighter life crust base x

Been a bit decadent today since I discovered the local corner shop has eggs in

Brunch - Scrambled egg & beans on toast (3 rounds, 1 egg 3 spoons beans)
Snack - Half a chocolate cake slice
Dinner - Griddled turkey steak, cous cous, spinach, griddled pepper (half a leftover one) cherry tomatoes.
Glass of wine & chocolate cornflake/mini egg cluster cake

B: two slices of toast with peanut butter
L: carrot and lentil soup, ham and soft cheese wrap, piece of leftover quiche, and tomatoes
S: chocolate biscuit
D: chicken korma & rice with poppadoms and mango chutney.

I'll have some dark chocolate or a hot chocolate later

Brunch - bacon, scrambled egg bagel
Dinner - Chicken breast, roast potatoes, peas, carrots, brocolli, Yorkshire
Dessert - melted chocolate, strawberries, matshmallows

L: beef and rocket sandwich, pepper and tomatoes, hummus, an orange, and Hula hoops
S: two digestive biscuits
D: roast chicken, roast potatoes, broccoli, parsnips, carrots and peas with gravy

Handful of pistachios before bed

S- veggie straws, a low fat vanilla yoghurt
D- roast chicken, yorkshire pudding, veg and gravy- oh and airfryer roast potatoes
S- homemade chocolate orange cookie, a banana and a few mini eggs

No breakfast. The kids had cereal

Lunch - ham sandwich and leftover chips from the chippy re-heated. The kids had leftover pizza

Snack - chocolate biscuit

Dinner - Quorn, broccoli & spinach risotto.

Treat - 4 squares of chocolate from Dss birthday.

D gf sausages (nitrate free and really nice) with potato wedges and spinach
S a few handfuls of salt and pepper kettle chips
Countless teas and a low alcohol G+T Gin

Gf Spinach ricotta tortellini (thank you, Sainsbury's) with passata
Strong tea with milk and sugar, A chocolate biscuit

S- hot cross bun and butter, oreo ice cream sandwich, 2 celebrations

B: scrambled eggs on toast, orange Juice, coffee
L: falafel, quiche, hummus, roasted vegetable couscous, rocket and tomatoes. Grapes for after.
S: two chocolate biscuits
D: beef burgers, homemade chips, and salad. Hopefully soon as I normally eat at 5ish with the kids so I'm ravenous. Will obviously have to fill up on wine in the meantime Grin
