I set the alarm for 620 when I usually get a lie in until 7 on a Thursday and did W2R1!

Well done everyone for keeping going in the miserable weather too!

Ulysses · 16/01/2020 20:17

I've just run my first week 3 run @IsolaPribby and it was fine. There's two 3 minute runs and two 90 sec runs and I got on okay with the step up. I'm finding it hard to believe myself, but once I am outdoors I'm finding the weather quite refreshing. It wasn't raining hard today mind but it was still windy. I've found a pathway which meant turning back and going in another direction but kept the run flattish. I really struggle with hills so will use that for this week's run I think.

frustratedashell · 16/01/2020 21:03

I did W3, R1 today on treadmill. Wasnt as hard as I feared! Once I've got better I'll run outside

Well. I set my alarm for 6.45 this morning. When I woke up at 5.30 it was blowing a gale and tipping it down so I undid the alarm and dozed, rethinking my schedule. At 5.55 I realised I could no longer hear the wind and rain so out I went! W2R3 done! I have done 2 weeks!
So W3R1 at the weekend. Good to hear how it is going for everyone. Well done us!

katzenellenbogen · 17/01/2020 08:23

Just back from W2R3. It was minus1 on Monday morning so 8 degrees was a welcome change today.

Feeling proud of myself.

myfuckingfreezer · 17/01/2020 08:45

Well done everyone! I was hoping to do a run by the sea yesterday as I was away for the night, but the weather was horrendous!

So I have week3run3 to do tomorrow, then onto week 4!

redavocado · 17/01/2020 09:25

I'm aiming for week 3, run 3 at lunchtime today. Hopefully it'll be a sunny jog along the Thames from my office to Westminster and back.

Has anyone dared to do park run yet? I'm covering 4 and a bit km in my 30 mins of walk/run so I feel like I'm almost ready, just a bit scared!

Takeittotheboss · 17/01/2020 11:07

Right! Bottled it on Thursday when I got soaked all day, but have made it out today complete with dog for W1R1😁😋
4 and a half k in 30mins by end of W3 makes you a lot (younger?)fitter than me @redavocado. I only managed that by end of the program last time.

redavocado · 17/01/2020 13:03

Well done takeittotheboss! How was it?

I think I'm probably a bit fast and that'll come back to bite me next week. Today was another 4.5km which I'm feeling pretty good about and I think I've worked out a good breathing pattern too.

Takeittotheboss · 17/01/2020 13:50

redavocadoThanks for asking, it was tough but fine. I was completely out of breath the whole time but didn't stop.Toughest bit will be making myself do it, as I'm terrible at procrastinating and postponing. I know I can do it and it works as a program. So will just have to keep reminding myself that I've done it once so can do it again!

MyGhastIsFlabbered · 17/01/2020 14:04

W3R2 for mo today. Annoyingly Strava decided to auto-pause partway through so I don't have an accurate record. But nowhere near even 4K yet. I volunteer at my local parkrun but I must admit to getting an itch to take part. It was doing that last year which started me on to C25k but then I had an injury and had to stop.

Ciderandskatesdontmix · 17/01/2020 14:28

Got back to it yesterday after a bit of a hiatus... DP had a heart attack on Saturday and had to spend some time in hospital. I was glad to get out yesterday to get a bit of head Space. I started wk5 again just so I didn't throw myself in completely at the deep end!

sovielverloren · 17/01/2020 18:24

Sorry to hear about your DP cider.

IsolaPribby · 17/01/2020 18:32

For those that are saying how far you went, do you have an app that tells you?

lotusbell · 17/01/2020 19:32

Hi all, have finished week 2, run 1 after giving myself an extra rest day - son wanted to go to KFC after I finished work, plus it was raining and I don't yet have a waterproof jacket, so rather than tell myself I was making excuses not to do it, I told myself it was an extra rest day. So I did it tonight instead and it started hail stoning near the end! It was hard but the extra 30 seconds didn't hurt much more and it went pretty quickly so was made up. Annoyingly, I forgot to set Strava off until I'd done my first 90 seconds so no accurate data but I'm.so glad I did it! Impressed with all of us doing this!

redavocado · 17/01/2020 20:03

Sorry to hear that cider. Glad the running is giving you some headspace though.

Isola I use strava and it tracks my run and gives me stats. This photo is today's run - minus the map as it pinpoints my office!

sovielverloren · 17/01/2020 20:21

Well done Isola!! redavocado I am in your vicinity - my grand ambition is that I cam run along the Thames to Waterloo on my way home, cut down the time I need and therefore get an earlier train!!

redavocado · 17/01/2020 20:32

sovielverloren ooh, that's exciting! But do NOT make my mistake and attempt to run over Westminster Bridge! So many tourists!

beenrumbled · 17/01/2020 20:46

WK2R3 done.

Scared for Monday and WK3!

Today I was lucky, I went out as soon as I dropped my things off from work and got changed, and it was dry. DH and DS1 went out later and got soaked. Grin

Hope your DH is ok cider

Macandcheeseplease · 17/01/2020 21:43

Well done everyone.

I did W2R2 today and actually cant believe I'm enjoying it as much as I am!

I'm using Jo Whiley as my coach, at the end of the run she says that we should take rest days as it could be too much doing runs over consecutive days.

Has anyone done early runs on 2 consecutive days? Is it mental to even try? It's just I'm away for work a couple of nights next week which messes up my schedule! So was going to run tomorrow as well so I don't fall behind. But don't want to push myself too far!

MrsHerculePoirot · 17/01/2020 21:43

Well done takeittotheboss! I’ve decided to run the same three days every week so that I can build it into my routine and less likely to not do it I think for me....

I’ve been using strava but it tracks in miles. How can I change it to km please?

MyGhastIsFlabbered · 17/01/2020 21:47

@MrsHerculePoirot go to profile then settings and you can change to km there

MrsHerculePoirot · 17/01/2020 21:54

Thank you! No idea how I’ve not managed to find that for over a week 🤦‍♀️

sovielverloren · 18/01/2020 07:55

Just downloaded Strava so I can keep up with you lot! Thinking about going out this evening again so I get on to a Sat/Mon/Wed cycle for the week which should work better. This would mean not a full rest day (last run yesterday morning). I will see how it goes - w3 starts!

CormoranStrike · 18/01/2020 12:35

Wk3r2 done in glorious sunshine (and frost!)

Got a tight calf but was able to do it; probably my slowest one yet but I kept going!

Thought it might be nice - as well as sharing our runs and tips to inspire us on - to share where we run.

This was my lovely route today.
