I did W2R3 this afternoon before Storm Brendan kicks in. It was a bit hard going. I thought I would do a reverse circuit of what I usually do to avoid a short steep hill at the start but came across a long slow hill at the end. I made it and glad I'm on track but feeling pessimistic about week 3.

myfuckingfreezer · 13/01/2020 15:36

Well I did it! Kicked period ass and ran W3R1. Honestly everything I think of an excuse to get out of running, but go anyway, I feel like a champion athlete!!

First run of week 3 was a step up but mainly mental. Kept thinking I couldn't do it, but of course I could!

Proper haopy now Smile

Well done myfuckingfreezer! Welcome to week 3!

frustratedashell · 13/01/2020 20:54

Well done ladies. Tomorrow I'm doing Week 2, run 3. I had to walk somewhere today as car was in for its MOT, walked it quicker than when I've had to do it before. Putting it down to being fitter! And the car passed, so happy days

MrsHerculePoirot · 13/01/2020 22:51

W1R3 completed today! felt particularly proud of myself as it was dark, windy and a bit wet but I still did it!

frustratedashell · 13/01/2020 23:35

Well done MrsHerculePoirot. Love your name!

frankie001 · 14/01/2020 01:43

Did this programme several years ago. Just downloaded and will start Thursday on next day off!

CormoranStrike · 14/01/2020 14:16

W3R1 done - quote the step up! But you know what, I did it without stopping!

frustratedashell · 14/01/2020 22:22

Well done Cormoran. I've done W2 R3 today. Getting a little easier each time. W3R1 on Thursday

Takeittotheboss · 14/01/2020 23:25

@frankie001. I'll take the plunge and join you on Thurs for W1R1.
Did C25K about five years ago now , the whole program. It was tough but great! Ran through the worst of the weather then gave up when kids on summer holidays (excuses). Have put on weight and age since then plus been through menopause so we will see how I fare this time.

sovielverloren · 15/01/2020 07:23

W2R2 this morning. Should have been yesterday but the weather was just too bad. I was so frustrated! So I got up at 5.30 this morning - it was still raining but no gusty wind so it was fine. Halfway through the first run I was thinking "this was a mistake" but it got better. Wetter, but easier! Tried out new clothes and felt the part. I will invest in better trainers in Feb and then at some stage may dare go out in daylight Blush

katzenellenbogen · 15/01/2020 09:38

W2R2 in the freezing cold this morning.
Had a solitary heron for company.
Found it really hard today but I seem to be getting the hang of breathing properly which helps.

lotusbell · 15/01/2020 11:33

Has anyone had a gait analysis? I've never run on a treadmill before! I've done week one and each time, my shins hurt and I feel without that, I could perhaps pick up the pace a bit. I got a pair of trainers in Decathlon at the weekend and wasn't really planning on spending more on trainers until I got well into this running lark but I think I may need to. It will be a special trip to my local specialist as it's a bit further out of town and I dont drive.

lotusbell · 15/01/2020 11:33

Also got a jacket on order so I can run in the rain which I've avoided so far and don't relish the prospect!

CormoranStrike · 15/01/2020 15:18

I got gait analysed today - expensive, but the trainers feel MUCH better on.

mouldygrapes · 15/01/2020 15:27

Oh yay, glad to have found another support thread on here.
I’m only at W1R2 but proud of myself for going out yesterday in the dark, wind and rain! Was paranoid the park would get locked so only jogged round the bit near the gates just in case.
The very first 60s run of run 1 felt awful - genuinely was appalled at how unfit I am, but run 2 wasn’t so bad. The idea of 90s feels unachievable right now but determined to keep at it!

lotusbell · 15/01/2020 15:56

We can do it, @mouldygrapes!
@CormoranStrike, is the gait analysis free? What trainers did you get, did you give them a budget?

myfuckingfreezer · 15/01/2020 17:36

I did week3run2 today with a friend and time flew. Made me realise how much of 'it's too hard' is just in my head.

I'm also booked in for gait analysis along with a whole host of other stuffs. Is costing me £100 for a 60-90mon appointment.

But I think you can get gait analysis done for free at some of the specialist running's shops? Don't know how good it is, and I suppose it's worthless unless you're going to buy new shoes to match, but worth exploring?

redavocado · 15/01/2020 18:16

I did week 3, run 2 today as well - only after the sun finally came out! I'm very impressed by everyone running in the rain. I found the second 3 mins tough but not impossible and I'm finding the running really helps my mental health.

I think I'm going to try and get gait analysis this week and then buy some new trainers when I get paid. There's a Runners Need near my office and they offer it for free. I have had it before, many moons ago when I ran before but have no memory of what they actually said back then!

CormoranStrike · 15/01/2020 18:40

@lotusbell yes it was free.

I tried in a variety of shoes, sadly only the £120 ones were any good.

I feel if they help me get fit and last me a year to two years they will be a good investment.

lotusbell · 15/01/2020 18:53

Thanks all, I will look at getting it done!

mouldygrapes · 15/01/2020 20:50

I considered gait analysis but since I’m pretty sure I know what the problem is (flat feet and pronation) I went to a large sports shop and asked them what trainers would be good for that.
So far so they seem good and definitely much better than the awful ones I’ve had for years that made my calves cramp up

beenrumbled · 16/01/2020 06:28

I did WK2R2 last night - I set the alarm for 5.30 yesterday morning and couldn't do it. Blush

So I went out as soon as I got home from work. I didn't even sit down when I got in, as I suspected I would not get back up and go out.

Harder than Monday, but I did it.

IsolaPribby · 16/01/2020 16:45

I've just done W2R2. It was ok, but windy. Thankfully the rain held off.

How much of a step up is W3?
