That's beautiful @CormoranStrike. I am also on Wk3R2 and did it around the woods and didn't struggle as much as previous runs. It is lovely to get out when it's so bright isn't it? I bought running gloves ages ago and it's been a good investment for this cold weather.

MrsHerculePoirot · 18/01/2020 17:39

W2R2 done! Took kids to playground and they played whilst I ran around the park! Never thought I’d be fine running where people might see me!

sovielverloren · 18/01/2020 17:39

Have to share! Just did W3R1, regrettably in surroundings significantly less beautiful than cormorans, and I feel great! The step up to 3 minutes wasn't an issue at all and I have returned home feeling less puffed out than W1. I fiddled with Strava so can tell you that I did 3.22km (hmmm, that's a lot less than redavocado) and a pace of 8.2km. That sounds wrong actually. Might need some help with this!
Well done everyone going out this weekend. I went this evening so I didn't have to face minus temps tomorrow morning but probably can't avoid that forever.

crossposted MrsHerculePoirot - very impressed you did it in daylight - that's my next step I think!

CormoranStrike · 18/01/2020 17:50

Very well done everyone

mouldygrapes · 18/01/2020 19:00

W1R3 done! I’m finding getting a good playlist going helps, good distraction from waiting for Sarah Millican to tell me I can slow down!
Well done everyone, great work

IsolaPribby · 18/01/2020 19:18

I have to confess that I failed today! Was due to do W2R3, and stepped out the door this morning, only to find the pavements icy and slippery. Lost all confidence, but thought I could do it later. But the day took over, so now I am a day behind. But will be back on it Monday morning!

Well done to everyone who ran today Smile

lotusbell · 18/01/2020 19:22

@IsolaPribby, you didnt fail, you just considered the practicalities and had an extra rest day!
I'm looking forward to W2R2 tomorrow - might not be tomorrow, mind!
I've noticed a tightness under left buttock and top of my hamstring, not overly painful but aware of it. I've realised I should probably be doing more stretching before I start!

beenrumbled · 19/01/2020 08:51

IsolaPribby - I've yet to face the challenge of running when its icy -I don't know what I'll do.

Lotusbelle, my left calf and ham string are tight too- I have been careful to stretch but it's still tight. I'll just have to be careful.

Tomorrow is WK3R1 - will go after work again.

I did weight myself this morning ans I've lost 5 1/2 lbs since starting - I have been trying to be better with what I eat/drink and portion sizes, so I think it's all helped, but it's good to feel like I'm getting somewhere.

There is a new gym and pool opening near me in the spring - it has a sauna/steam room etc so I might join that, but keep running outside as I get bored on the treadmill.

redavocado · 19/01/2020 10:41

Here's part of my route from today (week 4, run 1). Not quite as lovely as cormoran's but not bad for London. This was a rare quiet moment on a path along an old railway line that's usually packed with runners and dog walkers.

My pace was slightly slower today but I still managed over 4km and ran for all the running bits so I'm proud of that! I'm now having a sneaky coffee in the park before I head back to the mayhem.

Couch to 5k newbies - who's in??
lotusbell · 19/01/2020 11:38

@beenrumbled, I'm just looking into what stretches are best to do, have some yoga blocks which I think may help. Will see how it feels tonight when I go out.
Is anyone else, maybe a bit further along the programme, using a route planner for their longer runs? Not trying to get too ahead of myself but trying to think of where I can run locally as I progress.

myfuckingfreezer · 19/01/2020 12:10

@redavocado where abouts are you? I'm in North/Northeast London and suspect you might be too??

I've been pleased with how easy it is to run in London without using pavements! Keep wanting to try somewhere new though as at the moment I'm doing the same thing each time.

Am off for week3run3 today then will tackle week 4 on Wednesday, Friday and Sunday!

katzenellenbogen · 19/01/2020 12:49

Enforced break for me this week as I have to go and do some emergency child-care for my grandchildren. An added bonus to be seeing them unexpectedly, but a bit sad to miss my mornings.

I am only at the end of W2 and envious of all of you who seem to be running like the wind. I think I will re-do W2 when I am back.

redavocado · 19/01/2020 12:51

myfuckingfreezer - yes, I am! Whereabouts do you run? I'm in N4 and desperately trying to avoid the hills so I've done lots of loops of the flat roads near me and now I'm trying embankment/south bank during the week and then the parkland walk at weekends/if I'm working from home.

myfuckingfreezer · 19/01/2020 12:59

redavocado I'm in N16 but just the other side of the reservoirs from N4! I'm onto running at weekends or work from home says so having been making use of Clissold park etc!

redavocado · 19/01/2020 14:00

myfuckingfreeze, hi neighbour! That's a nice spot to run. I've actually been thinking about running around the wetlands but the slog uphill first puts me off.

MyGhastIsFlabbered · 19/01/2020 18:17

W3R3 today. Had to run in the dark which wasn't great but at least it's done. This is where I normally run but obviously couldn't go there tonight.

MyGhastIsFlabbered · 19/01/2020 18:18

Sorry, can't get a picture to attach for some reason

ThursdayLastWeek · 19/01/2020 18:23

Hiya, you look like a friendly thread can I join you all please??

I’m only Week 2 as I had to wait for my physio to give me the go ahead a week into Jan (I wasn’t expecting the go ahead so I’m delighted to be out running!)

I’m not a total running noob but I’ve been out for not quite two years with plantar fasciitis, so I’ve got most of the gear, some idea and very little fitness!

CormoranStrike · 19/01/2020 18:52

Welcome Thursday.

I’ve just finished wk3r3, did it on a treadmill. I think I prefer the outdoors though, natural cooling system plus you don’t watch a clock counting away the seconds.

lotusbell · 19/01/2020 21:07

Did W2R2 tonight and really enjoyed it. Not getting much pain in my shins and when I got out of the shower, did the wet foot test and my arches are neutral so maybe I'm not overpronating, as suspected - going to see how I get on over the next few weeks before spending on new trainers. Will probably go to Manchester in half term with DS and there's a Runners Need shop there so might visit, get a gait analysis and buy some fancy ones.
Feeling a bit nervous about Week 3 being a big leap!

CormoranStrike · 19/01/2020 21:18

I’ve just looked at week four for Tuesday - eek!

BreastOfIntentions · 20/01/2020 09:54

Sounds like we’re all coming along nicely!

Can I ask those of you who’ve completed C25K previously, did you repeat any weeks? I’m due to start week 5 today but not sure whether I need to repeat week 4 first - my “runs” were 1km/h slower than for weeks 1 and 2 but I didn’t stop. So just wondering if I should plough on and not be too worried that I’m running slightly slower? Thanks!

CormoranStrike · 20/01/2020 09:55

I’ve never tuned my runs to compare - I would say if you are keeping going that’s more imprtant

IsolaPribby · 20/01/2020 11:05

I've just done W2R3, first time with Strava. It said I did 2.6km. I guess that's fair enough at this point.
