Hello, we are on week 3 here. I'm doing it with the DC age 12 and 8 who are much fitter than me. I haven't exercised for years and I'm obese so I'm already finding it very hard. But I will just repeat weeks if I feel it is getting too much for me and week 1 was hard when I started but now I'm on week 3 week one would probably be much more comfortable. I can already get up the stairs at home more quickly too.

MrsHerculePoirot · 18/04/2020 09:55

@Fantasisa well done. I repeated runs in weeks three and four - think I did two extra for week 3 and 3 extra for week 4.

Cherrypi · 18/04/2020 16:12

W2R1 done. Wow that first 90 seconds was hard! I'm listening to Jo Whiley who has everyone else picked?

I did w3r3 yesterday. My knees are still sore when I run but don’t seem to hurt any other time. So I’m hoping they get stronger and stop hurting. At least they’re not getting any worse

Orangesandbananas · 19/04/2020 10:21

Sorry for the late reply, thanks to everyone on this thread who encouraged me when I said I was worried I wouldn't be able to complete it.

Finished week 2 yesterday and am really enjoying it now.

howow · 19/04/2020 19:35

Just finished the "Couch to 5k" program! :) I did like the cheesy cheering audio right at the end of the final run's cool-down walk/outro. In the week 9 runs (30 minute continuous running portion only I ran 5.4, 5.7, 5.6 km in that order for runs 1-3).

MrsHerculePoirot · 19/04/2020 23:07

@Howow 🎉🎉🎉 👏 👏

howow · 19/04/2020 23:18

Thank you @MrsHerculePoirot :) How you getting on?

MrsHerculePoirot · 20/04/2020 00:35

Good thanks - going tomorrow, possibly with kids in their scooters! Just trying to keep going and enjoying it for now - think I got too focused on trying to go faster/further before I was ready!!!

TwistyHair · 20/04/2020 13:14

That’s great @Orangesandbananas. I’ve just done w4r1. It was haaard! Did it though and didn’t stop running so I’m pleased

Fantasisa · 20/04/2020 13:27

Well done @twistyhair

I'm supposed to be doing that run with the DC tonight and I am dreading it. I found week 3 tough so I'd rather repeat it.

Is anyone else running with their DCs? How are they managing? Mine are MUCH fitter than me so are doing fine so far, I suspect the 8 year old might lose interest soon.

Orangesandbananas · 20/04/2020 14:11

Well done @TwistyHair and big congrats to @Howow Smile

howow · 20/04/2020 14:26

Thanks a lot @Orangesandbananas :) wishing you well for your progress.

TwistyHair · 20/04/2020 15:26

That’s great @Howow. I can’t quite imagine being able to run that far. My total distance today was just over 4K but that’s including the walks at beginning and end.

TwistyHair · 20/04/2020 15:26

I’m not doing it with kids. Mine are only 4 and 2 so too young. It’s my bit of time to myself

Notcoolmum · 21/04/2020 13:33

Starting again!! Week 3 of couch to 10K. I had gotten to 10K with my running group in Feb. And seem to have lost all my fitness.

Wish me luck!!

Cherrypi · 22/04/2020 18:33

Can't be bothered to run today. Can anyone find my motivation for me?

MrsPerfect12 · 23/04/2020 15:14

Hope you managed @Cherrypi. I've done my W2R2 I wasn't able to start until Tuesday and my knee was sore so r3 on Saturday instead of Friday.
Managing fine so far and certainly feel good afterwards.
Good luck @Notcoolmum I'm sure you'll be back to it in no time.

NoTeaForMe · 23/04/2020 17:03

Can I join you? I did week one run one a few days ago and then kind of did the second one yesterday but I had my children with me on their bike/scooter so had to keep stopping and went a different route for the smooth pavement for them. I’m actually classing it as week one day one today as I downloaded a different app (the one that most people on here seem to have mentioned!) Just wondered if anyone can tell me how far/fast they go right at the beginning? Wondering how awfully slow I am...! Also I have the C25K app going and a mapping app and a podcast (though I think I’ll change that to music) I’d like to see the running intervals on my Apple Watch so I can be aware of how long is left but that means a different app unless anyone knows of a C25K app that does that for free ?! Thanks.

MrsPerfect12 · 23/04/2020 17:52

I go quite slow. It would probably be a fast walk but I jog it. The last time I tried a ran too fast and didn't stick at it. I think I start slow and work on your time once running properly. Good luck.

thecatsthecats · 24/04/2020 08:43

Bit of a weird question, but I can already run 5k. In fact, I did a couple of 10ks last year.

But I am absolutely TERRIBLE at running outside. Even a short run around the block has me puffing and sick of it, whereas I can happily plough away on the treadmill.

Would C25K help me run outside, do you reckon? I'd like to get able to run outdoors with the gym shut!

ConstantlyCooking · 24/04/2020 09:52

Hi, can I join you?
I completed run 1 of wk 5 on Wednesday and will try run2 tomorrow. This is where the time suddenly seems to shoot up so I need all the support I can get.
I started the program because
1 my gym closed because of lockdown
2 I have just been diagnosed as pre-diabetic so need to keep exercising

  1. I am podgy around the middle so need to stay on top of it!
hstredhead · 24/04/2020 14:21

I've just completed W2, R1 and I found it SO hard! I absolutely despise running and never do it if I can help it, but I really want to improve my stamina and fitness so I'm pushing myself to complete this!
Also, where I live is so hilly, it makes it so much harder and makes me feel so slow!
Does this ever get easier?!

NoTeaForMe · 24/04/2020 18:48

So I’m just back from my official w1r2 now. I ran all the runs and though I didn’t find them easy at all (especially the last two) I did them. I felt so proud of myself, but annoying when they helpfully point out that it only actually equals 8 minutes of running! I did about 3k in the time does that sound ok? I “run” through a woody bit which is quite hilly (well it feels it!) but it’s nice that I don’t feel too open and it’s cooler. It’s a lot harder in the runs in the sun.

howow · 24/04/2020 19:57

Can I ask what you use to track your distance for your runs please? My phone apps (Strava and a Polar beat) both show the same high distance whilst my polar watch always shows at least 0.5km less every time.
