Ah thanks for the reply. Will have a look at the thread you linked.

Jfw82 · 19/03/2020 21:56

@Howow and @MrsHerculePoirot yay on your progress l. I'm going for W7R1 tomorrow. Am hoping if we do lock down I can still run but who knows!

Howow · 19/03/2020 22:37

@Jfw82 thanks :) looks like we're at the same stage.

I did notice far fewer runners since coronavirus pandemic in the last few days

W7R1 done but despite it being the same as W6R3 found it harder with legs feeling very heavy but am hoping after a couple more times it feels easier....

frustratedashell · 21/03/2020 13:58

Feeling a bit fed up. Ran 5k on Sunday(on treadmill) , but stopped going to gym since then cos of CV. Been trying to run outside, I just cant do it! Tried again today , I managed 3 minutes! I've not got a gps watch yet, so dont know what speed I'm running. I'm slow but steady on the treadmill and of course the speed is constant. I'm getting the watch 2 weeks today, on my birthday. Maybe that will help.
Anyone got any insights please?

MrsHerculePoirot · 21/03/2020 15:42

@frustratedashell I don’t know but I find the first five minutes the hardest. I really just plod and once I’ve got through it it seems a bit easier.

@Jfw82 I found that. For me it didn’t get better again until the final run of that week and then since then it’s been much better (apart from first five mins!).

I did W8R2 today - I’ve attached my stats from first run and today where you can see my progress!!!

@crapette I hope you are okay. Thanks for the link I’ll have a read. I’m just outside Manchester in a suburb and I’m sure our country will lock down soon.
I’ve had a v stressful/anxious week as I had to wind down my business (childcare) so I only made it out on Monday. I did okay though. I think I’ll try to get out tomorrow. Gyms obvs now shut so I’m on the roads so taking it slower. Need to get my head back in the game now I’ve stopped crying! Stay safe everyone x

Giraffe50 · 21/03/2020 17:45

Been lurking. I did my W9R3 today (I am lucky and can do run around a field next to my house so no worries about virus). I am 55 and don’t exercise usually. It’s a great app, I go very slowly but managed it, no injuries, 3 inches of my waist and it boosts my mood. Keep going if you can safely everyone.

crapette · 21/03/2020 18:31

I'm OK @Strictly1972 thanks for asking.

I can no longer go to my usual place to run as it is "just" too far from home. Going to have to brave the local roads, I'm only likely to encounter a cow or two.

Our house is at the top of a very steep drive so I have to decide whether I want to struggle up it after a run or be really pathetic and park the car at the bottom.

I wimped out today as my foot has been sore, but fully intend to give it a go in the morning...........probably....... Grin

MrsHerculePoirot · 21/03/2020 21:07

@crapette park at the bottom I’d say!

Jfw82 · 21/03/2020 21:59

@frustratedashell I have a Fitbit but with their app you can also have your phone as a device so when I've not had my watch on (et on holiday where I don't want hassle of syncing with phone to sort time change etc) that logs my activity in terms of steps so maybe could help (Just a guess but perhaps an option short term)

Jfw82 · 22/03/2020 08:51

@MrsHerculePoirot great stats. My pace has improved a little but not much yet.

Just finished W7R2, first half felt like it took forever but I did keep running - park was soooo quiet only saw a handful of dog workers and 1 other runner

crapette · 23/03/2020 10:10

@crapette park at the bottom I’d say!

I really, really wish I had followed your advice Wink

bettytaghetti · 23/03/2020 13:10

Did W9R3 this morning. Yay, go me! 😂

Really struggled on R2 the other day and knee was hurting badly so gave myself a little break and even ran for an extra 3 mins at the end and a total of 5.34km. Still not quite up to 5k within the run section so will work on that and then hopefully try to increase pace.

MrsHerculePoirot · 23/03/2020 20:08

@bettytaghetti🎉🎉🎉🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼 Congratulations! That’s my plan too when I get there, keep going until I can then get to 5km in the run bit.

@crapette sorry, but your post did made my laugh a bit!!!

I did W8R3 today. 💪 my left knee hurt today though - might order knee support just in case?!! Or should I leave it and see how it goes?

bettytaghetti · 24/03/2020 12:06

Thank MrsHP! Regarding the knee support, maybe give it a go and see if it helps you? No point making things worse.

frustratedashell · 24/03/2020 22:43

Thanks @Jfw82 and @MrsHerculePoirot. I've been given my birthday present early, my gps watch.
Got it yesterday, took me ages to work the thing out! Went out for a run today and was pleased with my effort. Much better than before. Managed 23 minutes and 2.27 km. I'm slow but it was ok.

MrsHerculePoirot · 25/03/2020 07:39

@frustratedashell that’s nearly 8 times as long as the other day! Don’t worry about speed, I’m assuming that’ll come as we get more and more into programme!

I’ve ordered a knee support... hopefully coming today. I usually run Monday/thurs/sat so going to have another day off today which might also help.

Jfw82 · 25/03/2020 07:47

Well done @bettytaghetti ! I'm also wanting to get up to 5k in the run part eventually and I'm thinking longer term I might like to aim for 10k- if you'd told me that before I started I'd have laughed!

Just done W7R3 and keen to get started on W8 now. Our at 6.30 so crisp and sunny and saw hardly anyone in the park

myfuckingfreezer · 25/03/2020 08:04

Morning all,

Congratulations @bettytaghetti!!

Well done everyone who is persevering through all this madness. I for one am so glad to have something emotionally healthy like running!

I've ended up on lockdown away from home due to work - have all my running gear with me but am surrounded by hills! Will need to work that one out so I can crack on with week 7.

crapette · 25/03/2020 09:12

Well I continued ignoring your advice today @MrsHerculePoirot. I am sure it has got steeper. OH counted yesterday and it took him 330 steps to walk up the drive (and he is much fitter and taller).

We are now restricted to staying 1km from the house so I have to do a bit of a back and forth which is fine, but it involves passing the farm dog who doesn't like people walking past "his" territory and will run up and bark. He's actually, soppy, deaf and very old but it still makes me jump.

howow · 25/03/2020 19:55

Hi all,

Did Week 7 Run 1 yesterday - breathing felt a bit weird first few minutes (like a choking/nausea sensation) and then got into it OK and then in minute 22 to minute 25, I had the most HORRENDOUS stitch in my sides Throughout this program, I've only had a mild stitch once so was concerning. It was so painful that I was nearly in tears, even slowing down didn't help at all. Ran through the pain and it started getting better in the final 30 seconds (maybe a psychological effect?!)

My stats for the run were: 4.6km in 25 minutes. Average = 5min 55 seconds per km. Best 1km lap = (4 min 50s) per km.

How does that compare to others at Week 7 Run 1? I'm mid-20s, female.

MrsHerculePoirot · 25/03/2020 22:04

Much faster than me. But I’m 40s and about 3 stone overweight! Sounds very fast to me 👍

howow · 25/03/2020 22:45

@MrsHerculePoirot thanks for your response - you must be on the final week, now right? That's exciting! What do you plan to do once you "graduate"?

MrsHerculePoirot · 26/03/2020 07:11

Just about to start week 9 today. Plan is to just keep repeating that I think until I am faster/fitter and ready to do something else!
