@crapette I’m cheating a bit as I’m doing it on a treadmill at the gym as I struggle a bit with my back & I believe it has less impact as it’s a bit springier. No excuses though. I’m hoping as I build up I’ll get outside especially as the weather gets better x

CormoranStrike · 02/03/2020 13:52

I did run with people on Saturday and I got thr it’s early done but my time was slow - def one to work on

crapette · 02/03/2020 14:05

I don't have access to a treadmill/gym but I am lucky enough to be in the middle of lovely countryside. Lots of treadmill users on this thread I think - I am not aware that either option is better/worse, but maybe some of the more seasoned runners can offer an opinion?

W5R3 done and I DIDN’T STOP 💪💪💪. I’m a bit in love with Jo Whiley 😂.

I NEVER though I could do that back at the start of January. I’ve repeated weeks along the way but do now have the belief I can finish this!

bettytaghetti · 02/03/2020 19:04

Well done @MrsHerculePoirot!

Imposib · 02/03/2020 20:43

Well done @MrsHerculePoirot!! It was reading this thread that made me believe I could do it... not looked back since Smile
I’ve just done my second 5k run, much slower than at weekend but I’m so glad I made myself go do it

Beanmama18 · 02/03/2020 21:26

Well done everyone

And those doing their first runs well done to you too.

I attempted w4r2 for the second time. Did better than the last attempt but still didn't quite complete it properly. Had to walk a minute of the last 5 minute run. Hopefully next time I'll get it!

myfuckingfreezer · 02/03/2020 21:38

Well done everyone!!

I just did week 5 run 2 again. And completed it - again!!!! So happy. Still don't feel quite ready to move on to week 5 run 3 - the dreaded one - but hopefully will this week as I'm on holiday somewhere beautiful for running!

crapette · 03/03/2020 09:32

W5R1 done this morning. Very pleased with myself.

It's still raining but not as torrential as yesterday so I was only slightly bedraggled.

I managed to keep warm by dragging half a fallen tree off the drive before I could get out.

bettytaghetti · 03/03/2020 09:53

Well done myfuckingfreezer (you're really going to have to elaborate on that name one day! 😂) and crapette!

mff you've done 2 x 8 minute runs; you could just say to yourself I'm going to get to 10 and then see how I feel, and try to keep going? Slow it down if you're struggling. I think at this point it's about building up your stamina to go for longer rather than speed.
There's a woman that I often see running in my local park. She has a slightly odd running style that may possibly indicate some sort of injury but she just keeps on going at her steady pace, and I've seen her all over my local area so she really does cover some distance. I think of her as the duracell bunny! she stopped one time to talk to me and my dog and had the sexiest voice; think I might have a bit of a girl crush!

bettytaghetti · 03/03/2020 09:56

W7R1 done and dusted. Really wish some weight would come off. It would make things a lot easier! Grin

ComicePears · 03/03/2020 11:25

Well done everyone. Bit of a crap run for me today. I've been really struggling with w7 for ages so dropped back to w6r1, which felt bad enough, but then the stupid app stopped halfway through. Anyway. Onwards and upwards, and I've got a long walk later.

@bettytaghetti I'm not losing weight either could be all the biscuits but I definitely think my body is changing shape. My legs are more toned and my tummy is a bit less flabby.

MrsHerculePoirot · 03/03/2020 18:47

@Beanmama18 so close! Hang in there, deffo next time I reckon.

@crapette 🎉 on taking the leap to W5.

MrsHerculePoirot · 03/03/2020 18:48

@bettytaghetti also not seen massive weight loss on scales BUT I have definitely changed shape and dropped a dress size. I probably need to eat better now... that’s the next step!

Beanmama18 · 03/03/2020 20:52

@MrsHerculePoirot Same here. Need to start watching what I eat. After quitting smoking, stopping drinking (7 weeks) and starting running food has been a massive vice. Need to start getting it in check now.

myfuckingfreezer · 03/03/2020 21:06

@bettytaghetti it's not that glamorous I'm afraid! My Fucking Freezer has a fault where the alarms goes off every 24-48 hours. Usually at about 3am Hmm and it's driving me up the wall!

My weight has fallen off (22pounds and counting) but I have overhauled my diet at the same time!

CormoranStrike · 04/03/2020 07:03

Ooh, is boring weight loss! I haven’t overhauled my diet and it is showing!

I also haven’t been out a run since Saturday, so hoping to rectify that after work today.

CormoranStrike · 04/03/2020 07:04

It did not mean it’s a boring weight loss! I typed a brilliant weight loss!

sovielverloren · 04/03/2020 08:16

Haven't checked the thread for a few days and what an inspirational read! Some great runs, the W5R3 achievement and some new starters! Proud of us all..
Did W9R2 this morning. It was tough (I put if off from last night) but I kept on plodding. Changed up the route as I didn't want to run too far from home (not sure of logic of this!) and ended up zig zagging and going up and down dead ends as I didn't actually know the estates I was running in! All fun and actually a distraction which probably helped. Forgot to set Strava though so I shall never know that route...
Hoping to finish on Friday morning! Will definitely be here to celebrate and only then will I start the graduate thread. Keep it up everyone!

Jfw82 · 04/03/2020 08:26

W4R3 finished this morning and looking forward to stepping it up to week 5 on Friday . I need to overhaul diet as well...

myfuckingfreezer · 04/03/2020 12:53

Oh. My. God

I did week 5 run 3!! I can't believe I did it. I set off thinking I'd see how I got on as there was no way. But I did it GrinGrinGrin

Imposib · 04/03/2020 12:59

@myfuckingfreezer well done!!! Think once you’ve done that it seems to get easier... seems to be a massive leap from run 2 to run 3..... that’s definitely the time when I thought I could actually achieve 5k Smile

MrsHerculePoirot · 04/03/2020 13:28

@myfuckingfreezer 🎉🎉🎉 you’re similar point to me! I’m going to do W6R1 tomorrow.

VERY proud of you - know how amazing it feels!

BreastOfIntentions · 04/03/2020 15:34

Hello everyone, been a while since I checked in as I've been on my travels. Back now and just done W9 R3. About 5 minutes in I was wondering how I'd manage to get the 30 minutes done, but all of a sudden it was over and I felt fantastic.

Great to read everyone's progress! Smile

myfuckingfreezer · 04/03/2020 15:41

Given that a quite a few are past their week 5 run 3 point, can anyone post the distance they covered in that run?

Would be really helpful to benchmark. E.g I did 3.7k in both warm up/down walks and the 20 minute run.
