I have done wk9r2 and for the 30 minute run I covered 4.5k. After I finish the app after my next run, my goal is to get to the 5k mark and then get quicker at that before moving into longer distances

IToldYouIWasFreaky · 04/03/2020 17:22

myfuckingfreezer Yay! Well done!

I did my first 28 min run last night (losing track of weeks, sorry!) which was fine. I only covered 4.57km though, and that's with the walking too. I am going to have to get faster to cover 5km in 30 mins!

I also realised last week that you have to pay for Zombies, Run! once you get past a certain number of episodes, which is a bit annoying! I am considering buying an annual subscription though as it does really help me to stay focussed on the treadmill which can be quite dull otherwise.

bettytaghetti · 04/03/2020 17:34

That's absolutely fantastic myfuckingfreezer, and my condolences on the alarm situation! Grin

sovie I think you'll find that your strava map would have looked something like this? 🤣

@myfuckingfreezer I only did 3.11km in total (warm up, run and warm down). I was worried about not finishing it so did it slowly at start and sped up for last two minutes! I was half tempted to do it again and try faster but I think I’m going to just keep plodding on and sort my food and worry about getting faster later on!

bettytaghetti · 04/03/2020 19:44

myfuckingfreezer I did similar, 3.8km.

Beanmama18 · 04/03/2020 20:15

Finally completed w4r1 on my third attempt. Thought I'd feel great afterwards but I really didn't. I can't seem to switch off clock watching and waiting for the run to be over. I've tried music and podcasts. Has anyone got any suggestions?

redavocado · 04/03/2020 21:56

Hello! I'm still plodding in with the running but life's been a bit hectic recently. Week 9, run 2 tomorrow though! The end is in sight!

myfuckingfreezer, it's good to see you back on here! For w5, r3 I covered 4.79km in total but I think my Strava might have overestimated slightly as it's got a random wiggle in the route that definitely didn't happen!

On w9, r1 I managed 5.39km in total so not quite running 5km yet but I'm almost there!

frustratedashell · 05/03/2020 00:03

Well done all. I did Week 9, run 1 yesterday. Did the 30 minute run. Did 3.4k including the brisk walk at the beginning. Getting there! Bit disappointed that I've not done 37 minutes again but I know I'll get there.
Hoping to run again tomorrow, time permitting. I'm getting twitchy about doing parkrun. Longing to do it but dont think I'm ready yet. I'm slow, running at 6k an hour. But its early days.

MrsHerculePoirot · 05/03/2020 09:24

W6R1 done. BUT my strava didn’t record and I tried really hard to improve my pace and now I’ll never know - I felt like I properly ran for bits of it too. I realised that if I made my strides a bit longer but ran at same rhythm I should increase my pace. Probably obvious to everyone else but I jog with pigeon steps I feel like sometimes 🤣

crapette · 05/03/2020 10:06

W5R2 in the pouring rain.
Feels good Grin

MrsHerculePoirot · 05/03/2020 16:39

Well done Crapette! It was a foul day; the dog was lucky to get the briefest of walks! 😂

Did W7R2 today and managed to knock the emergency button thingy off after about 15 mins of running wobbling. Spent a couple of mins trying to sort it out/work out what I'd done so far that, I ended up running for a bit longer than 25 mins in total and at the same speed as I had been doing, whereas I had been just about to turn it down a smidge(!), but the good news is I didn't keel over after it all! 😁

sovielverloren · 06/03/2020 08:55

Sooooooo. I've done it! I have lasted the course. Went out at 6am for w9r3. Really really thought I wouldn't last the first five.minutes and genuinely thought I should give up and try again tomorrow but then it clicked into place and off I went. Did bang on 5k but that includes the 10 mins walking so do still have work to do on pace. I can do it - I have one run recorded where I was considerably faster, but that was Saturday 8am which is not easily replicated any other day!
Anyway, walking (a bit stiffly) on air now knowing I have done it. Ready to work out how I keep on, and will start graduate thread later today when not on a bus!
Keep on everyone, we are all doing so well!

BreastOfIntentions · 06/03/2020 09:08

Congratulations on your graduation @sovielverloren! Must feel amazing after putting in all that effort. I'm hoping to do W9 R3 tomorrow, which feels surreal. Think I'll keep using the week 9 runs for the next while and just work to increase my pace and/or do some inclines. Have we a graduate thread yet? Smile

Florabella · 06/03/2020 09:44

That's it - I'm done!!! A sunny wk9r3 this morning and now time to set some new challenges. Well done to those still getting out there

bettytaghetti · 06/03/2020 09:49

Congrats to the new graduates sovie & Flora, well done! 🎉🍾🎉🍾🎉🍾

sovielverloren · 06/03/2020 09:51

Just created.graduate.thread. never started one before so hope I did it! Also don't know how to link but it is in Chat so hopefully you can find it and someone cleverer than me can link it.

IToldYouIWasFreaky · 06/03/2020 10:56

Congratulations graduates! Flowers

Ulysses · 06/03/2020 14:56

I hopefully join you next week graduates! Well done guys. Hopefully this link will work:

www.mumsnet.com/Talk/_chat/3840732-C25K-graduates-keep-on-running

I did 5K in 34.5 minutes today. It was my W8R3 28 minutes run but I decided to keep running till I did the 5K, so it was my 5 minute warm up and 29.5 minutes running.

I started off running at 10kph, managed to get to 2.5K but then it became really hard going and I got a stitch so slowed right down for a walk. I came back though and gradually increased my speed from 7.5kph and made my way back up to 10kph again by the end.

I was red faced and sweaty by the end of it and I know I pushed myself really hard, but I was feeling irate about something its really helped me let go of it. It was a very therapeutic run!

bettytaghetti · 06/03/2020 19:19

Wow Ulysses that's some impressive speed!

BreastOfIntentions · 06/03/2020 19:44

I've been doing my 30 minute runs at 8.5 km/h and not quite sure how I'll ever advance from that! That's great speed Ulysses!

Strictly1972 · 07/03/2020 12:45

Just finished my 3rd run of the 1st week. It felt the hardest of the lot! Proud I’ve done it though. Complete non runner here so it’s an achievement I managed to do a week.

crapette · 07/03/2020 13:24

Well done @Strictly1972, hope you're feeling good.

I did W5R3 today. OMG, I ran for 20 minutes, can't actually believe it!

I think I am going to repeat W5 as although I managed to complete it, today was a real struggle and I am not confident that I am ready to move on. At least it has stopped raining here but there were so many puddles that I still got wet feet.

Strictly1972 · 07/03/2020 13:45

Thanks @crapette. I do feel good yes and sort of looking forward to my next one on Monday. I’m sure I’ll be repeating weeks further along the line. It feels good to be more active in anyway to be honest.
