That's beautiful katzenellenbogen! It was so cold this morning and I was so busy running I forgot to take any photos!

I did w6, r2 today and managed to cover 5.1km in the time. I'm pretty pleased with that!

katzenellenbogen · 05/02/2020 10:50

Thanks @redavocado - being able to run in a lovely spot does make it a bit easier to get out of bed.

I can't even contemplate moving up to longer runs, but I am just going to take it slowly and not stress about it. I have never so much as run for a bus in my life, so it was never going to be easy Grin

myfuckingfreezer · 05/02/2020 12:33

Hi @ringletsandtwiglets !

Thanks for thinking of me - stuff like that definitely helps keeps me going! I'm about to go out today for my first run since Saturday. Really struggling to fit three in a week as I hate running in the dark before/after work.

I'm tossing up between going and doing 4x3 or doing this new app someone told me about called Zombie, run! Has anyone heard of it? It's like an adaptive game in your ear that tells you when to run or not based on the story line Grinsounds daft but I know the biggest hurdle for me is monotony so might be worth it!

What's keeping me going atm is I might be seeing a guy I like in a few weeks so would like to look as good naked as possible BlushGrin

I’ve heard of it, @forrandomposts :) Let us know what you think! I’m getting a bit bored of Sarah Millican now, but I listen to a running playlist on Apple Music as I go. There’s a couple of songs which match my foot pace perfectly and help keep me going. Sex on Fire and one aptly called ‘Running’ by Milky Chance are my favourites. ‘Running’ has a line that says ‘are you going to give up now?’ which makes me obstinate. 😂

myfuckingfreezer · 05/02/2020 18:54

Right well not only did I go run but I did a proper 3,5,3,5 al a week 4!

So weirdly chuffed to be where I was a fortnight ago anyway Grin made me realise how much is in my head and once I have myself permission to only do 3s and slowed right down, and I just listened to my body instead.

So happy to be back on track

CormoranStrike · 05/02/2020 18:58

Very good results all round x

redavocado · 05/02/2020 21:11

Nice work everyone! And glad you're back on track myfuckingfreezer!

forrandomposts I've heard of it and have the same problem. I'm starting to enjoy running but I do get bored easily. I tend to listen to podcasts rather than music and I find that helps because I'm not counting 3/4 minute songs.

frustratedashell · 05/02/2020 22:12

Did week 5 run 2 today, actually ran for 8 mins!
Here are my new trainers, got them half price

Ooooh, pretty!! I bought some new balance ones from sports direct- £40. I have really really wide feet (EEE normally) so went for men’s ones instead.

W6 R3 dine - 25 mins of running without stopping! Even sped up a little for the final minute. Knees are sore now! But hopefully will be good to go again after a rest day tomorrow 😊

CormoranStrike · 06/02/2020 07:26

Well done @BreastOfIntentions

Love the trainers, will take a pic of mine later when I go out for W6R1

beenrumbled · 06/02/2020 07:31

ooh love the trainer pics!

If I keep going I'm going to invest in a new pair (after I buy a decent sports bra!)

I did WK5R2 yesterday - 2 x 8 minute runs - I can't believe it! I still have to make myself go for the run though- I wish I was like my BIL who loves running!

Dreading tomorrows 20 minute run - I'm really not sure I will do it, and I'm worried that not being able to do it wil put me off it altogether. Confused

ringletsandtwiglets · 06/02/2020 07:38

@beenrumbled, that’s how I felt about the 20 minutes. I told myself just to get over the halfway mark and keep going as long as I could. The first time, I managed 12 mins, walked a bit then ran the rest. Then I repeated W5 R2, then another go at W5 R3, and ran the whole 20 mins.

The very thought of running for 20 minutes solid was just laughable at Christmas. Even 12 minutes was beyond me. Look how far we’ve come. If you have to walk, just walk, and try again another day.

BreastOfIntentions · 06/02/2020 08:37

So great that we're all plugging along! Last night I could not have been less motivated for my run and yet suddenly it was all over and I felt amazing. Sometimes I think it's mind over matter, well for me at least!

ringletsandtwiglets · 06/02/2020 11:04

Definitely, @BreastOfIntentions. Well done for getting out there. I just did W6 R1 and the first 5 min run was harder than I was expecting. It’s VERY cold out with freezy fog, so I wonder if the cold air was a bit of a shock. But I managed to go 2.5 miles today and feel like I’m getting closer to that 5k!

Ulysses · 06/02/2020 13:14

Today's supposed to be a run day for me but I'm giving it a miss as I've had blood tests done and feeling really tired from it. No time later today but am hoping to catch up tomorrow. Well done on getting out there guys!

CormoranStrike · 06/02/2020 13:17

W6R1 done - I found this one hard, harder than the 20 minute run; I suppose that was my legs telling me how tired they were from that one.

However, I did it and didn’t stop!

IsolaPribby · 06/02/2020 16:59

Just completed W4R3! Feels fantastic! But am slightly bricking it after having a look at what W5 entails! Is it as hard as it looks?

CormoranStrike · 06/02/2020 17:37

I’m 52, fat and unfit and I did it, so you can too!

IsolaPribby · 06/02/2020 19:07

@CormoranStrike that pretty much describes me too, but I am 'only' 50 Grin

sovielverloren · 06/02/2020 19:41

I did W6R1 this morning - yes it was freezing! I found I enjoyed the change of pace again but also felt that I could have done more, which is quite surprising. I'm covering 3.95 km apparently.

CormoranStrike · 06/02/2020 20:19

Including the rams either side I did 4.5 km today. Amazing isn’t it?

frustratedashell · 06/02/2020 22:12

Well done all. I'm doing Week 5, run 3 tomorrow, the dreaded 20 mins! I'm quite looking forward to it. I run at the gym , going to have to start putting an incline on the treadmill soon. I'm hoping to do my 1st parkrun, running all the way, by early April. Its then that I hit the big 6-0 . Eek!

beenrumbled · 07/02/2020 13:10

WK5R3 done this morning. I had to slow to a walk after 15 minutes, but I only walked for a minute then ran the rest of the run session.

I'm gutted I never ran all of it, but it was like a switch in my head, I got to 15 minutes and it was like "nope".

I'm going to re do the run until I can do it!

Disappointed in myself but also I am shocked that I actually ran for 15 minutes!

redavocado · 07/02/2020 13:48

I did week 6, run 3 at lunchtime today. And ran the entire thing apart from a flight of steps. It felt so much easier than the 20 mins last week but I did start wondering where Sanjeev was at about minute 19. The gap between 12.5 mins (halfway) and 20 mins seemed to last forever!
