Feeling slut-shamed

MyOhMyDelilah · 27/12/2019 11:32

Wondering if anyone can explain this to me, please?

Why do I feel ashamed of 1) sexting 2) being willing to have sex on the first date 3) entertaining the idea of having a FWB ?

Am I a slut?

I haven't dtd in nearly 2 years, and tbh I feel a good shag would straighten out a lot of things for me/in my life right now. I suspect some of the tension I'm feeling day to day is rooted in the suppression of my sexual self.

The majority of men are not, or do not feel toward themselves, slut-shamed for the same reasons I do.

Insight appreciated.

Yikes

HorseWithNoHumbuggery · 27/12/2019 16:23

On the sex thing if I may use an analogy - I think the colour grey rocks but I could just as easily live without it did you see what I did there?

Fraggling · 27/12/2019 16:46

Heheh

Also girly girl I like it, an important message.

Fraggling · 27/12/2019 16:46

Hehe at horse

I'm not sure how trans has anything to do with is, who has posted anything that hints that they might be TRAs or why anyone would think I am trans. I peaked as result of following this board, and Twitter before GC women started being banned and blocked left, right and centre. I was! I don't agree with transgenderism, I think it's completely fucked up and the epitome of men through the ages oppressing us, by thinking they are entitled to the final say on the rights of women and girls.

FWIW, I am a single mother. I feel so shit right now. Big mistake to post on here.

Don’t feel bad OP.... it was a legitimate question but probably not the right forum.

MyOhMyDelilah · 27/12/2019 17:13

@Divebar you are right. In future I will avoid this board as far as possible.

Crack on OP. No such thing as a slut.

Though unsure what kind of response you were expecting.

Divebar · 27/12/2019 17:30

She probably wasn’t expecting someone to question whether she was an actual woman. It is possible to have this debate without it being diverted to a trans conversation. I’ve never had that accusation thrown at me when posting on the Sex thread

UpfieldHatesWomen · 27/12/2019 17:34

If it's having a big impact on your life, OP, it would be best to get some therapy rather than posting on an anonymous forum where people will both be blunt and wary of insincerity. This is no fault of this board, it's the anonymous nature of the internet!

sugarplumtum · 27/12/2019 17:35

Where do men get away with such behaviour? What from other men? They are called names, women think it's disgusting men do not get away with it. Everybody is judged the same it's just women care more about other people's opinions.

Weffiepops · 27/12/2019 17:39

You're not a slut but old fashioned views are still held by some. A hangover from the patriarchy.

insideandout3 · 27/12/2019 17:40

I've seen this before, usually it's men barging into women's conversations to throw down a gauntlet of drama who flounce away with "I tried feminism for five hot seconds and feminists are hateful so I binned it as rubbish" when feminists don't take the unclever bait.

Fraggling · 27/12/2019 17:54

Thanks for that analysis sugarplum Grin

MyOhMyDelilah · 27/12/2019 18:29

Came on to read any last comments and was not planning on posting further, however, @insideandout3 I am absolytely not masquerading as a man! FGS

@sugarplumtum or is it that women are unfairly judged by society for same things men do without the same judgement?

I don't think a woman has been described as brazen since about 1947! 😂

HorseWithNoHumbuggery · 27/12/2019 19:14

Brazen hussy wasn't it?

Butterymuffin · 27/12/2019 19:21

I find it bizarre that posters have said OP doesn't sound like a genuine woman because she used the word slut! If you really think a woman wouldn't do that, you can't meet a wide variety of women. I am also not trans / a man / a TRA Hmm

StarlightLady · 27/12/2019 20:01

Slut is malevlanguage which has been inflicted on women because some men (NB - Not all men) are scared of female sexuality.

There is nothing wrong in women having needs and wanting good quality sex. First date sex can be quality sex too.

Women should never be ashamed of their sexuality or being sex positive.

PlanDeRaccordement · 27/12/2019 21:49

Slut is not male language. It’s language. I have been called a slut by more women than men in my life. And I don’t even like casual sex. You can be called a slut just for flirting with someone’s boyfriend.

Fraggling · 27/12/2019 22:31

How often are men called sluts?

Is the point, when saying it's male language.

How often are men called brazen hussies, for that matter? Grin

Interesting thread in many ways.

PlanDeRaccordement · 27/12/2019 22:46

Well that’s confusing. So, is “Cocklodger” then “female language”? Your point makes no sense to me because would follow that every gendered term would be language of the opposite sex?

Woman, girl, she, queen, lady, slut= male language
Man, boy, he, King, lord, cocklodger= female language

????

sugarplumtum · 27/12/2019 23:30

How many song are writing about cheating scummy men?
Destiny child made a whole career on it!

My point isn't that men get it as bad, it's that we let people or men or women shame US!
Call me all the names under the sun and I do not care unless it's something personal to me.
Go out for only sex as a female isn't new, remember the swinging 60's

PlanDeRaccordement · 28/12/2019 08:17

I think although men had/have more sexual freedom than women, there have always been limits to that freedom and a man can be considered too promiscuous. There are male equivalents of a man slut:
You have cad, bouncer, rake, philanderer, (old) and more the modern fuckboy, gigolo, player.

I’m not saying men have it just as bad(they don’t), just that society seems to want to limit sex for both men and women.
