This exit poll is just...no words.

@Borkins Then vote for Scottish independence and see if the EU wants you on your own 🤷‍♀️

Puzzledandpissedoff · 12/12/2019 23:25

The British people have done so well in seeing through Corbyn and the far left

I find the common sense of the bulk of the British public can generally be relied upon, and once again they appear to have made the right decision

Yes it's painful for Labour, but this had to happen if the necessary changes to make them electable again are to take place. They've brought this entirely upon themselves, so I can only hope they'll accept the hard lesons and once again become a party I'll be glad to vote for

SusieOwl4 · 12/12/2019 23:25

@JanMeyer. I have relatives claiming pip . And you should be blaming corbyn as well . He has been a weak ineffective droning wingy opposition leader and let the conservatives get away with too much . But then to drag his party into unachievable massive spending and you have a double whammy . All those voters in the north are not as stupid as you make them out to be .

How can anyone look at the awful people at the top of the conservative arty and think, yup, that's who I want in charge of my future? Unless they're equally wealthy, it just doesn't make any sense.

What a load of rubbish. If the polls are correct it’s the working class areas that have changed to conservatives

It’s all down to corbyn

AlexaAmbidextra · 12/12/2019 23:34

I think the sad fact is the majority of people who go out to vote are Tory voters. I'd imagine the vast majority of people who didn't vote wouldn't have voted Conservative.

Well if that’s true, those who didn’t vote had the same choice as the rest of us who did bother to get off our arses and down to the polling station. Not our fault if so many Labour supporters couldn’t be arsed. Interested to see how this will be spun by the losers though.

ChristaMSieland · 12/12/2019 23:34

Surely Corbyn will go now.

He will. Thank god. It's been horrible watching him doing this to Labour (my party).

Anotherplanetandwhiskey · 12/12/2019 23:36

Who the fuck is still voting Tory? After everything they've screwed up over the past 9 years.

Going by exit polls, most of the country?

LochJessMonster · 12/12/2019 23:38

@Borkins Sorry for my last comment, I shouldn’t have said that. Been a long day! I get that it must be frustrating for Scottish people.

AlexaAmbidextra · 12/12/2019 23:39

Funny but the people I know on social media who were voting Labour or LD didn't make a big deal of it. Thise voting Tory were sharing posts from the Tories page and stuff slagging off Labour and the LDs.

Oh do come on. Have you not been on MN for the past few weeks and seen the insults and vitriol towards those who said they were voting Tory? You must be blind or hard of thinking if you haven’t.

Borkins · 12/12/2019 23:39

I vote for Greta Thunberg
Who really gives a shit about climate change? None of them
Brexit, NHS, Corbyn - none of it will matter when the climate goes tits up and we are all extras in an apocalyptic nightmare

StrangeLookingParasite · 12/12/2019 23:39

hopefully now he will resign and we can have a decent laboir guvermentbin 5 years time.

I'm not sure there will be a UK in five years.
And frankly, those who voted for leaving deserve everything they get. You think Johnson can 'get Brexit done'? You're deluded.

Borkins · 12/12/2019 23:41

If I hear Get Brexit Done one more time I'm gonna lose it Grin

olivertwistwantsmore · 12/12/2019 23:41

It’s all about Brexit. People want brexit done. That’s why Labour areas have swung to Tory - they’re all areas where people voted to Leave, and they think that the Torres are the best party to deliver Brexit.

jellycatspyjamas · 12/12/2019 23:45

If the polls are correct I think we’ll see an independent Scotland in the not too distant future. I’ve never been in favour but honestly think the union can’t survive when Scotland are so far removed ideologically from the rest of the uk.

thismeansnothing · 12/12/2019 23:49

I am devestated.

I work in health care.

Thanks to the tories, 3 years ago the service I work for was outsourced to a private organisation. In the new year it is to be decommissioned.

Tommorow I go for my first redundancy interview.

This is the future.

Bananasandchocolatecustard · 12/12/2019 23:51

I’m so depressed about this.

DippyAvocado · 12/12/2019 23:53

It’s all about Brexit. People want brexit done.

It will be interesting to see what happens when people realise that Brexit is far from done. Whatever Johnson does with his "oven-ready" deal, Brexit is going to go on for years. How will the voters who elected BJ react in 4/5 years time when it's still rumbling on?

Puzzledandpissedoff · 12/12/2019 23:55

People want brexit done. That’s why Labour areas have swung to Tory

Yes, that's what McDonnell's just said ... but it's going to take a lot more self realisation than that if they ever wish to be electable again

StrangeLookingParasite · 12/12/2019 23:56

It’s all about Brexit. People want brexit done.

Then there are going to be a shit-ton of disappointed idiots, who trusted Johnson to ever keep his word. He doesn't even know what the truth is any more.

augustusglupe · 12/12/2019 23:58

Cheers Wine

Abc123def · 12/12/2019 23:59

You know. I don’t give a shit about this country anymore. I’m going to only think of my kids and family and live my life. But how can I do this when there are children in poverty and people using food banks? My humanity won’t let me forget these people. What the fuck is wrong with this country. Fuck it. Let it all go to shit.

Happysummer2020 · 13/12/2019 00:03

Depresses me when people 'cheers' the idea of destroying the NHS and moving society towards a more individualistic one that does not support the vulnerable.

I dont understand it. Either people like that are incredibly stupid or just utterly selfish.

olivertwistwantsmore · 13/12/2019 00:05

Oh I know that! I think some people think if the govt gets a Brexit deal through Europe then it will all be over, when in reality it’s just all starting. Negotiating hundreds of trade deals will take years and fucking years.

It’s all depressing whichever way you look at it.

I reckon in five years the scales will have fallen from people’s eyes and the vote will swing back to labour.

Gingernaut · 13/12/2019 00:13

Blyth Valley 'fallen' to Conservatives.

Been Labour since constituency was created in 1950.

www.bbc.co.uk/news/politics/constituencies/E14000575

'Traditional', working class areas voted for Brexit, Lib Dems want to stop Brexit and Labour just seemed to sit on the fence.

This election was about Brexit. Nothing else.
