How busy was your polling station?

I had to queue at the polling station this morning. That has never happened before. It was at about 07.45, it was raining and I'd have said it's a safe Tory seat where people might think their vote doesn't count.

Anybody else seeing signs of high/low turnout?

Busier than I've seen compared to the last few times we voted. We did got at a slightly later time but I also saw plenty of people on their way to the polling station as well.

WrongKindOfFace · 12/12/2019 16:57

Very quiet at 7:55am. Just two of us.

ReceptacleForTheRespectable · 12/12/2019 17:00

How do I know if my seat is safe or not? They were Tory, then Labour. There were only 915 votes between them last year

That's nowhere near being a safe seat - you live in a marginal.

Busier. Definitely busier, and I voted in the pouring rain at 2pm. Safe labour seat usually.

TwattingDog · 12/12/2019 17:01

1030am, and much busier than I've ever seen it despite the torrential rain.

For comparison, I live in a safe seat, and the incumbent got 20,000 more votes than 2nd place in 2017.

chocolicious · 12/12/2019 17:03

DH and I walked to our local primary school to vote around 3pm.Steady stream of people going in and out.About 3 people in front of us to get voting paper.

TheEmojiFormerlyKnownAsPrince · 12/12/2019 17:04

Busier than I’ve seen before at mine. Sheffield Hallam, Nick Cleggs old seat. Never returns a Conservative. Lots of people around

smileylottie87 · 12/12/2019 17:07

Wasn't overly busy but I went at a quiet time, everyone who was there did have matching shoes on though Grin

Peanutbutteryogurt · 12/12/2019 17:08

Me and three other people. It was about 1pm and utterly pissing down.

funnyfeeling · 12/12/2019 17:10

Bit busier than usual here. Don't normally see anyone else but there were a few in passing. It was at 2pm though so probably not a high traffic time.

IamPickleRick · 12/12/2019 17:12

I went at 9.15

Just me and my toddler in there.

Nat6999 · 12/12/2019 17:15

Very quiet, I'm disabled & for once I was able to park right outside. The polling clerk told me it was coming in short bursts & from what they could see they forecast numbers to be up on 2017.

ProfYaffle · 12/12/2019 17:15

Just got back, we're a village so it's bound to be quietish but it was busiest I've ever seen it. A queue almost formed!

fussychica · 12/12/2019 17:16

Just been as there was a break in the weather. Surprisingly busy, constant stream of people. Car park was packed. We walked. Safe Tory seat so like OP I was a bit surprised to see so many people out and about in the awful weather.

Nannewnannew · 12/12/2019 17:18

1other lady in polling station. No cars parked outside, but do live in a small village, so not surprised.

fruityconfusedhotdog · 12/12/2019 17:22

We went at a quiet time (10.30am) and - while there were no queues - there was a steady stream of people. Very safe Labour seat.

WeCameToDanceWithTheDead · 12/12/2019 17:23

I went around 9ish. One other person arrived as I was leaving however last vote it was completely empty before, during and after I voted so an improvement!
Safe Labour seat here anyway so I wonder if a lot of people are past bothering.

inwood · 12/12/2019 17:29

I was the only person there, 9am this morning.

PatsyStone39 · 12/12/2019 17:33

I went around 1 this afternoon and it was mobbed. I had to queue for about 15 mins and by the time i left, i could hardly move for people coming in. I'm in the safe green seat - but hopefully that changes.

Disneydarlings · 12/12/2019 17:34

Only 4 others with me at our polling station.

Baaaahhhhh · 12/12/2019 17:37

Driven past our village polling station several times today, from 7.30 through to 3.30pm and the car park was full each time..... OK, only 20 spaces, but that's unusual. DH and I went to vote at 3.30pm and there was a steady stream of people. Looks like a high turnout to me. Safe Tory seat.

InMySpareTime · 12/12/2019 17:38

Busier than usual at 9am and 4.30pm when me and mine went. Was in a cafe by a different polling station, that had a busier than usual steady stream of people all morning.
Tory constituency, was safe but becoming more marginal every election as incumbent is a rabid brexiteer in a solid remain area.

dreamyflower · 12/12/2019 17:39

I was the only one in mine at 2. Husband said it was empty at 9 as well.

GETTINGLIKEMYMOTHER · 12/12/2019 17:39

Not at all busy but it was just gone 4 pm so many people still at work.

It's a residential area, outer SW London, but having voted there many times over the years, I've never seen it very busy. The only time it was anything like busy was just before it closed at 10 pm on referendum day in 2016 - dh and I only just made it after a long drive from friends in Devon.
