How busy was your polling station?

I had to queue at the polling station this morning. That has never happened before. It was at about 07.45, it was raining and I'd have said it's a safe Tory seat where people might think their vote doesn't count.

Anybody else seeing signs of high/low turnout?

Busier than usual and more young people.

ohmysoul · 12/12/2019 13:04

Definitely busier. I'm normally the only one in mine when I get there and it had lots of people coming and going today!

I was the only one in at 12 (safe labour seat)

Constant stream at mine but not long queues. Seen friends on sm who have long queues, also in safe seats.

Legomadx2 · 12/12/2019 13:07

Handful of us at 9am.

GeorgieTheGorgeousGoat · 12/12/2019 13:07

It’s raining here all day so I’m hoping it will keeo some of the older (Tory) voters away! Doubt it will make a difference as we’re in a massively safe seat but it will make me feel better if the gap narrows.

slartibarti · 12/12/2019 13:08

Busier than usual at 9am, lots of elderly people.
Unsafe Tory seat.

LeekMunchingSheepShagger · 12/12/2019 13:09

It was the busiest I’ve ever seen it. Only about 10 people queuing, but I’ve never queued there before.

frazzledasarock · 12/12/2019 13:09

No queues but a constant stream of people coming in.

Did see several people being turned away as they hadn’t registered. One bought in a letter which you have to fill in to confirm the number of people in the house eligible to vote. She was turned away as hadn’t registered!

LarkDescending · 12/12/2019 13:10

Quiet at midday - not a peak voting time.

Lunafortheloveogod · 12/12/2019 13:10

Barely anyone (6 people total) at half 12. But im not in a large area this year so maybe that’s normal.

Weekday28 · 12/12/2019 13:11

No one else at mine at 8.30. Lots of secondary school children going into school though discussing who they would vote for, so hopefully a higher turn out next time.

Scoose · 12/12/2019 13:12

No one at ours

DarlingNikita · 12/12/2019 13:12

Quiet (me, DP, three others) at about 10.30am, which is an odd/quiet time of day, I think. Safe Labour seat.

NaToth · 12/12/2019 13:12

8:00am in suburbia in a safe Labour seat - three people ahead of us.

Spudlet · 12/12/2019 13:14

No queues but there were other people there when I went, which hasn’t happened before. And the parking later on was pretty busy, but the village shop wasn’t, particularly. Although there may have been a lot of people at the coffee shop of course.

It’s in a new place this year, in the past it’s been at the school which is on the outskirts of the village. But now it’s in the pub which is right in the middle, with some parking outside. So I do wonder if that will affect turnout - it’s certainly more convenient now. Hopefully it will encourage people out.

bigbluebus · 12/12/2019 13:15

I went at 9.00 and it was more or less 1 in 1 out. The school up the road allows children to be dropped off at 8.40 so I may have just missed the rush! We're in a safe Tory seat in a working class village so many may not bother!

thiscouldbethehill · 12/12/2019 13:15

Busier than I have ever seen it. At 9am there was one old man leaving as I arrived and two old ladies arriving as I left. Normally there is no one else there at all. We are in one of the most marginal seats in the country.

CodenameVillanelle · 12/12/2019 13:16

The women there said it was the busiest they had ever seen.

Baguetteaboutit · 12/12/2019 13:16

I voted at 7:15, four people in front of me and still a queue as I was leaving.

BarbaraStrozzi · 12/12/2019 13:17

Very busy at mine - but next door to a primary school, so I think a lot of people were combining it with school drop off (though I voted in the referendum at a similar time in the morning on my way to work, and it wasn't as busy).

TreesSandSea · 12/12/2019 13:17

I never normally see anyone at mine.

I saw 5 people!

KatnissMellark · 12/12/2019 13:18

Big queue out into the rain at mine. Returning officer apologising as they'd never seen so many people so weren't really configured optimally to deal with it. Mega safe conservative seat at lunchtime

ItsNearlyMorning · 12/12/2019 13:19

Very quiet. Straight in. No queues.
No representatives from ANY party to ask who you voted for afterwards.
Absolutely tipping it down here and so cold.
Could actually park in the car park too and that's the first time it's ever happened!

KrampusTime · 12/12/2019 13:19

I just got back, I was the only person there.
