I’m sure there was a similar thread late December last year where a poster said they did heard that there was going to be an announcement from the palace the next day. There was - New Years honours list. But a lot of posters speculated (as weve dine here) that it was about the death of the queen or Prince Philip.

Someone's probably seen the BBC practice run (this was how a rumour got started in the 90s before the Internet) as they regularly do practise announcing this stuff.

I'm glad she's still alive, I sent her a Christmas card on Saturday. Only second class too!

@ememem84 yes lots of things will change (how long will it take us all to get used to singing God save the King?) but most of it will be a slow, gradual process even Charles' coronation probably won't be done for about a year. It will be a case of everything has changed, but nothing has changed. The Head of State powers will transfer instantaneously everything else will be dealt with in due course. There are outline plans in places and the details will be dropped in but given her age its not going to be a complete bolt from the blue.

@PhilomenaChristmasPie While it is a hoax, that website isn't one to link to. It's absolute bollocks. That 'story' just has the date updated every day. It existed on there last week, it existed on there a year ago. Look at all the 'hoax death' stories on there for other celebs. They are all the same and just the date at the top changes. As well as all the other stories that are the same story, just with another celeb's name inserted (hence the story about the Queen getting engaged!).

As an example, these 'stories' are all dated within the last couple of days.

'“Britney Spears dead 2019” : Singer killed by internet death hoax'
'“Lance Armstrong dead 2019” : Athlete killed by internet death hoax'
