I remember. I was only little but even I knew it was WRONG.

MilkTrayLimeBarrel · 13/11/2019 18:14

What on earth is PIE? Steak and kidney or chicken and mushroom? I literally have no idea.

Mummyoflittledragon · 13/11/2019 18:36

Paedophile Information Exchange

They wanted the age of consent lowered to 10 or abolished. Not sure which. Argued girls as young as 4 could consent to sex. Parliament took them quite seriously for a while before finally backing away. They mixed the message with gay rIghts to try to garner support. www.bbc.co.uk/news/magazine-26352378 bbc link because wiki is very long.

IamPickleRick · 13/11/2019 18:37

They received at least 2 government grants as well.

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 13/11/2019 18:38

I think those men were more interested in little boys. Age of consent 10.

People got all ‘right on’ and backed them - I guess in today’s parlance it would have been in the name of ‘inclusivity’ and ‘empowerment’.

Mummyoflittledragon · 13/11/2019 18:40

Boys and girls. Different paedos, different tastes. Yuk!

I can imagine if the technology available then was as sophisticated as now they would have got a lot further in their endeavour.

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 13/11/2019 18:42

Or have they...? There is some stuff on twitter that doesn’t even try to hide their motives and fritter just lets them get on with it. It’s MAP now...

JessicaRarebit · 14/11/2019 20:40

I’m galled by some of the opinions on here. To the posters who assert that all men are perverted predators do you have partners? Would they spend their afternoon wanking into a pair of knickers in an M&S changing rooms in the hopes they may get a peek at a woman? What the actual fuck is this world coming to?

This is a thread about M&S food for fucks sake. Boycott M&S all you want but let’s not mar every man as complete sexual miscreants.

And to the point about the changing rooms - with respect to safety etc. won’t there always be a member of staff there?

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 14/11/2019 20:47

Who said that all men are pervs?

TheChampagneGalop · 14/11/2019 20:59

It's enough that a few of them are total perverts though, isn't it? Did you see those reviews from the M&S website?
That's the type of man who wants to be in a women's lingerie changing room. That's the type of man M&S are now practically inviting in to get comfortable in women's changing rooms.

AutumnCrow · 14/11/2019 21:03

Nobody said that Jessica.

And no, there isn't always a member of staff around.

And even if there were, if the M&S policy is that a man can go in the women's changing rooms if it makes him feel 'comfortable', then what's the staff member who needs the job actually going to do?

Very very different from clearly signed, avoidable, unisex cubicles.

PurpleCrowbar · 14/11/2019 21:31

My cousin is a M&S manager.

She lives near my elderly parents & frequently tops up their freezer with staff discounted/free because sell by date food. Which is nice of her & greatly appreciated.

Aged ps are comfortably off but do love a bargain; cousin is especially close to my mum since her own mother, my aunt, died; I live far away so am not able to perform regular freezer filling - everyone is happy!

But the food really isn't all that. When you stop seeing it through a lens of unctuous advertising & instead it's 'oh we've got three of those lasagnes in the freezer, meh, I'll do that for tea' - it's actually a very very average supermarket lasagne.

Aged ps now look forward to my visits in part as I cook & freeze far nicer meals for them, which makes a change from M&S meh when they can't be bothered to cook & just want something out of the freezer.

Also, there's the wankers in the women's changing room thing.

My mother won't tell my (lovely) cousin to stop shoving a few short dated ready meals her way - they are definitely useful if boring, plus she loves my cousin & doesn't want to upset her.

But she's certainly not planning on shopping there again, so long as her granddaughters, my dds, can't have a women only changing room to try on a bra.

Sexnotgender · 14/11/2019 21:42

No Jessica, no one is saying all men are pervs. Please learn to read properly.

Over 98% of sexual crimes are perpetrated by males. Males AS A CLASS, present a risk to females AS A CLASS. This is why sex segregated spaces exist.

stuckinreverse · 14/11/2019 22:07

another here who will no longer be shopping in marks, the womens changing rooms in my store are obviously now unisex & the counter has gone, no assistants are ever in there, i go in a lot & haven't seen an assistant in the past year, the same for the lingerie section. it's really sad that this is happening, it's an absolute disgrace, we're all supposed to bow down & be polite about it because of course it's not acceptable for women to get angry is it 🙄 fuck that shit. to the others who don't see what the problem is go & read through some of the comments on the marks website for the lingerie section, it's so obvious these men are getting off on it!

OMGshefoundmeout · 14/11/2019 22:24

I love the peanut butter and caramel chocolates in an orange bag and am unconcerned about the changing room policies.

GetbusywiththeFizzee · 14/11/2019 22:27

No to M&S( leaze ) from me, will miss the San Francisco sourdough the most, often popped in for bits and pieces. Will be giving it a wide berth so they can cater to their preferred customer base, men.

Wildorchidz · 14/11/2019 23:08

Is this policy only in the UK stores?
My sister was in Dublin this week and she said it was women only changing rooms ...

MollyHuaCha · 15/11/2019 00:48

It's women only.

But anyone can announce they are 'a woman' that day, regardless of anatomy and appearance.

It's a pervert's dream - grab a few bras from the shelf and nip into the female changing room for half an hour.

Leflic · 15/11/2019 06:34

“Women” only is the problem. M&S let men change in them too if they feel “more comfortable” in them. I’d suggest to JessicaRabbit that most peoples husbands and partners wouldn’t feel comfortable in a womans changing room.
At least with Unisex changing rooms you know what you’re getting.

Some M&S food is noticeable nicer - weirdly their pita bread tastes much better than other supermarkets. Percy Pigs are disgusting though.I can’t believe that a store that sells so many ready meals gets so much love though.

Bl00mingCactus · 15/11/2019 07:02

98% committing may be male but considering the vast majority of U.K. men are law abiding citizens and 90% of attackers are known to victims I’d say it’s highly unlikely that you’ll come to any harm in an M&S. changing room. Dd and I will continue to buy our knickers and veggie samosas from there. Far more likely to get in a lather over not being able to have access to a female gp.

AwdBovril · 15/11/2019 07:17

I’m not buying clothing from M&S any more (haven’t for a while, TBH, as it’s mostly nasty plastic crap like everywhere else), & there is only 1 item I’ll be buying from the food court now. (I have a bloody awful health condition with a lot of food sensitivities, it’s not easy to find treats) but as soon as I find anywhere that sells a suitable alternative I’ll be switching. We used to buy a lot of food from there as it’s our nearest supermarket but I don’t believe in them anymore, much like they seem to believe that women aren’t really an actual thing.

Nanalisa60 · 15/11/2019 07:22

Well as I do t need to go into a changing room to buy my favourite pub gastro chicken Kiev’s !! And those delicious lemon curd Whitby buns i
Also love there white cloths washing liquid I will continue to buy them.

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 15/11/2019 07:26

Far more likely to get in a lather over not being able to have access to a female gp. well you do realise the natural conclusion of self ID... ‘female’ means nothing now.

AwdBovril · 15/11/2019 07:28

If men want to change in unisex facilities because that’s where they feel more comfortable, fair enough. However, a) everyone should be informed so they know the facilities are unisex, & b) if (female) women want single sex facilities n which to change so they can feel comfortable, why can that not be accommodated?

Is it, possibly, because a small minority of the males pushing for access to the women’s facilities only feel they have been “accommodated” when natal women are pushed into second place?

nolongersurprised · 15/11/2019 07:55

May I ask, genuinely, why are some PPs presuming that a man in a unisex dressing room is going to be a predator! I mean wtf is happening to us!

M and S has men’s and women’s changing rooms but people can change wherever they feel most “comfortable”.

Most men, nearly all men, would feel most comfortable in correctly sexed changing rooms. My DH wouldn’t dream of trying on clothes in the “women’s” space. Even my 6 year old son insists on using male spaces when we’re out.

So- have a think about which type of men actually want to get changed next to women. Maybe some gender non-confirming types, maybe those previously known as transvestites who feel at risk of male violence in male spaces.

Who else? We know that men covertly peep and women and get sexual thrills from being near them and maybe watching them when they get changed. Then there’s the wankers (literally) and the ones who get off on exhibitionism. NAMALT but the ones who are are going to be ecstatic that they can legitimately change alongside us.
