Always loved treating myself to bits in Mark's and Spencer's food but I've been in today got afew meal deals eg 2 x large pizzas and 3 sides for ten pounds great and yes I'm never going to buy my weekly shop in there but some stuff is actually really good price and it's such lovely quality food!

Aldi sushi is much nicer than M & S. They both do an identical beetroot hummus and rocket salad which is of course much cheaper in Aldi. The vegan food is indeed rank. Anyway, as I said, they don't value women enough to keep us safe in changing rooms, so they can FOTTFSOFATFOSM.

Glenthebattleostrich · 12/11/2019 16:34

Hey M&S marketing dept. Did these person responsible for making the changing rooms unisex despite the blatantly obvious implications (just see the reviews on some of the underwear) think posting this here was a good idea?

I'm actually embarrassed for you.

commanderdalgliesh · 12/11/2019 16:36

I have never eaten a bad meal fromM&S, I love it. Much better than Waitrose. If you do work for M&S OP I think you're doing great - try not to go bust as I will be very upset 😢

Ness1234 · 12/11/2019 16:37

Can’t bear the thought of going into a M&S now......a big thank you to the Mumsnetters who went into the Sheffield branches to ask the staff about the changing room policy.

buckleten · 12/11/2019 16:38

I love M&S food, it is generally way better quality than the supermarkets. However, I do think their fruit is overpriced and would always buy that elsewhere.

WotchaTalkinBoutWillis · 12/11/2019 16:52

I'm actually embarrassed for you.

Grin I'm finding myself more embarrassed for anyone who automatically puts their tin foil hat on and gets all paranoid that it's all a ploy to fool the gullible heaven forbid anyone can just have a different opinion Grin Seriously, not healthy.
LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 12/11/2019 16:52

I’m amused at the M&S love going on - people tell ally love all the food there? The ready made food isn’t great, sandwiches are not good - the veggie samosas are nice - pizzas greasy. Vegan range is horrible - god knows what’s in the ‘protein’. Roast potatoes/chips oily and lacking in taste.

Was decent for tins of biscuits, veggie samosas and fresh fruit.

StellaRockafella · 12/11/2019 16:57

I just find it so disappointing and uninspiring. It used to be so much better or maybe my tastes were very different when I was younger. Most Saturday late afternoons I find myself wondering round aimlessly trying to find something I want for dinner and always fail miserably. Indeed, last Saturday I bought a pack of chocolate teacakes, and then headed to Waitrose.

I do like their reductions on vegetables though, and why I go on Saturdays as my local branch is closed Sundays.

Shannith · 12/11/2019 16:58

Hello hapless M&S PR person.

We're a tough crowd. Good luck.

slipperywhensparticus · 12/11/2019 17:03

The gluten free crackers made my teeth squeak wet cardboard rubbed with chilli powder would have been more appetising

Plus of course the dicks in the dressing room are an absolute turn off specifically when they have curtains that dont close and show everything off to the world floor to ceiling cubicles with locks on ffs it's not that hard to protect vulnerable people

WotchaTalkinBoutWillis · 12/11/2019 17:07

Vegan range is horrible

Well, that's a matter of opinion - some of it's gorgeous. For anyone who still shops there (and there'll be a lot) the dirty fries and the macaroni cheese are great....
One thing I miss about not being able to eat much cheese as vegan cheese is usually crap but these are yum

PrettyShiningPeople · 12/11/2019 17:14

Oh, and no one who can actually cook does their weekly shop there anyway.

Yep. To me it’s for ready meals & preprepared stuff. It’s really difficult to find what you want when looking for ingredients to make your own meal.

Janleverton · 12/11/2019 17:19

I miss the salmon Christmas sandwich from last year. Gutted.

DontCallMeShitley · 12/11/2019 17:22

I find the food is overpriced, not all but most. I stopped buying the bread once because it was very salty, then again because bakery items are not covered and protected from the general public sneezing on and mauling it.

NotJustACigar · 12/11/2019 17:31

Some of the vegan food was ok when we first had it but we both got sick of it really quickly. Compared with Whole Foods where I shop when in London or the States, M&S is rubbish (and Waitrose has gone downhill in the past few years, too).

stucknoue · 12/11/2019 17:31

I don't get the issue with changing rooms, they are individual. Lots of shops here have mixed changing, it's just a non issue.

MarshaBradyo · 12/11/2019 17:34

Oh dear bad times

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 12/11/2019 17:36

Not if you don’t wasn’t to change in mixes sex rooms with curtains and/or spaces at top and bottom.

If you want a flavour of the prospective changing room mates then just take a look at the lingerie reviews and ask of yourself want your teenage daughter having her first bra fitting alongside Highlander20. Also wonder what men really want to change alongside women...

BloodyCats · 12/11/2019 17:40

I don’t understand those boycotting M&S. I don’t much fancy sharing a changing room with a man either but is it really worth it? There are so many shops I go to that have have mixed changing rooms and no one has an issue with them.

Personally I would not want to see this old company go under for the sake of mixed changing.

maternityleavequestion · 12/11/2019 17:42

Mixed changing rooms means I won't be clothes in M&S any longer.
I went into my separate food hall today to buy a couple of bits came to £40 everything was over priced and over packaged - but I have jet lag and it's the only grocery shop on my way home. I won't be doing that again - better to set up an online shop - would have been much cheaper!

1Bobbinwinder · 12/11/2019 17:46

Ok I will say I think the food is really good quality. I have had to buy a few things there in the last 6 months and have been surprised at how much better they are than other supermarket versions. In particular bagged salad, roast chicken and their own brand dark chocolate digestives

treepolitics · 12/11/2019 17:46

Ha I love their fruit, veg, chicken and fish (and the pizza deal), plus the bread. I like the plant range - agree not all of it is wonderful but why would I expect everything to appeal?

treepolitics · 12/11/2019 17:46

Their special purchases from around the world are nice too for people that like to cook. I’m really hoping we can get online shopping soon as I’d love that.

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 12/11/2019 17:46

Personally I would not want to see this old company go under for the sake of mixed changing. maybe a store who ignores it’s main customer base for a fad needs a boot up the backside - it exists to serve the customer after all.

BloodyCats · 12/11/2019 17:49

Food wise I’m not a big fan of the ready meals, I do think they are overpriced.

The meat is very good quality though and doesn’t appear to be pumped with water and antibiotics like some other supermarkets. The olives are delicious too.
