Not done one of these for a while, but I always really enjoy hearing about people's clothes (especially the bargains and the amazingly expensive things some people get the chance to wear).
Today I am wearing a pair of boyfriend jeans (Next) that were £5 from the chazza as well as a long sleeved rust-coloured t-shirt with small paisley type print on it (M&S) that was £3 also from chazza. Over this I have a thin navy sweater (H&M) also £3. Socks were cheapo pack of three (£6)(emergency purchase on camping trip when my feet were very cold). M & S pants (6 pack for £12) and an M & S bra from the sale (£8). My shoes are very chunky brown leather lace-ups, brand I've not heard of before (Fun & co !!) that look like 'Art' brand, also chazza for around £7.
I work for myself from home and have three children who are getting under my feet in half term.
Over to you lot.

I am wondering if this is a cost thing, a way to get branded/quality clothing cheaper or an ethical preference for pre-loved/vintage. A mix of reasons perhaps.

^^ I had to much time on my hands during maternity and spent a bomb on kids clothes, toys, books ect. To save abit of cash I switched to charity shops.

Started picking up adult stuff. Get a literal high off a good find. I can get amazing quality stuff for peanuts. You just have to love the chase. I know it's not for everyone. I adore pieces that have stood the test of time and have a story behind them.

Also guilty of browsing depop and eBay in evenings, which is great if you can't be bothered scouring charity shops.

A silk blouse with a painted watercolour effect flowers on. This was from the chazza around £4 last year. It's gorgeous, deep cuffs and lovely collar. I wore a navy quilted jacket over it to the shops which is Laura Ashley but bought in the charity shop for around £6 last year. On my feet were tobacco brown leather loafers from M and S but which I bought for £1!! again from a charity shop a couple of weeks ago.

Yesterday I said I usually dress smarter but actually I’m not working again until 5/11! So all my favourite comfy clothes will be out while off with the DC.
Today I am wearing....
Some boho trousers with a fantastic print! Bought brand new with tags from a charity shop, think tag said £18 but I paid £1.
A black vest style top from asda George that was in a 2 for £6 offer so £3.
Christmas pudding pants I bought post sale in Asda George for 25p.
Black socks from a multipack so maybe £1?
Currently nothing on my feet as we’re indoors now after the cinema.
I had worn a mustard coloured lightweight puffer jacket and some plain black leather style pumps out too.
Jacket was £5 in primark at an end of season sale and shoes were £8 also from primark.

@shinynewapple I buy mostly second hand for 2 main reasons. The first is that I am a single parent so budgeting is essential for us and if I were to buy everything new I doubt we’d be able to afford holidays, days out and would struggle more so with big school trips abroad ect. Secondly I am very passionate about reducing our carbon footprint and the waste we produce. I’ve never been too fussed on branded things (although If I find a quality item at a reduced price I would probably get it if we needed it). I’m pretty against consumerism and prefer to live simply and don’t like to buy material things unless we really need them.

HerculesTheBercules · 26/10/2019 13:39
