Never seen it before in my life - until today when I watched all of series one (off sick just now).

How can I not have seen this before? Absolutely fabulous stuff. Alison Steadman is so identical to my Auntie Steff I can't believe it. Grin

No point to my post other than it's so nice to watch something that genuinely makes you laugh and I can't remember the last time that happened with a TV programme. Smile

Whatstodo2019 · 11/10/2019 16:51

I watched it for the first time in May this year and I've watched it all 3 times now Smile it's helping me get through my mat leave, I love it because it really makes me happy, not many other shows leave me with the same feeling

Nowaypastmythighs · 11/10/2019 17:01

I too have just finished watching all the episodes for the first time. Loved it. Uncle Bryn is brilliant, and I swear Ness is based on my cousin Carol (Carol if you’re reading this - that’s a compliment!)

BarbedBloom · 11/10/2019 17:05

@SpiderCharlotte Phew. I read the end of books too Grin

My BF rang me in tears after she'd seen the first one because she said they'd modelled Pamelar on me. One of the best compliments ever I reckon.

OP if you love this try Derry Girls next to help your withdrawal symptoms when you've watched the lot.

lololove · 11/10/2019 17:57

@PivotPivotPivottt try the iplayer, my love :) just checked and its there www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episodes/b007nf70/gavin-stacey

LiveFatsDieYoGnu · 11/10/2019 19:10

I’ll have a pint...of wine.

Gets said regularly at my house Grin

MrsGrindah · 11/10/2019 19:40

I once really did have a pint of wine.

It was lush.

CMOTDibbler · 11/10/2019 19:53

Me too MrsGrindah. I used to go to a beer festival where we'd get our festival pint glasses on Friday for the beer, then roll out of our tents on Saturday and drink wine, and its much more convenient to have wine in a pint mug when sitting on the floor. 4 wine glass measures to the pint iirc

Chickenpie9 · 11/10/2019 20:06

It always makes me incredibly hungry watching it nearly every episode involves a get together and food ! My own favourite bit is when Pete gets drunk in the Italian and Mick stands there all confused

BernadetteRostankowskiWolowitz · 11/10/2019 20:33

Oh god I adore this show.

I love the bit in Pam and Micks house when they are talking about the curry and Smithy goes on a full on rant about sharing etc ending with "nevermind I'll eat mine in the car".

I think Pam is my favourite, followed closely by Bryn. Oh god, the singing along to James Blunt in the Picasso

sweetkitty · 11/10/2019 20:35

I’m the same binge watched all 3 series last week Grin bloody loved it

WinterHoliday · 11/10/2019 20:35

The episode in the Italian restaurant was the first one I saw and I loved it! I had always assumed it would be something I'd hate. I am looking forward to the Christmas special but I'm worried it won't live up to my expectations.

MrsGrindah · 11/10/2019 20:36

We have friends who don’t understand why we won’t share an Indian takeaway..I made them watch that scene.

Mimsnethe · 11/10/2019 20:36

I have quite a thing for Mick. Not even Larry Lamb, but actual Michael Shipman. He’s tall, he can cook, he’s a great dad, dedicated husband, very diplomatic, looks great in a kimono... and knows his way around a pair of pointy ears.

MrsGrindah · 11/10/2019 20:38

Also, when something unexpected happens I’ll exclaim “ Oh my Christ!” and clasp my hands to my cheeks.

And I often mutter darkly “ Guilt sweets!”

sweetkitty · 11/10/2019 20:43

Totally agree with everyone else Stacey is so annoying, Gavin not much better, the supporting characters are fab.

JustHereWithPopcorn · 11/10/2019 20:50

Best series ever! Can't wait for Christmas Day for the special Grin

AllDaySnacker · 11/10/2019 20:50

I loved the shower head tucked beneath the kitchen sink in the flat they went to view.

Doris is the best. I often wondered what it would be like to meet her in person.

Groovee · 11/10/2019 20:51

I love it! It's one that I can watch over and over.

Looking forward to the Christmas episode.

redexpat · 11/10/2019 20:52

When Nessa comes down for the batteries from the tv remote - for some me time - and then comes in a few minutes later and washes her fingers. I think I spotted that om my third viewing.

PivotPivotPivottt · 11/10/2019 20:55

lololove

Thank you will watch some in bed tonight Grin

FredaFrogspawn · 11/10/2019 21:14

So how old will Neil - The baby - be by the Christmas special? I’m still reeling from Baby David being a huge boy in The Royale Family. I want to be prepared for it this time.

FredaFrogspawn · 11/10/2019 21:25

I’m a mess, Ness!

You’re eating Ham, Pam!

CMOTDibbler · 11/10/2019 21:26

Without looking up the dates, I can tell you for sure that Gavins car in the series was registered in 1999 because my car was exactly the same, and I bought it in Cardiff in 99 - the registration is only two digits different

FaithInfinity · 11/10/2019 22:36

Ever notice that Gavin’s car changes number plate?! Same make and model but it goes from a T reg to an X reg part way through!
