Never seen it before in my life - until today when I watched all of series one (off sick just now).

How can I not have seen this before? Absolutely fabulous stuff. Alison Steadman is so identical to my Auntie Steff I can't believe it. Grin

No point to my post other than it's so nice to watch something that genuinely makes you laugh and I can't remember the last time that happened with a TV programme. Smile

@beatriceprior Do you have an iphone? If so, go to the podcasts icon/app (it’s purple) and search and subscribe from there.

If you have another type of phone you can download a podcast app (Podcast Republic is good) and go from there.

Alternatively, if you have Spotify, it’s on there.

Pam and Mick are the best - relationship goals!

And Smithy’s takeaway rant Grin

Such a great programme, will be watching again from beginning prior to the Xmas special.

I can't think of anything better than a sick day on the sofa watching this..other than the actual illness part! Grin

I love it so much! I went to uni in Cardiff and we often did day trips to Barry Island Smile so it makes me nostalgic and laugh at the same time.

There’s so many classic lines but I often see people make stupid comments and just want a GIF that says Don’t be a twat Stace!. It’s comedy gold in many ways because of the situations, like the night they get pissed at Pam and Mick’s before the spa/golf days. It’s not really about things happening but most people can relate to nights like that that we’re not a planned big night but everyone ends up hammered! Also some brilliant one liners. It’s not officially Christmas til I’ve watched the special!

I am looking forward to the Christmas special, I just hope it lives up to expectation. Doris was a show stealer though, won’t be the same without her! RIP Margaret John.

I’m not welsh..but feel like I was practically brought up in Cardiff / Ely/ Barry even though we only went down for one week ever year.
We lived a lifetime in that week..
The welsh side are so like my family.
Like when my cousin Pam got pregnant at 17 and my uncle said to my dad shall we go round and knock Bobbys head off
The mistress , who was a sweet little welsh woman, plain as a mouse, but when her man’s wife went to work...she’d slip round to his house.
When Pam found Bobby with the 16 year old babysitter and she knocked his block off
The night me and my friend walked all the way back from the Mayfair ballroom..a distance of about 6 miles to Ely after the late night disco and dad nearly killed us.
I don’t know how I even remembered the way
Aunt Ed would stick her curling tongs in the gas job..and singed her hair.
Uncle Jerry reversing his car all the way back from the Severn bridge to Ely...late at night..because that was the only gear he could get

Great times..and as a young kid..I took it all in
Was back again in August and nothings changed
Barry island is a bit posher
My family are still slugging it out...not physically..more bluster..but so entertaining.

I loved Ness.
She was just amazing.

EleanorReally · 10/10/2019 22:30

Fuck the salad

WhatTimeIsItCuckoo · 10/10/2019 22:37

I love it and am rewatching it at the min too. Love Bryn, he's hilarious, love the line dancing he's arranged for Gwen's Birthday when he's pretending to be all laid back about it but is really tense and worked up. Also love Nessa in the amusement arcade just repeatedly saying 'Oh!' to the kids messing with the machines. Pam's brilliant too Grin. I think a lot of it is that the cast just work so well together, reminds me a bit of The Good Life in that respect showing my age Smile

Starlight2004 · 10/10/2019 22:37

I love it!!
"Chicken bhuna, lamb bhuna, prawn bhuna, mushroom rice, bag of chips, 9 popadoms" Smile

TheScruffyDog · 10/10/2019 22:38

DH is Welsh (he's basically uncle Bryn) and I call him a leek munching sheep shagger at least once a week. We lived in Cardiff and Barry. I do miss it. Doris is amazing. As is Pam.

WhatTimeIsItCuckoo · 10/10/2019 22:39

Pam, 'Sag aloo, sag aloo' Grin

WhatTimeIsItCuckoo · 10/10/2019 22:40

'It's all the drama Mick, I just love it!' GrinGrin

WhatTimeIsItCuckoo · 10/10/2019 22:46

Also love Nessa's 'O sama, O bama' to 'Neil, the baby' and 'Oh, Oh, Oh' when she's Santa GrinGrin

MagicKingdom17 · 10/10/2019 22:47

“ Truth be told, all I want to do is go out, get shitfaced and have a curry and a fight down Caroline Street.” Grin

Also love Julia Davis & Ruth Jones- check out “Nighty Night” as they’re both bloody excellent in this.

EleanorReally · 10/10/2019 22:51

Love nighty night, didn't know Ruth Jones was in it, love Dawn and Pete and their "black" man

Candymay · 10/10/2019 22:52

I was just talking about this show today! Really brilliant. I came to it years late- as I do with most shows. I’ve been telling my children about it to encourage them to watch as i know they will like it. Alison Steadman is fantastic but what about Rob Brydon? I love him!

My latest watch is Stath Lets Flats. I watched the two series in a few days. Brilliant show too.

Hinchunup · 10/10/2019 23:01

That's the Welsh for ya... Filth! The lorrathem...

Greyhound22 · 10/10/2019 23:03

It's the best series ever made.

Ooh you and me are going to fall out today Michael

I say that to DH quite a bit. His name isn't Michael

WhatTimeIsItCuckoo · 10/10/2019 23:08

Mick: He's a grown man, Pam!
Pam: You're getting on my wick, Mick!

I'm on a roll now Grin

hotcrossbun4321 · 10/10/2019 23:15

I absolutely adore it - yes to it being cosy - I often watch when DH is away travelling. Pam is fantastic and I love all the little details - Bryn talking about Dick Powell, reminds me of my dear late 'auntie' who was from the Valleys

bellsbuss · 10/10/2019 23:15

I love Gavin and Stacey and every now and again have a little binge session. Doris is a legend and I want to know what happened on the fishing trip.

SgtFredColon · 10/10/2019 23:15

‘Who’s having the gnocchi?!’

SpiderCharlotte · 10/10/2019 23:16

I admit I cried when Uncle Bryn read Stacy's dad's letter to her when they were on the way to the wedding. So lovely.

And how I love Pam and Mick!

It's just such a lovely, funny programme isn't it.

Uncle Bryn: Essex? That’s tantamount to London.
