Never seen it before in my life - until today when I watched all of series one (off sick just now).

How can I not have seen this before? Absolutely fabulous stuff. Alison Steadman is so identical to my Auntie Steff I can't believe it. Grin

No point to my post other than it's so nice to watch something that genuinely makes you laugh and I can't remember the last time that happened with a TV programme. Smile

It's like the cast were just meant to be. They're all fantastic, every one of them.

I love that they had the surnames as serial killers-west and shipman

And Pete and Dawn Sutcliff and Ness Jenkins!

NameChangeNugget · 10/10/2019 23:32

It’s utterly brilliant

I read somewhere that Ruth Jones and James Corden wrote Pam's character especially for Alison Steadman Smile

After crying all day about badgers on TV: 'But life goes on, those steaks won't cook themselves' Grin

Veterinari · 10/10/2019 23:36

@OhioOhioOhio
The Royle family
The Good life (old so you’ll need to search)

Both feel good family sitcoms focussed on the minutiae of everyday life

fedup21 · 10/10/2019 23:41

I love the bits about Smithy’s girlfriend and where she’s supposed to be. Netball tournament, swimming gala, venture scout outing etc!

Plus who could forget, ‘Where to she now?’ and ‘I’ll be there now in a minute!’

FaithInfinity · 10/10/2019 23:41

We have a relative called Seth and we often say Seth’s gone! in Dawn’s voice!

The curry thing is hilarious because it’s true:
Someone will have ordered a korma, probably Stacey, am I right Mick? Grin

3 steaks Pam! Grin

fedup21 · 10/10/2019 23:43

I also love the names they have for people-Japanese Margaret, Big Fat Sue, Chinese and his Missus and Fat no more Pat!

FaithInfinity · 10/10/2019 23:43

fedup21 that’s such a Welsh thing! After 4 years there I got quite used to it and started using it but I’ll be there now sounded very odd to start with!

Teaseall · 10/10/2019 23:46

Ruth Jones is fab in Stella, which I believe she wrote.

Butterymuffin · 10/10/2019 23:52

You ready for an omelette OP? Smile

One of my all time favourite shows that I never tire of watching. SO looking forward to the new Christmas special! Don't care if it's not brilliant, will be great just to see them all again.

Boreda · 11/10/2019 00:00

@OhioOhioOhio try Stella if your looking for something similar it’s also written by Ruth Jones :)

Mythreefavouritethings · 11/10/2019 00:10

Aww it’s proper feel good, innit though?? 😂

NewtonPulsifer · 11/10/2019 00:30

Now I want an omelette!

Love this show. My husband is very like Mick, I wish I was more Pam.

HalfManHalfLabrador · 11/10/2019 00:39

It’s the best and nicest programme in all the world. Ever. I will brook no argument

HalfManHalfLabrador · 11/10/2019 00:49

Agree with pp about Stacey being an absolute melt though

AndNoneForGretchenWieners · 11/10/2019 00:54

My parents hate sitcoms but I introduced them to Gavin and Stacey because my dad's family all sound like Stacey's brood. They loves it, they do!

Greyhound22 · 11/10/2019 07:39

It's also the only series I'm guaranteed to cry at least twice.

Bryn and Stacey in the car.

When Nessa tells Gwen she's told people that her mother will be at the wedding because her mother is Gwen - 'that's you by the way - not Gwen from Budgens'

Absolute perfection - I've welled up now.

ilovetofu · 11/10/2019 07:49

3 steaks Pam 🤣🤣🤣

lololove · 11/10/2019 08:00

I literally finished rewatching the full series just a couple of days ago, love it Grin can't wait for the new one at Xmas.

The only thing that does let it down is Stacey as previous posters have said. There are a lot of times when she is deeply unpleasant despite meant to be this sweet lovely girl

SpiderCharlotte · 11/10/2019 08:06

I'm going for series 2 today.

What a time to be alive! 😃

BeanBag7 · 11/10/2019 08:21

I love the mundane conversations which are somehow hilarious, like when Pete and Mick talk about oven gloves.

MrsJBaptiste · 11/10/2019 08:46

Loved it when after Nessa talking about her famous old boyfriends, John Prescott actually turned up at her wedding 😁

MagicKingdom17 · 11/10/2019 08:59

Owain Hughes.
And before you ask, no I don’t.
