Mine was egg and crab purchased in an Italian bar. Closely followed by prawns in dill mayonnaise that Pret sold years ago.

You?

Oh and where I used to work in Glasgow there was a sandwich shop called Starvin Marvin and their Mexican chicken sandwiches were amazing

AutumnalMorning · 08/10/2019 21:04

Bacon, brie and cranberry on a warm white baguette.

Talkallday · 08/10/2019 21:05

Cheese, red pepper, rocket, chicken with either mayo or pesto!

isayhitocats · 08/10/2019 21:06

A one called a French Salad sandwich from a cafe in Newcastle called Mark Tony's. I make a special trip there if ever I'm in Newcastle.

Bloodybridget · 08/10/2019 21:08

Sausage and caramelized onion baguette.

HarryDaylight · 08/10/2019 21:13

My mum's tomato sandwiches when I was a child. If only I could time travel.

Millie2013 · 08/10/2019 21:16

SO many of these sound lovely. I’m really hungry now!

My go-to comfort sandwich is grated cheese, mixed with mayo, chopped cherry tomatoes and sliced spring onions, seasoned with pepper, on thinly sliced, chia seeded bread from a local bakery

TheNinkiestNonk · 08/10/2019 21:18

A sandwich shop in Sheffield which is sadly no longer there but they used to do Cajun chicken with lime dressing with lettuce on a soft white roll which was amazing
Also a tuna crunch, tuna mixed with red onion, mayo and peppers on a granary baguette.
And a cheese and homemade coleslaw on crusty white bagette
The most amazing sandwiches and I miss it on a daily basis!

DoubtingMyPatience · 08/10/2019 21:19

A drunkenly made ready salted crisp sandwich with thick white bread and lashings of butter.

Rig he after throwing up my bottle of rosè

kateemo · 08/10/2019 21:20

Salt beef bagel with mustard in Brick Lane. Eat half of the meat though and save the rest for a fresh bagel with a runny fried egg and salt beef sandwich for breakfast. YUM

bringonyourwreckingball · 08/10/2019 21:23

I had a toasted sourdough sandwich with emmental, blue cheese and cheddar, mushrooms, red onion and garlic and it was awesome. I have tried to recreate many times but with limited success.
Used to love a tuna mayo and Branston pickle toastie back in the day. Don’t knock it til you try it

Roussette · 08/10/2019 21:24

A bakery that is sadly no longer open

They did a sandwich called 'Wise Bird'. Always made fresh while you wait.

Thick wholemeal bread cut off a loaf. Mayo, chicken they carved off a cooked chicken in front of you, and big slices of stuffing. That's it. Divine.

AdaColeman · 08/10/2019 21:32

isayhitocats Is that in Grainger Street? I used to go there when I was a girl, for coffee & cake!

Whuut · 08/10/2019 21:38

Thick slices of goats cheese, roasted red peppers, pesto mayo, chilli jam and rocket on a seeded baguette. Its insane. Only one place does it and whenever I go near I have to get one.

When I was pregnant, not much came close to marmite, cheese and lettuce on granary tho.

soggypizza · 08/10/2019 21:53

Dh always spoke very fondly of the best ever cheese and tomato sandwich I use to make him - when we popped home from work for a quickie at lunch time...he hated sandwiches but that one was apparently amazing! 😂 😉

Lou0390 · 08/10/2019 21:54

It was a falafel sandwich at Glastonbury festival in The Greenfields bit.
Fresh pita, juicy olives, yogurt sauces, salsa and the best falafel I have ever tasted. It was teaming down with rain, I hadn't slept in days and I was so greatful to be in the dry eating this wonderful food. Happy days Smile

Whoopstheregomyinsides · 08/10/2019 22:18

I used to love a veggie chicken tikka they did at Asda of all places. Their sandwiches are all now rubbish - not had a decent one in ages
Really want a sandwich now though

AllTheWhoresOfMalta · 08/10/2019 22:24

A crab sandwich on wholemeal bread from a pub on the quayside in St. Ives, Cornwall. It was a good 20years ago but I still think about it sometimes.

Courtney555 · 08/10/2019 22:25

There was a little butchers that did carvery rolls when I was pregnant with DS.

1/3 soft french stick. Hog roast style pork. Stuffing. Splash of gravy. Apple sauce. (Added fried onions and mayo because of weird cravings).

Heaven.

Bloodybridget · 08/10/2019 22:26

Oh falafel in pita in Israel, that was always delicious. Better than I've ever had here.

jelly79 · 08/10/2019 22:33

I left a festival in Serbia for a 9 hour coach journey. I was so done in and starving and very fragile. A friend passed me half a deli sandwich. Pastrami, mustard, cheese and pickles

Will always remember that tiny sandwich

Grafittiqueen · 08/10/2019 22:48

I really miss the old greggs chargrilled chicken oval bite. They totally wrecked it.

Moremoneyplease · 08/10/2019 23:20

@Talcott2007 I used to live in Rome and still pop back regularly. Can you remember where the sandwich bar was so I can try it next time I'm there?? Sounds delicious!

newmummalion · 08/10/2019 23:26

New York Deli from Philpots sandwich shop in Birmingham

AudTheDeepMinded · 08/10/2019 23:42

MrsGrindah why? (nosy). Not visiting the Archaeology Dept are you? Wonder if the sandwich shop is still there?
