Good God Extinction Rebellion blocking a funeral hearse.

I know where they are coming from but for the love of God you dont block and/or lie under a funeral hearse. FGS think of the relatives and friends of the deceased and how they are feeling.

Unfuckingreal!

Ah that is poor behaviour. Not cool, kids, not cool.

MrGsFancyNewVagina · 07/10/2019 18:46

That was a fake funeral, put on for effect to represent the death of the world. I still think they’re a bunch of hypocritical tosses, acting as gate keepers of the world, while eating their bags of crisps and drinking out if their plastic bottles, while wearing nothing but the best of clothes.

Dinosforall · 07/10/2019 18:46

They brought it with them!

TequilaPilates · 07/10/2019 18:48

The hearse belonged to the protestor - it wasn't a real funeral.

FlibbertyGiblets · 07/10/2019 18:49

Phew. I've just checked news outlets and yes hearse is a stunt. As you were, kids.

Whatafackinliberty · 07/10/2019 18:55

Did you not bother to read anything before posting a froth thread?

Dyrne · 07/10/2019 18:57

It’s odd though, as so many people are going to see it out of context, think they were obstructing a genuine funeral; and think badly of them.

I think it’s interesting that there are paid staff there this time. The fact that they’re shouting encouragement actively asking people to get arrested makes me sad - there are so many better ways to advocate for the environment; getting arrested 1 hour in to the protest because you sat down and refused to move seems utterly pointless and does absolutely nothing to further the cause.

HelenaDove · 07/10/2019 18:57

I had the ITV London news on They didnt say anything about it being a stunt.

Doesnt it create more emissions driving a hearse there just for a stunt or transporting it on the back of a lorry.

Or did one of them carry it there on their shoulders.

Oh for fucks sake, OP, NO THEY DIDN'T BLOCK A FUNERAL HEARSE

It was a stunt - the representation of the dead planet

HelenaDove · 07/10/2019 19:00

Then they obviously need to sack the person in charge of PR and get a new one.

I totally get where they're coming from but they need to find different stunts to pull.

They will just begin to piss the general public off instead of getting their support.

AutumnCrow · 07/10/2019 19:02

Coffin protests are in my own living memory as old as CND, Amnesty International, Greenham Common. As strong metaphors.

PancakeAndKeith · 07/10/2019 19:04

acting as gate keepers of the world, while eating their bags of crisps and drinking out if their plastic bottles

Do they?

Dyrne · 07/10/2019 19:05

Whatafackinliberty well given that the organisers have said that they’re anticipating the protest disrupting emergency care at a hospital; and are actively wanting to fill up cells so that there are no officers able to tackle other (serious) crimes in the city; blocking a hearse seems positively tame in comparison and thus perfectly believable:

www.google.co.uk/amp/s/www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2019/10/06/extinction-rebellion-protesters-admit-could-disrupt-hospital/amp/

Fuma · 07/10/2019 19:05

They are twats regardless of whether it's a real hearse or not.

Dyrne · 07/10/2019 19:06

Hopefully they’ve at least learnt from last time not to disrupt public transport! That was an own goal!

ClumpingKate · 07/10/2019 19:07

It was THEIR hearse, part of the protest.
Please don't spread fake news.
And here is my first ever Biscuit

You know we're in serious shit right? They're trying to bring attention to the fact that it's far beyond what we as individuals can turn around. We need systemic change from governments and organisations. If they wore rags you'd just dismiss them as crusties anyway Hmm

HelenaDove · 07/10/2019 19:10

YY Dyrne thinking critically there.

I’d have shot them given the chance.

Good God Extinction Rebellion blocking a funeral hearse.
AutumnRose1 · 07/10/2019 19:10

Well they've caused enough traffic to make things very uncomfortable for ambulances

I mentioned on another thread, if this has happened last year my dad, who was being ferried between different hospitals for tests, would have had an even more miserable last few days on earth.

They are being utterly selfish bastards and apparently haven't heard the word "overpopulation". And anyone who has the joy of passing by them in town can see the plastic...it's batshit.

And I recall being told by similar groups that London would be under water in 5 years. That was more than 20 years ago.

Tomorrow I'll make sure to be singing "you need to calm down" when I work my way through.

London will be underwater in your children's or grandchildren's lifetimes.

Oh they'll do it again.
