Unplanned - Abortion Film **Trigger Warning** Title edited by MNHQ sensitive content*

Hi,
Last night I watched a film called Unplanned, which is based on a true story of a lady working within an abortion clinic called ‘Planned Parenthood’. The film itself brought me to tears on many occasions and it’s made me feel very uncomfortable surrounding abortion. I had an unplanned pregnancy with my third child but knew abortion wasn’t an option for me. I am quite shocked by the amount of abortions that still take place within our society. Does anyone else feel this way? I know we all have different views but i just wondered what other people’s thoughts were on this very sensitive topic.

How far do you extend this ? When a person is stabbed do you say they are being forced to experience major blood loss on account of the immediate lack of an available trained medic ? That a person is forced to do a shit unless someone pumps their stomach ? It's an abuse of the language.

WestBerlin · 22/09/2019 19:05

Sure, all applicable if the law is trying to prevent them from accessing care.

StockTakeFucks · 22/09/2019 19:05

Abuse of language GrinGrin

Next thing you'll say promoting choice is literal violence.Hmm

Saucery · 22/09/2019 19:06

My taxes are personally delivered to HMRC in a velvet and gilt box, with a note written on vellum detailing exactly what they are to be spent on and which specific curse will follow should my wishes not be respected (it involves Boils and Frogs and an itch equidistant between the shoulder blades - not pleasant).
It would seem @idontbelievethisnsmeistaken does not have this option, which is a dreadful shame Sad

JacquesHammer · 22/09/2019 19:06

It's an abuse of the language

You know very well it isn’t.

At least have the balls to admit your real reasoning instead of tying yourself in every more complex knots. For someone who has mentioned logic a number of times, you employ it very little to your own thought processes.

Saucery · 22/09/2019 19:07

‘Eventually’ let go @StockTakeFucks ? You’re a more patient woman than I.

RufusthebewiIderedreindeer · 22/09/2019 19:08

saucery

Oooh that’s lovely

Hmrc pop round to dhs office and drag it out of him kicking and screaming

He might be happier with the whole vellum thing...I’ll suggest it

StockTakeFucks · 22/09/2019 19:09

@Saucery well we wouldn't want to interfere with nature would we? Just let it take it's course .

MyNewBearTotoro · 22/09/2019 19:11

@idontbelievethisnsmeistaken - what is your opinion regarding your taxes being used to pay for IVF and similar fertility treatment, or embryo freezing for cancer patients? Many of these embryos created will not pass quality screening or simply will not need to be used and will be disposed of. Is this also wrong and murder? Or is it only murder when it’s done by a woman wanting to dispose of the embryo in her womb and not even it’s a scientist or doctor disposing of an embryo in a lab?

I also imagine it feels far easier to vilify those getting abortions when we can imagine that they’re all feckless women who care only about themselves than it does a doctor creating embryos for a saintly cancer patient. But if an embryo is a baby and killing it is murder why is it only abortion clinics that get the attention?

She’d probably want to know if they’d led a blameless life and didn’t have loose sexual morals, tbf.

idontbelievethisnsmeistaken · 22/09/2019 19:14

You know very well it isn’t.

Eh ? I consider that saying someone is being forced to do a piss unless there is a medical intervention to provide them with means to avoid having to pass urine, is not what most people understand by "force".

You have done nothing to convince me otherwise.

You were previous telling us how objection to abortion on moral grounds is nothing more than "misogyny" so i rather think it is you who needs to a little more thinking.

RufusthebewiIderedreindeer · 22/09/2019 19:14

Oops sorry

That didnt come out right at all

Cancer patients not having children obviously

God knows where the dying came from!

Apologies idont

JacquesHammer · 22/09/2019 19:15

I’m not trying to. You know what they say about arguing with stupids on the Internet...

idontbelievethisnsmeistaken · 22/09/2019 19:16

Oh, I don't personally mind at all, as I said my thoughts on abortion are inconsistent and a little hypocritical. What annoys me hugely is the entitlement and dismissal of those who object to abortion on moral grounds as nothing other than hard of thinking misogynists.

JacquesHammer · 22/09/2019 19:16

Actually I said “part of the issues”. I mean if you understand “part” to mean “nothing more” then I don’t know what to tell you.

Saucery · 22/09/2019 19:16

The Catholic Church does not approve of IVF for the reason that an embryo is a human life. Which is their right and not piss-takable in the least. I don’t cross their boundaries and make them have IVF or an abortion and they don’t cross mine and ban me from either. Which is how it should be.

JacquesHammer · 22/09/2019 19:17

Fortunately nobody on this thread did that so you can save your ire.

RufusthebewiIderedreindeer

I'm really sorry but Im not able to see your post, the previous page in the "conversation" is not loading for me.

You know what they say about arguing with stupids on the Internet.
grow up.

WestBerlin · 22/09/2019 19:19

So you have no problem with ‘baby murder’ when it’s embryos being created and destroyed in fertility treatments, but it is a problem when a woman doesn’t wish to be pregnant.

And the pro life position isn’t rooted in misogyny? Hmm

idontbelievethisnsmeistaken · 22/09/2019 19:20

they don’t cross mine and ban me from either. Which is how it should be.

Only if you believe you have no moral compulsion to prevent what you regard as evil. Maybe that works out OK for you.

Saucery · 22/09/2019 19:21

There are a large number of men holding placards on the demos I see in our town from time to time. Usually over the age of 60, waving the most horrendous pictures about, not caring who sees them - small children for instance. So I think there is a huge amount of misogyny in some sectors of the movement.
I find a palm in front of their face and a curt “No womb, no opinion” makes them back off a treat.

RufusthebewiIderedreindeer · 22/09/2019 19:21

idont

i said something incredibly stupid and ive asked for it to be removed

It really wasn’t anything of interest...just me being a twat and not concentrating Grin

JacquesHammer · 22/09/2019 19:22

grow up

I mean you’re not even reading what people are writing. Either that or you’re not understanding the most basic of English. What would you like me to assume?

idontbelievethisnsmeistaken · 22/09/2019 19:24

but it is a problem when a woman doesn’t wish to be pregnant.

What i think is problematic is the idea that people who regard abortion as something fundamentally evil, should shut up about because sex is fun and "I" am entitled to to have it without a baby resulting from it and you have to pay for that. To deny me that means you hate women and are oppressing me.
