Ok... this has freaked me out and I'm pretty chilled

(NC as I’ve text about this to a few people who haven’t replied yet)

I woke up about twenty min ago, funny feeling and went to check locks downstairs for reassurance (all secure).

There is a note on the kitchen sideboard, lined notebook paper and light blue ball point in blocky neat handwriting. It says:

‘This is your house Kathleen. You live here. David has the front bedroom and your bedroom is at the back. This is your house Kathleen and you can look at the garden.’

Really tidy kitchen, in the middle of an empty side. I went to bed last. Obv I’m not called Kathleen or anything similar and I don’t recognise the handwriting or even the pen ink.

Maybe this will be easier to grasp or solve in the morning? But right now I’m a bit 😳 and unable to sleep...

Did you look at the garden?

Have you searched the house? Doors locked doesn't mean a lot if someones been in long enough to switch a light on find a pen and write a note

Notebook was found in the garden or drive by OP’s husband. He got up again having gone up to bed before the OP to get his charger and found it in his bag where he’d put it yesterday morning when leaving for work. It belongs to neighbours a few houses away and is indeed a note left for a person with memory problems. Quite sad . I hope they are ok and didn't have a fall or anything when they dropped it.

It will be something your kids are doing or your husband found or you dreamt the whole thing.

It could be a ghost (I believe in them) Years ago I lived in an old house with my partner which had some history. He went out for a meal with a friend so I went to bed - I was half asleep when I felt him sit on the bed. I told to don't just sit there get in bed so he did. He then pressed himself against me so I told him to get off I wasn't in the mood. I moved over and turned on the bedside light - there was no one there. I then freaked out got up checked up the locks and windows and turned all the lights on until he got back

My guess is that your husband or child found the note outside somewhere (perhaps while taking the bin out, or at the supermarket and stuffed into a pocket for later?) then put it on the side just before bed as they meant to show it you?

This is beyond the most surreal thread. I'm thinking it's something like someone said above, homework for your kids or the like butt actually some of people's other suggestions are sending more shivers than your OP! And as for Leahbelle, bless ... maybe find a thread where people can help you out, hope all works out for you

Whoever left the note for OP has just turned up at my house. About twenty minutes ago I heard a loud bang and felt the vibrations as something heavy was clearly overturned in the room beneath me. I’m lying here fully awake listening for tell tale signs of movement, while idling away a few minutes on MN. This is the first thread I come to!!

Off to investigate now.

Hope you managed to get some sleep OP and your son is doing better. That note would have creeped me out especially when someone upthread said I think you will find you are Kathleen!!!
