Ok... this has freaked me out and I'm pretty chilled

(NC as I’ve text about this to a few people who haven’t replied yet)

I woke up about twenty min ago, funny feeling and went to check locks downstairs for reassurance (all secure).

There is a note on the kitchen sideboard, lined notebook paper and light blue ball point in blocky neat handwriting. It says:

‘This is your house Kathleen. You live here. David has the front bedroom and your bedroom is at the back. This is your house Kathleen and you can look at the garden.’

Really tidy kitchen, in the middle of an empty side. I went to bed last. Obv I’m not called Kathleen or anything similar and I don’t recognise the handwriting or even the pen ink.

Maybe this will be easier to grasp or solve in the morning? But right now I’m a bit 😳 and unable to sleep...

Can anyone upload the photo please?

Clovko · 29/08/2019 09:36

I can always see pictures, but I notice a chunk of mumsnet have an issue with them.

I’ve been distracted with electrical worry,

Kids are too young to write like that.

Hilarious note.

The joker-writer has tried to make their handwriting mysterious and shaky.

NoSauce · 29/08/2019 09:37

Did you go to bed first?

Ooo wait I can see it on the app!

That is definitely a child's writing, I would say a child of about 9

Has your DC been reading any books lately? Or watched any films/tv about dementia?

areyoutheredenise · 29/08/2019 09:38

Have you asked the kids if they have seen the note before or put it there?

areyoutheredenise · 29/08/2019 09:38

I'd say it's an older persons writing

wildflowersandweeds · 29/08/2019 09:38

I think Kathleen has written the note for herself at some point. It's ended up in a library book or something and been smuggled into your house.

colourlessgreenidea · 29/08/2019 09:38

Could someone who can see the photo c&p it for those who can’t see it?

NoDontLookAtMeImShy · 29/08/2019 09:39

Blimey! If anything then you at least found an electrical problem that needed sorting.

I'm keeping that nugget of information in my mind in case I ever smell something like that.

I can't see the pic. Can someone else post it in case it shows up for those of us who can't see it?

HennyPennyHorror · 29/08/2019 09:39

Can someone save and re-upload the pics? PLEASE??? I wanna see them tooooo (whinge)

BlueCornsihPixie · 29/08/2019 09:39

I suppose could also be an adult pretending to be child/elderly

But it doesn't look like elderly writing as the pen has been presed into the page too much for someone with actual shaky hands

MyMelodie · 29/08/2019 09:40

I can see the picture, it actually looks like an older persons writing to me, and they have written it unjoined so it's easier for the recipient to read (possibly someone with dementia).

MyOtherProfile · 29/08/2019 09:43

I can't see the photo. Can someone who can see it repost it?

IdahoGreen · 29/08/2019 09:43

I can't see the picture, but like pps, I think the rational explanation is that the note which absolutely sounds like the kind of note that a carer might leave, or that someone suffering from dementia might write for themselves in a lucid moment fell out of a library book or a book from a charity shop, or came into the house in a shopping bag.

I know we've more than once ended up with someone else's shopping list, which had been left in a supermarket trolley, stuck to the bottom of one of our bags for life, and fell off on the kitchen floor when we got home. And I've had notes, letters, postcards and all kinds of things fall out of secondhand books.

Another possibility is that one of your children picked it up on the street and brought it in?

HelloCheeky · 29/08/2019 09:44

This has been written by somebody with their 'other hand' eg. A right handed person writing with their left hand.

SoupDragon · 29/08/2019 09:44

If you post a picture on the app it doesn't always show up on the main site.

Something else MNHQ can't be arsed to fix.

golddustwomen · 29/08/2019 09:45

My nan and granddad both write exactly like that. But I promise you they haven't been in your house !

TraceyHorrobin · 29/08/2019 09:46

I've screenshotted the pic of the note and reposted here:

Clovko · 29/08/2019 09:47

Ok, this is going to be 100s of posts of insults isn’t it. That go out of the way to make me feel shit. As I said, wish I hadn’t posted in my panic.

I really can’t give the emotional space to this of reading insults and why I’m a liar etc and people getting kicks off viaing to be the rudest. Even the same question over and over is a bit soul destroying.

I’ve already been through the faff of emailing pics between devices for this. You can’t PM me, I used a burner email to re sign up due to doxing on the feminist boards, and I forgot it and the password so can’t sign in off the app to read them. So it’s a waste of time.

I don’t know it yet - but it’s quite obvious there’s a rational reason for this, so I wouldn’t panic as in the light of day and fully awake this is obvious.

Post if you wish, but I’m hiding this now. It genuinely upsets me when people have a go en mass (school bullying hangover, I don’t know?) and I know even if I post an answer if I find one it will be followed by insults, ‘cool story bro’etc, so I’m not investing in trying.
