So grey is on the way out, so polish your crystal balls, what colour schemes do we have to look forward to walls, flooring and furniture wise.

Oh thank God it’s RIP to grey. I work in Essex, the entire county has been painted the colour of old porridge. It’s like working in an air mail envelope. The good people of Essex need colour. Or monochrome. Just no more grey.

Mitebiteatnite · 18/08/2019 19:41

Thank goodness for that, we are just about to redecorate and I wanted grey downstairs but was trying to avoid it because I hate being like all the identikit new builds on Instagram. Now I can happily paint everything grey and nobody will say 'oh did you see that on Instagram?' Grin

daisypond · 18/08/2019 19:42

Beigey colours are back as the new neutral.

Owlish · 18/08/2019 19:44

I did a search for 'cosy living room' on Pinterest today. It returned so many grey colour schemes, I thought my screen had gone monochrome. I find it to be very characterless in home decor, though I don't have to live with so, I couldn't care less. I prefer a more warm colour palette.

bananasandwicheseveryday · 18/08/2019 19:46

I don't understand why people feel they need to follow a decorating fashion. Why don't people just choose a colour scheme they like, regardless of whether anyone else has it?

Hedgehogblues · 18/08/2019 19:47

Whatever colour I like

Warpdrive · 18/08/2019 19:47

Patterns and wallpapers, at the moment jungle, ferns and florals are coming in. william morris is coming back.

FuzzyPuffling · 18/08/2019 19:50

Green. Green is making a big fat comeback.

envacances · 18/08/2019 19:50

No more Cornforth White?? (Sobs)

AnnaMagnani · 18/08/2019 19:52

We've just had a hatch put in.

Debated it for ages - there was an odd blocked up window which made it the obvious thing to do (weird house layout and changing room kitchen is in) - and when we finally decided to do it our builder told us that he's being asked to put loads back in that were blocked up after the 70s.

They are definitely having a moment.

Bellasblankexpression · 18/08/2019 19:53

Judging by all the press releases I’m getting (ex journo now freelance but still on the database) it’s sage green coming up

Gertie75 · 18/08/2019 19:56

Hopefully you're right, I don't care what colour people paint their walls because it can be painted over but the great uPVC window frames are awful, we recently moved house and discounted the ones with grey frames because of the expense and waste of ripping them out.

TheOnlySnot · 18/08/2019 19:57

Thank fuck for that! Grey is everywhere! It’s all over this street and it’s just so dull and annoying!

FurrySlipperBoots · 18/08/2019 20:01

I do find it weird that there are decorating trends.

pantaloonietunes · 18/08/2019 20:01

Dark duck egg

Northernsoullover · 18/08/2019 20:02

I live in a rented property so I have to live with what I'm given which of course is magnolia. However I actually like it. I think I must be the only person in the world who does. I do have a dark red sofa and lots of coloured cushions though. Its really cosy.

Woodlandwitch · 18/08/2019 20:02

It’s got o be peach. It deserves a resurgence

Rachelover40 · 18/08/2019 20:02

I never knew grey was in vogue. Strange choice! I had new kitchen 10-11 years ago and it's white. I suppose that's history :-).

MashedSpud · 18/08/2019 20:03

Rainbow 🌈

Woodlandwitch · 18/08/2019 20:04

Problem is grey as a neutral like other neutrals of off white will always be a neutral and not go out of fashion

Strong greys and blacks are a fashion trend but that all seems to be ramping up around here still

It’s the strong colours that are definitely having their time right now

Woodlandwitch · 18/08/2019 20:04

By strong I mean dark

Span1elsRock · 18/08/2019 20:08

I work in soft furnishings, and we've had lots of new books in over the last month - I'd say navy blue is the predominant colour. With accents in deep forest greens and plum colours.
