If you haven't had salt and chilli chips from the Chinese then you haven't lived.

TOTALLY AGREE!!!

Frouby · 16/08/2019 18:10

You got to have chips with a chinese, it's the law. I live in Yorkshire and all the chineses sell chips. And then you have the chippy which sells fish and chips, sausages etc but might also do kebabs or chicken or even burgers.

But when I lived in Liverpool 15 years ago, all the Chinese food shops were also chippys. So you could in theory order a large cod, a beef chow mein and mushy peas.

GreyGardens88 · 16/08/2019 18:11

lol at people trying to be snobby about a Chinese takeaway. Literally everything you can get at a Chinese takeaway is western and nothing like actual Chinese food. There is nothing wrong with having chips with it

spannerintheneck · 16/08/2019 18:11

Oo we have Chinese tonight also! Here's our order:
Chow mien
Special fried rice
Spicy beef
Chicken curry
Lemon chicken and probably chips for dipping!

Lauren83 · 16/08/2019 18:11

I also have chips with a chinese

Prawn toast
Seaweed
Salt and pepper chips
Singapore vermicelli
Carton of curry sauce
Can of fizzy vimto

cricketmum84 · 16/08/2019 18:11

@Itsonlytuesdayqwer I buy jars of salt and pepper seasoning from the Chinese supermarket. Amazing sprinkled over chips :)

SirJamesTalbot · 16/08/2019 18:14

Another Londoner here. Chips with Chinese, pretty usual. In fact our chip shop (western style) does Chinese food as well 😀.

chachaboom · 16/08/2019 18:16

'half and half' is the accompaniment of choice in South Wales. Half a portion of rice with half a portion of chips-best of both worlds.
Applies to Chinese food, Indian food, chili con carne and especially pub curry.

vampirethriller · 16/08/2019 18:17

Chinese here tooGrin
Sweet and sour chicken, prawn toast, Singapore fried rice, beef curry and salt and pepper chips (not all for me!)

rosegoldwatcher · 16/08/2019 18:17

Sweet and sour king prawn balls
Singapore fried rice
Chicken in yellow bean sauce
Prawn crackers.
No chips thanks.

Gobbolinocat · 16/08/2019 18:19

No chips with Chinese here in South East. Not near us anyway. Chippy totally separate.. I've never in my life had chips with Chinese.

Hairyheadphones · 16/08/2019 18:19

I just looked on just eat to see if my local takeaways sell salt and chilli chips - only one of the four I checked does (they all sell palin chips).

Hairyheadphones · 16/08/2019 18:19

Plain not palin!

DtPeabodysLoosePants · 16/08/2019 18:20

Half rice half chips is a thing here in the NW. I've never had it myself. I'm all about the noodles. My exH had chips with everything Hmm

0pheIiaBaIIs · 16/08/2019 18:22

I've lived all over the country, including London and the far north of Scotland, and chips with a Chinese goes on EVERYWHERE. My local takeaways all offer boiled/fried rice or chips with the main courses. Even better, salt and chilli chips with Singapore curry. Delish.

Now I'm craving deep fried tofu Singapore curry and chips 🤤

Whoseagooddoggiethen · 16/08/2019 18:22

Here in Ireland with ur main dish your choice if side is boiled rice or chips. You can also have a side of fried rice, noodles and some places do yung chow fried rice for an extra fee. Chips, rice and curry sauce (3in1) is an Irish staple when ordering from your local chinese! All over dublin and some surrounding counties you would order aportion of chicken balls too. Ab fab.

I just orderedtoo cos im lazy. Kids wanted pizza so i ordered hot and soup, spring rolls and pork yuk sung for myself. The red is breathing in anticipation :)

PivotPivotPivottt · 16/08/2019 18:22

Burgers from the chippy around here are amazing covered in batter 😍 same with the sausages. But then I live somewhere that batters mars bars Grin. I was in Blackpool recently and ordered sausage from the chippy but was just given links, is battered sausage a Scottish thing?

Whoseagooddoggiethen · 16/08/2019 18:23

Hot and sour soup that is!

nopixelsfound · 16/08/2019 18:24

Battered sausage is ubiquitous in Blackpool Pivot but you have to order it as "battered sausage".

No prizes for guessing where I live from that, and chips and Chinese is normal (and delicious!) here

Whoseagooddoggiethen · 16/08/2019 18:24

Battered burgers andvsausages also huge in Ireland. Vile but popular as are the mega vile spice burger Confused

Gingerkittykat · 16/08/2019 18:26

To take away or not?

I got a 15% off voucher from Just Eat but if I buy I'll feel guilty and fat.

If I don't buy I need to go to a supermarket and buy proper food.

I would either get a pizza meal deal (1/2 pizza and pakora and chips) or kofta kebab from kebab shop. Their veg pakora is so good I dream about it.

The only Chinese that delivers is greasy and expensive.

Favoured Chinese meal would be prawns with ginger and pineapple, sweet and sour chicken balls, rice, chips, prawn toast, wontons and seaweed. That's for a family and a meal deal but would need to drive 20 mins each way to collect.

IncyWincyGrownUp · 16/08/2019 18:28

Our Chinese takeaway sells chips, but I never order them. I prefer rice or noodles.

CupoTeap · 16/08/2019 18:30

Chinese chips are amazing

MonstranceClock · 16/08/2019 18:31

I wish I lived in an area where I could use just eat Sad
