Just seen a thread about awful names and thought it would be nice to celebrate difference!

What unusual names have you heard that you've liked?

I have

Diamond - 101 year old lady who was friend of my grandmother

Saturn - cutest little girl ever

Gaia - never heard it before

Primrose- Prim for short

My son is teaching a Swosticka...

I knew a Lovely and a Pretti - and they both were!
I wanted to call a girl Gypsy, but had a boy.

Lettice. Old English name. Would never dare use it as the kid would get bullied and called salad or whatever, but I really like it.

I also really love Daphne.

Aslan is gorgeous I love it. But the nearly 50 year old Aslan we know gets called Memet for short

I knew a girl named Darwin. It really suited her.

@1forAll74 Aldi is usually short for Adolphus in German.

I know a young girl called Cassiopeia but Peia for short. Love that.

Also love the name Saoirse. Sounds beautiful to me.

I know a little Apollo - he’s a lovely little lad and his mum is awesome.

There was a boy called Izzzy in DDs class (short for Isambard) who is also a lovely boy. Both names are beautiful and unusual and I wish i’d Thought of them!

Have you really met a Zizanie? What origin? It's a French word but very much doubt it got through the French name registrars.

Not unusual but my oncologist is called Jesus, and so I can truly say - Jesus saved me!

I was in University with a Thurza. She was very cool and beautiful

Happy to see my own name mentioned a few times on this thread...... I have only met one person with the same name as me in real life .

I met the loveliest man called Blessing. He was such a nice, mellow and friendly person and his name suited him perfectly.
