All the Lovedays I've come across have been Cornish. I think it's a beautiful name but would hate to see it popularised.

MagicKingdom17 · 12/08/2019 17:46

Zeb Soans (Zebedee) from R4.
My friend is Finnish and her sister is Hannele, I like that name.

Olaf
Ieva (yeyva)
Tuppence
Bluebell
Ellis (for a girl)
Caledonian
I love the English words names!

whattodo2019

Is this a list of names you know people are Christened because I am surprised the Registry office allowed someone to call their child God's Gift.

I like new and different names. You can find other countries have some really unusual and lovely names like Sakura and Toya which are Japanese and made it to us via cartoons. It would be nice to hear that they've been used in the UK.

I knew a girl called Praise, which I think is really pretty.

My son was at school with a sundance and his sister Cheyenne.

ALemonyPea · 12/08/2019 21:34

When I was in hospital having DS2, the lady in the bed next to me had a dad called Roseanne. I thought it was quite nice.

I lived in SA for a while, some lovely names from the black SA culture of giving their children English words for names.

BikeRunSki · 12/08/2019 21:43

Alice Cooper (the 80s90s rockstar) has a daughter called Calico.

Veronicat · 12/08/2019 21:50

We have Tannith, Tamar and Joxter in our family.
I absolutely love Loveday and St.John.

tryingtobebetterallthetime · 12/08/2019 21:56

How. About Mehetable, Hattie or Hettie for short. It is a biblical name. One of my long ago pilgrim ancestors had that name. Means something like God will make great.

A bit out there and you need to be comfortable with a biblical name, but it has kind of grown on me.

I love virtue names! I’ve met a Patience (who was a midwife! Suited her perfectly) and a young girl called Blessing.

AndromedaPerseus · 12/08/2019 22:19

Real people I know with the following names:
Nirvana
Charisma
Io
Merlin
Denim
Jojo

shoulderstoesandknees · 12/08/2019 22:25

When I was about 7 I thought I'd call my little boy ( if I ever had one) Merlin. I thought it was really cool.

I've met a Sorrel, which is a nice girls name.

Corralie - which is pretty unusual.

A male Clemency, he was about 20.

Someone at DS' football mini's was called Atticus. I don't realise it is from a show.

What's interesting is you meet one child with an unusual name and think oh and then it's literally everywhere. And turns out to be not so unusual. Cue me meeting a few Heidi's and Quinn's after thinking wow different.

shoulderstoesandknees · 12/08/2019 22:29

Loveday makes me think of Lovejoy. Showing my ageBlush but I really enjoyed that tv programme when I was a kid. Maybe it was on sundays, when we had crumpets in front of the TV for tea, as we had a big Sunday lunch instead of a big evening dinner. I digress. But I won't be using Lovejoy DS 2 Grin

MadameJosephine · 12/08/2019 22:31

I met a toddler named Ephraim the other day which I loved.

I’ve also met babies called Serendipity, Havana, Awesome, Raven and Ocean

JuneSpoon · 12/08/2019 22:37

Kel

Cathal mentioned upthread is a common enough Irish name

JuneSpoon · 12/08/2019 22:41

And either Iggy or Ziggy - I can't quite remember but I thought it was cool

Calisto. He had a brother with an unusual name too but I can't remember it!

Hadenoughofitall441 · 12/08/2019 22:46

There’s a boy called Taige in DS class.

NameChange84 · 12/08/2019 22:47

I appreciate that @JuneSpoon but I’m not in Ireland or a place with a lot of Irish immigrants so none of us locally had heard of the name Cathal before.
