Is it ok to wear (fancy) trainers to a wedding?

We are going to a friends wedding, it is on a fancy golf course type venue.

I have 2 children I will need to supervise, cannot last in heels for longer than 30 minutes... health problems, mainly physical mean I have extensive pain when active for long periods of time.

I have a lovely 1950's dress I am wearing, I've found some lovely blue d.c / converse style shoes which would suit the dress but worry how I look

Is it too informal?

If you have health problems which make other shoes difficult then it's ok, if not I'd go with nice velvet slippers or sandals

AquaPris · 29/07/2019 20:01

I would worry myself though

Heratnumber7 · 29/07/2019 20:03

Can you wear flat shoes. I think trainers are inappropriate.

Sorry I wouldn’t wear trainers to a wedding. You can get nice flats to go with your dress.

daisypond · 29/07/2019 20:05

I wouldn’t. I can’t wear heels either but you can get lots of nice flat shoes.

howwudufeel · 29/07/2019 20:06

No way.

NoSauce · 29/07/2019 20:06

Can you post a pic?

Atlasta · 29/07/2019 20:06

I'd go for slipper flats

Soola · 29/07/2019 20:09

No.

MrsTerryPratchett · 29/07/2019 20:10

There a long way between trainers and heels!

NoSauce · 29/07/2019 20:14

Those Boden ones look like this they’d be really uncomfortable 😣

MrsMop7 · 29/07/2019 20:16

It's not heels or trainers surely?

You could just wear flat shoes.

AuntieAvocado · 29/07/2019 20:17

I wouldn’t, and I wear trainers pretty much every day. It’s just not appropriate for a wedding, looks like you don’t care.

NerrSnerr · 29/07/2019 20:19

Strangers can't answer this. Ask the bride and/ or groom. I wouldn't have thought twice about guests wearing trainers to my wedding (I had trainers on under my dress). The vast majority of my friends wouldn't have minded either.

DewDropsonKittens · 29/07/2019 20:19

I need support and flats kill my feet.

Agree with PP, you don’t need to wear heels but trainers are way too casual. Get some ballet pumps or something in that style.

Heismyopendoor · 29/07/2019 20:20

You can get ‘flats’ that support your feet though.

DewDropsonKittens · 29/07/2019 20:21

Those boden shoes look really painful and rigid

I thought with it being quite fashionable to wear converse with everything these days they would look nice with a pretty dress

They are pale blue so not striking white

Gruntvsgunt · 29/07/2019 20:21

Yep fine go for it. As long as you are comfy

DewDropsonKittens · 29/07/2019 20:22

@Heismyopendoor do you have any suggestions?

Next thread I guess would be... where can I get super comfortable wedding approved flats

OP posts:
sparklefarts · 29/07/2019 20:22

Ask the bride about trainers and please don't wear those Boden shoes!

thewreckofthehesperus · 29/07/2019 20:23

A decent pair of Clark's flats would give much better support than converse. M&S insolia range or debenhams range good for the sole could also be worth a look.

I would worry wearing trainers especially to a posh venue.

NerrSnerr · 29/07/2019 20:23

To the people who say trainers are too casual, would you really mind if a guest, who you know has health problems (I'm assuming the bride and groom know if they know them well enough to invite them) wore nice trainers?

BishopBrennansArse · 29/07/2019 20:24

Pair of Birkenstocks?
