Best perk of your job

What's the best perk you've ever had in your job?

Today I got a ride in a super rare supercar (I won't say the make and model as it would be very outing).

Previous perks have seen me try on a very ugly £20,000 diamond ring and also received a hamper full of heather honey once.

Ridiculously high salary at a young age and unlimited fresh cookies (City law).

Current role... a commute of 10 steps or less.

Tadpoletofrog · 27/07/2019 19:23

Free zone 1-6 London travel card. Was to cover travel to the office and around London for site visits, but I could also use it for my own travel outside of work. I didn’t pay for public transport around London for about 10 years, must have saved hundreds, if not thousands of pounds over the years.

When I was younger I had jobs with wonderful perks ...fridges of most in the basement we could help ourselves too etc. The perk at my current job is extra holiday for institutional closure between Xmas and new year...I love it ! We get 75% off off peak train travel , free local leisure train travel, discounted Eurostar with DH job

OrangeCinnamon · 27/07/2019 19:28

*moet not most ffs

vienettaexpert · 27/07/2019 19:39

Nc for this as its super outing. Free hotel stays, free restaurant meals (I struggle to book them all in my diary), free beauty treatments, free theatre and festival tickets, free beauty products, got a huge cook book from a top hotel recently, get to meet celebs and really interesting people, got a huge bottle of gin a few weeks ago. Love my job Grin

hidinginthenightgarden · 27/07/2019 19:40

No one notices if I disappear for an afternoon 😳

Dowser · 27/07/2019 19:40

My grandson can eat as much left over buffet food as he likes and even can alcoholic and non alcoholic drinks
He works at a wedding and party venue
Part time while waiting to go into 6 form

Dowser · 27/07/2019 19:42

Wow viennetta lovely perk

My cousins husband works on railway
He gets free travel and she gets 75 per cent off

baubled · 27/07/2019 19:42

A free lunch every now and again but I'm now googling jobs which have perks like @vienettaexpert

SpuriouserAndSpuriouser · 27/07/2019 19:43

I work in the NHS soooo....

Erm. I get a discount at the hospital cafe, and sometimes people say thank you, that’s quite nice. And occasionally I get a whole weekend off!!

Longdistance · 27/07/2019 19:45

I work in s prep school. I get lunch and copious amounts of tea. We are also given afternoon tea.
I also get all the school holidays, but that’s the contract.

VictoriaBun · 27/07/2019 19:46

Not me but my friend was an air hostess for Mohamed Al Fayed ( when he owned Harrods) she got lots of perks won't answer any questions

vienettaexpert · 27/07/2019 19:48

I'm a freelance travel journalist (don't worry, not the kind that trawls Mumsnet!) So work for lots of different titles and corporate clients. It's an amazing job and I love it, but it's hard to juggle sometimes! There's a lot of additional work that happens and scrabbling from pay cheque to pay cheque and chasing invoices can be a mare, but I get to have a very interesting life. My husband hates it. He's a total homebody and I drag him everywhere.

small2018 · 27/07/2019 19:49

@EssentialHummus - law firm cookies are the best aren't they?! I used to work at CC 😊

YahBasic · 27/07/2019 19:49

Free private medical cover, which is unlimited/no restrictions & covers pre-existing conditions.

Real flexible working & ability to wfh minimum of twice a week.

ChickenPieBumFace · 27/07/2019 19:50

My old job had a box at the MEN arena. We could get free tickets to concerts with VIP access so free food and drink for amazing concerts. Took the kids to see Disney on ice and walking with dinosaurs as well as seeing many great acts like Pink, neyo, Madonna etc. Current role is very generous with team building activities so lots of paid for nights out as well as travel and lovely hotels.

daisypond · 27/07/2019 19:51

Free coffee and tea, but crap pension. I’m looking at retraining to go into the public sector.

madeyemoodysmum · 27/07/2019 20:05

Free tix to Harry Potter studio tour twice a year

OrangeCinnamon · 27/07/2019 20:05

See @vienettaexpert I was hoping your name was a clue to your job !

MarieBaroneIsMyMom · 27/07/2019 20:07

The massive salary Grin

DramaAlpaca · 27/07/2019 20:08

Free tea & coffee. That's it, unless you count my five minute commute - which after years of travelling for hours by train & tube every day is absolute bliss.

Stompythedinosaur · 27/07/2019 20:10

NHS so not much, but I get quite a lot of flexibility around my dc, and I get some decent training and related accommodation costs paid for.

AndNoneForGretchenWieners · 27/07/2019 20:13

I worked for a charity where any gifts we were given by suppliers were raffled twice a year at head office where I worked (free tickets). I won a weekend away in a posh country spa place, and tickets to Disney on ice. In the same job we used to hold events for our residents each season, and one was a garden party at Althorp. I was on the planning committee and got to meet Earl Spencer and his then wife.

I work in the civil service now, only perk is a day off for the Queen's birthday.

Michellebops · 27/07/2019 20:17

Free private healthcare, just had an op at Nuffield and it was like a hotel stay.

Flurgle · 27/07/2019 20:21

Um. Short commute, free carpark.
Tea and coffee if you want it (I don’t).
Free green pens 😂
