Best perk of your job

What's the best perk you've ever had in your job?

Today I got a ride in a super rare supercar (I won't say the make and model as it would be very outing).

Previous perks have seen me try on a very ugly £20,000 diamond ring and also received a hamper full of heather honey once.

5 day training course in a lovely European city, all expenses paid. Lots of holiday. A short working week as standard.
Awesome colleagues Smile

Benes · 27/07/2019 20:55

Oh and loads of annual leave ....with bank hols and Christmas it amounts to 48 days

BrokenWing · 27/07/2019 20:55

Compressed hours with WFH on a Friday 7am-12am. Prefer you to be in the office most of the time but can WFH other days if required and trusted to pop out for appointments, other commitments etc as long as you don't take the piss/make up time.

£250 annual product allowance in staff shop.

Grass is always greener though and would swap both for more job security a final salary pension in a heartbeat!

flowerycurtain · 27/07/2019 20:57

Farmer.

Free eggs and milk.

And the most amazing view!!

QuestionableMouse · 27/07/2019 20:58

I get free private health care, a reasonable life assurance policy of 8k, loads of discounts for various shops, a free meal on shift and free parking while at work.

SteadyAreYouReady · 27/07/2019 21:00

Jupiter13 · 27/07/2019 21:02

Free coffee once a once.

The boring stuff like flexible working, decent salary etc.
Fun stuff is lots of travel to great destinations and being able to experience them not just be in meetings. Lots of high profile social events in the industry, overseas meetings, travel perks, being part of big events.

It’s a great job but I’m getting a bit tired with it being so full on as I get older so looking to take a step back soon.

YoureAllABunchOfBastards · 27/07/2019 21:09

We get a KitKat and a bottle of water for Parents' Evening

DownstairsMixUp · 27/07/2019 21:11

I drive a lot and get 45p a mile expenses which is more than enough for my car. Great pension. Can work from home.

TheLightSideOfTheMoon · 27/07/2019 21:11

The young man I look after.

He's an absolute joy. My heart soars each day when I see him.

I love him. I shouldn't, but I do.

mateysmum · 27/07/2019 21:12

I used to work for a major high st health & beauty retailer and I hardly bought or paid full price for cosmetics or toiletries in that time. Loads of free samples and very generous staff discount.

With DH's work I have gone on work jollies to several European / S Africa / India etc - all 5* and lived abroad on a generous expat package.

FreddiesMammy · 27/07/2019 21:13

I get the holidays off and my hours fit in around DS’s nursery

Iggity · 27/07/2019 21:15

Do those people with “free healthcare” not have to pay the tax?
My company pays the monthly charge but I have to pay the tax on this and also 15% of any medical treatment up to around £300 max a year.
I consider the best perk of my job not to be financial but the ability to come and go pretty much as I please. For example my DC has been at a holiday club this week from 9-3. I drop them off and then leave work to collect them. I obviously continue to work when I get home. Also ability to attend all school events and just general flexibility. This is for a well paid role so the financial benefits are considerable too but flexibility outweighs money much more. This counts for a lot as my DH has much less flexibility in his job.
In my last job, we had free fruit and biscuits but the biscuits were pretty rubbish and the bourbons went quickly.

lljkk · 27/07/2019 21:16

Old job: foreign travel.

Current job: autocomplete on emails. Don't knock it until you don't got it.

The maternity leave. Six months on full pay and you don't even have to pay it back if you decide not to return after you have the baby.

MarthasGinYard · 27/07/2019 21:20

Never stuck in traffic Smile

thestarvingcaterpillar · 27/07/2019 21:20

moanyhole · 27/07/2019 21:29

5 minute commute. After years of a 3 hour round commute i dont know myself. Also the odd day that childcare falls through my boss, who jas become a really good friend just gives me the day off.

Bumper1969 · 27/07/2019 21:32

BathshebaKnickerStickers · 27/07/2019 21:35

dementedma · 27/07/2019 21:36

Travel round the Highlands and Islands of Scotland
Access to events such as the Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo, Gun Salutes and Royal Navy ship visits.
Stand down between Christmas and New Year (on top of normal annual leave)

IncrediblySadToo · 27/07/2019 21:41

@vienettaexpert

Divorce your DH & marry me. I’d come willingly and even carry your bag!

I’m female but 🤷🏻‍♀️ 🤣

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 27/07/2019 21:43

NHS -
yes there are some offers available in shops
it is fairly stable jobwise
Pension is one of the reasons most NHS staff stay

Uniform (well, I say Uniform, we have to buy the trousers and shoes but we get a white tunic) so I don't have to think about what I'm wearing (and I think I look quite nice and approachable in mine Grin )
