Best perk of your job

What's the best perk you've ever had in your job?

Today I got a ride in a super rare supercar (I won't say the make and model as it would be very outing).

Previous perks have seen me try on a very ugly £20,000 diamond ring and also received a hamper full of heather honey once.

Currently, the only real perk is the fact that the kids can get so happily involved. I work in football & they are big fans. This means working matchdays at weekends, but they are there in the stadium enjoying themselves whilst I work. They also enjoy the player access they have & being involved in junior media duties. I may engineer the last part a bit, because I can!

I'm an NHS nurse, and I apologise for the naffness of this response. But the biggest perk is definitely working with the best, most fabulous, brilliant group of people anyone could work with.
You're all amazing and I love working with you!
We get given loads of nice treats too.Smile

TemporaryPermanent · 27/07/2019 20:25

Working part time and still getting to do interesting stuff. A discount at my hairdressers. I'm just applying to do some research as part of my job, can't wait.

Suctioning phlegm Blush I'm a sporner, I LOVE it.

Wincarnis · 27/07/2019 20:27

I once had a summer job in a toilet roll factory. We got two free toilet rolls every Friday. Grin

Starlive23 · 27/07/2019 20:29

My boss buys us Donuts on a Friday!

DariaMorgendorffer · 27/07/2019 20:29

The holidays are a huge perk (teacher)

Starlive23 · 27/07/2019 20:30

@wimcarnis 😂

Starlive23 · 27/07/2019 20:31

@wincarnis 😂 that's really really made me laugh

Bumbags · 27/07/2019 20:31

I get to nap.

Aroundtheworldin80moves · 27/07/2019 20:32

Living for two years on a Mediterranean island (I'm just the spouse... DH gets a lot more perks!)

In my volunteer role I get to have fun with children. And we get invited to a reception once a year with free food and drinks).

NHS. I guess the pension isn't bad, and we get staff discount in Boots and a few other places. Otherwise, it's mostly the knowledge that our unpaid overtime in a building that isn't fit for purpose is probably helping people.

BikeRunSki · 27/07/2019 20:36

Paid sickleave for 6 months, and full support and no aggro during 2 hyperemisis pregnancies.

Nice new car every 4 years.

Alb1 · 27/07/2019 20:36

Had a summer job in an ice cream van on a beach - all the free ice cream you can eat.

Free national trust membership and discount.

YesQueen · 27/07/2019 20:37

Got to take a brand new Range Rover home for a few days Smile

Kiwiinkits · 27/07/2019 20:39

Part time, flexible work and generous holidays. And the remuneration to make it better paid than a full time position for the types of jobs my peers do. More pay for less, what’s not to like?

AnneElliott · 27/07/2019 20:41

I'm a civil servant so it's the pension, flexi time and dress down Fridays.

Doyouthinktheysaurus · 27/07/2019 20:44

I'm NHS! Occasionally patients or relatives bring us chocolates.

I get a discount at various places.

NHS is not great for perks, it has to be said. Breaks are an occasional luxury despite the fact they are unpaid.

elQuintoConyo · 27/07/2019 20:47

Paid holidays, including 18 days at Christmas, all August and all September. Work hours are shite, but I'm a 20 minute walk to work and live in a flat with seaview.

Used to work for Eurotunnel, could cross to France with the car for an entire £1, overnight in Disneyland Paris for £14. We'd go to Boulogne for dinner, Bruges to see the Christmas market every year. Cushty.

ReginaGeorgeous · 27/07/2019 20:50

Free private healthcare.
Staff current account and mortgage rate.

RedLipsAndRosyCheeks · 27/07/2019 20:51

Free tea and coffee and free school holiday childcare for DC's

Todaythiscouldbe · 27/07/2019 20:51

Free tea & coffee, cakes at least once a week and lots of gifts from suppliers.
By far the best perk is the total flexibility, wake up and don't feel like work....don't go in 😁

Yutes · 27/07/2019 20:52

Not doing nightshift

Youngandfree · 27/07/2019 20:53

Teacher here, free tea and coffee 🤣oh and the first Friday of every month we have cakes in the staff room to celebrate the birthdays of the month, and I can do my kids drop off and collect them at half 3. That’s about it

Benes · 27/07/2019 20:54

Flexibility and ability to work from home when I feel like it

cricketmum84 · 27/07/2019 20:54

Super outing but I got something for free that other people pay £100ish per month for.

I've changed jobs now and get a free gym membership (that I haven't actually used yet since I started in April....)
