Best perk of your job

What's the best perk you've ever had in your job?

Today I got a ride in a super rare supercar (I won't say the make and model as it would be very outing).

Previous perks have seen me try on a very ugly £20,000 diamond ring and also received a hamper full of heather honey once.

Working from home
Excellent benefits package

Thequaffle · 28/07/2019 18:55

@vienettaexpert are you hiring per chance? Grin

WalkAwaySugarbear · 28/07/2019 19:03

Free healthcare, parking and short commute 15 mins. Paid for professional qualification worth £22k if I'd have to pay for it myself. Free drinks and flexible to nip out for school assembly's. We rarely work a full week to end time, often sent home 1-2hrs early.

MadameJosephine · 28/07/2019 19:07

NHS discount at lots of places

Oh and gorgeous snuggly newborns 👶

RunningNinja79 · 28/07/2019 19:12

ATM 3PM finish (but I do start at 7), up to 34 annual leave days a year, plus flexi time. Very good work/life balance for me.

Previous jobs - Free films (worked PT in a cinema during A levels and Uni), free train travel (living in the north a commute to London was a common occurrence. Not been for years now and really miss it.). Free Ice Cream (worked in the factory and there was often boxes to take home at the end of the shift)

smallerstepsbiggerchange · 28/07/2019 19:28

Madam what's your job? Midwife or neonatal team?

3boysandabump · 28/07/2019 21:17

Company car and all the stationary I can steal 😂

Maneandfeathers · 28/07/2019 21:40

Being able to take my dog.

The rest is rubbish!

BlueSkiesLies · 28/07/2019 21:43

@daisypond oooh my friend worked at a company where they had an all expenses paid European cruise for staff and partners last year - was like a week long! Must have cost the company some serious £££

I hadn’t considered things like free (crappy machine) tea and coffee as ‘perks’ but I suppose I should do.

We get healthcare but have to pay the substantial tax charge so it ends up costing me quite a few hundred anyway.

Car allowance but I take it as cash.

We can buy extra holiday.

My role has involved lots of travel which has been pretty fun usually as my team is great. Stayed in some nice hotels in interesting cities and eaten well and had some time for exploring sometimes.

BlueSkiesLies · 28/07/2019 21:44

Oh yeah and we have a subsidised lunch

Pinkarsedfly · 28/07/2019 21:47

I’ve made friends with a sheep and get to cuddle a hedgehog from time to time.

AreWeAnywhereNear · 28/07/2019 21:48

Big bosses earn on average £25k a month, I am not a big boss!

We get free tea, coffee although I only drink water and get to pay for our parking. However the pension is good as is the holidays - I'm intending to get qualified (financial services) then I'm outta there. My plan is to help people as opposed to lining the pockets of my already wealthy bosses, who are so out of touch with reality it's laughable.

Somethingselfdeprecating · 29/07/2019 07:51

Oh I forgot about the amazing bean to cup coffee machine...Brew

Otterses · 29/07/2019 07:58

I used to get obscene amounts of free chocolate. It all began when I accepted the job and came home to a hamper.

Those were the days Grin

I would say the only perk of my job is free coffee. Though I may lose this privilege, as the other department I work with technically aren't allowed free coffee, and I'm such a bloody rebel I just make it for everyone.

FaerieKiss · 29/07/2019 09:36

Free fancy teas and coffees, including stuff like hot chocolate. Flexible hours. Easy going, supportive manager. Enjoyable team building days. Slap up Christmas lunch somewhere lovely, no expense spared, free alcohol and free taxis home.

MamaLazarou · 29/07/2019 09:47

Volunteering leave, free fruit, free medical insurance, flexible working as standard and the sweetest boss in the whole world.

Stpancras · 30/07/2019 08:49

Working flexibly from home 10000%

lurkingfromhome · 30/07/2019 09:02

Work from home, self-employed:

No commute
Flexible hours
Can take the odd hour off to do chores, sit in the sun, or meet friend for quick coffee and it's easy to make the time up later
Can sit at my desk in my PJs and no make up with a cat on my lap
No annoying things like annual appraisals, team-building days, pointless meetings etc

Loyaultemelie · 30/07/2019 10:47

All the veg and eggs we can eat. (veg farmers) A place to raise dcs away from the hustle and bustle where they can have similar freedom that I had in the late 80s early 90s. A collection of cats.

Not sure if it makes up for the fact ends will never meet and we are paid less than fil was 30 years ago Confused

JustMe9 · 30/07/2019 11:38

People who work from home (or self employed) what do you do? :) Id love to work from home all the time...

puppymouse · 30/07/2019 11:46

Ride in a helicopter over Lisbon, a few stays in very posh hotels and free alcohol in meetings. Went to Toronto and managed to grab an extra day to see Niagara Falls.

That was a long time ago though. These days working four days, with two of those from home is my highlight.

CoolcoolcoolcoolcoolNoDoubt · 30/07/2019 12:43

Previous perks have seen me try on a very ugly £20,000 diamond ring

You don't need to work to do this, just befriend someone who works in a jewellery store like I have (because I am a magpie in disguise haha)

Bluesheep8 · 30/07/2019 12:53

Free car park and flexi hours, a great team of colleaguez

TheresWaldo · 30/07/2019 15:09

About 40 days paid holiday. Life and travel insurance, Non-contributory pension. Free public transport pass. Free train tickets. Free tea and coffee. Luncheon vouchers. Subsidized holiday clubs for kids. Monthly payment for expenses, such as dry cleaning/coffees with suppliers etc Flextime and 2 days a week home-working. Basically come and go as I please. Annual family days out/Xmas party. Chocs for Easter. Champagne for NY. Free ice creams this week. Loads and loads really. I love it. Bloody hard work mind.
