Best perk of your job

What's the best perk you've ever had in your job?

Today I got a ride in a super rare supercar (I won't say the make and model as it would be very outing).

Previous perks have seen me try on a very ugly £20,000 diamond ring and also received a hamper full of heather honey once.

As a young (& well
Paid) accountant we had cheese & crackers every morning tea & biscuits every afternoon tea - never needed to buy lunch and I was very slim in those days too.

A few years ago a brand new 4WD in the week and soft top sports car at the weekend

Then worked from home for myself - no commute, annoying clients could be dropped, all the goid stuff none of the political shite of corporate offices.

When I was cabin crew, trips away in lovely hotels!

ravenia · 27/07/2019 21:48

Free postgrad tuition, got 2 Masters degrees out of it

Benjispruce · 27/07/2019 21:49

Used to work for a building society when we were buying our first home(24 yrs ago) when interest rates were 15%. We got the majority on 4% and 3 free homebuyer surveys.

Benjispruce · 27/07/2019 21:49

Oh and a 100% mortgage

YahBasic · 27/07/2019 21:52

Forgot about maternity - 12 weeks full pay, 24 weeks half.

Re healthcare Iggity, everything is covered by the company & is charged to the company. I can see a physio etc in 6 hours if I need to.

It’s a good company to work for, and the salary is good, but the perks definitely help.

EspressoX10 · 27/07/2019 21:56

Not sure this counts as a perk, but I get to see lots of new streamed/cinema content before it airs and get involved in awards season (g.globes/Oscars).

My commute is a few steps downstairs most days. That's my fave.

Chocolatecake12 · 27/07/2019 21:56

I work for the nhs and this week we got a free ice lolly

MrsFezziwig · 27/07/2019 21:59

A sense of pride that I do something which can help make a real difference to people’s lives (branch of healthcare).
Knowing lots of doctors so that if I did have health problems they would go the extra mile to help me out.
Final salary pension.

Trying81 · 27/07/2019 22:00

Cost price clothes, and regular sample sales where clothes are £1 an item

6 months full sick pay per year

loopylindasdaughter · 27/07/2019 22:00

Free Botox and skincare, fillers if I wanted them but don't. Probably reason I still work there!!

polkadotpixie · 27/07/2019 22:07

@Chocolatecake12 We got a free ice lolly this week too! I wonder if we work for the same trust?

polkadotpixie · 27/07/2019 22:08

I work for the NHS so not many!

It's a stable job
The hours are flexible within reason

Cotswoldmama · 27/07/2019 22:12

Being able to but company shares through a share and save scheme at a 20% discount. The shares have continually risen.

Eaudear · 27/07/2019 22:13

I work in education so the only real 'perk' is the holidays, but it is a huge one, especially that I have kids now.

No cars, health insurance, first class trips abroad, decent Christmas parties, bonuses, working from home opportunities....

But the holidays (and the kids I guess Grin) keep me here. Pension is good too.

StylishMummy · 27/07/2019 22:14

Flexible working
40 days holiday
Private healthcare inc pre existing conditions
16% free pension contributions (we can add to this from salary if we choose)
6 months full pay and 6 months half pay for maternity

Tough job and tough targets but worth it, brilliant place to work & awesome colleagues

EskiVodkaCranberry · 27/07/2019 22:16

Flexible hours to a certain extent. DH gets healthcare and an Apple Watch which is free as long as he keeps fit, he gets Starbucks free and goes to a lot of networking events which he loves.

stanski · 27/07/2019 22:30
  • get to take my dog into the office (saving a fortune on doggy daycare)
  • work from home as and when needed (usually two days a week) around childcare
  • get to use the company services for free if needed (too outing but saved me about £2000 recently)
  • Tesla 3 company car 🚘 (I've opted out for the time being)
stucknoue · 27/07/2019 22:48

If I die in service I get a free funeral, yippee (though my DD's I suppose benefit) if I remarry I would get a free church wedding I suppose too but that's not likely

Conkeee · 27/07/2019 22:59

75% off and flexible working

Conkeee · 27/07/2019 23:00

Oh and death in service which is amazing for minimum wage job I think. Never had it.

Yestermo · 27/07/2019 23:01

My boss is wonderful and let's me do whatever I want (perks of being self-employed).

tinytemper66 · 27/07/2019 23:01

13 weeks holiday every year!

WhoKnewBeefStew · 27/07/2019 23:02

Work at home and can disappear for a nap Grin

Egghead68 · 27/07/2019 23:03

An en-suite loo in my office!
