Is it ok to have unpainted toenails?

Just that really, I'm wearing sandals today and feel a bit weird/ unattractive.

Normally have my toenails painted in the summer but didn't have time/ couldn't be bothered so far this year. Wondering if it's ok or really minging/ unattractive?

I'm not trying to attract anyone ;) Feet and nails are clean etc...

Also never wear nail polish on hands but seems different. Maybe because I don't like feet!

Some of these replies are way more gross and unattractive than someone choosing not to paint their toenails.

Imagine being such a judgemental twat you've made your colleagues do something to do body they didn't do before because you've took it upon yourself to tell them you personally don't like how their choices make them look.

I thought women where allowed to choose what they do with their own body these days or is it still only men who can choose shirts and sandals and not shave legs and paint their toenails without worrying about being called ugly, gross and unattractive.

Fuma · 25/07/2019 16:36

Also agree that men don't get this crap and haven't even got the "clean and serviceable" memo judging by some of the horror trotters I've seen in the heatwave.

Is anyone else getting adverts for 'Sensationails' btw?

Sparklingbrook · 25/07/2019 16:39

I wouldn't wear sandals or shoes without toes to work.

If DH started shaving his legs and painting his toenails I would be a bit Hmm TBH.

YY to 'horror trotters' Fuma. Grin

So basically, some people think that you're not 'groomed' if you don't paint your toenails?

What a load of utter shite.

I do paint mine, because I like it. Why would I care what another woman does with her tonails, that's just weird.

Happyspud · 25/07/2019 16:46

Honestly there is something wrong with you and the world if you genuinely need to ask the internet if it’s ok that you haven’t painted your toenails.

Allyg1185 · 25/07/2019 16:50

I always have my toenails painted even in winter when my feet are covered. Not allowed my fingernails done for work so thats the only reason I don't have them done

Knackeredmommy · 25/07/2019 16:53

I read somewhere that having nails painted all the time isn't good for the nails and have given my nails a breather. It was weird going naked at first but as long as they're neat and tidy it shouldn't matter.

Jaffacakebeast · 25/07/2019 16:54

Nope 😱😱 I dont recall ever seeing my toenails not painted, aside from when I’m changing varnish

ProfessionalBullshitter · 25/07/2019 16:54

I stopped painting my toes after I had a gel pedicure and got a bad fungal infection under one of my nails. Took the best part of a year to get it to fuck off. Now I’m scared to paint my toes in case it happens again.

User10fuckingmillion · 25/07/2019 17:02

I couldn’t believe this was actually a question someone was asking. But some of the replies Shock

Don’t give it a second though Op- painted nails are no better/worse then unpainted nails.

Troels · 25/07/2019 17:03

I've only done mine a handful of times, I cant be bothered. I don't really care for painted nails, (hands or feet)
I did have a walk on the beach and a bit of a paddle yesterday and my nails/feet look much better for it.

Lemoncurd · 25/07/2019 17:18

The only time I painted my toenails some kind of fungal infection developed under the polish.
Now I just assume that if people paint their toes it's to hide something!

CatInADoghouse · 25/07/2019 17:25

Aww I'm glad you started this thread OP! I remember some horrible women saying that unpainted toe nails "really grossed them out" and it made me paranoid ever since! I'm going to be going out with unpainted toenails from now on! I hate painting them, it makes my back ache and I really can't be bothered.

Oblomov19 · 25/07/2019 17:27

My nails and toes were always fine. Until I started going to the local nail bar for an occasional nail paint.

Now my finger nails are weak and split all the time.

And I've got a foot fungal infection that despite 3 GP visits has still taken almost a year to grow put!! If I posted a picture you'd vom!

Confused

WTF at this thread

Fuma · 25/07/2019 17:51

Well it's obviously not a redundant question given some of the attitudes it's thrown up, both actually on the thread and reported. I personally think it's quite heartening that the OP is getting so many encouraging responses, and women absolutely should talk about such things because we're all affected by societal attitudes towards our appearance - even if it's only silent judging - because these attitudes have an effect on how we are treated.

HerSymphonyAndSong · 25/07/2019 19:08

“I wouldn't wear sandals or shoes without toes to work.”

Completely acceptable to wear open-toed sandals (men too) in my workplace

Sparklingbrook · 25/07/2019 19:10

Depends where you work I suppose, but I prefer proper shoes for work.

HerSymphonyAndSong · 25/07/2019 19:11

Yes there is a great deal of variation in types of workplace and acceptable workwear

BoronationStreet · 25/07/2019 19:34

No.

Trufflegirl · 25/07/2019 19:38

I always run around in flip-flops, in Summer, and often don't have painted toes. I was even running around barefoot at a barbecue, at the weekend, without painted nails, so I wouldn't worry about it.

HernameisGio · 26/07/2019 02:23

I hate unpainted nails. I think feet look 100x better cut neatly with nail polish. I also think shaved legs and underarms are better than left to grow wild. However that seems to be unpopular here. Each to their own.

Shooturlocalmethdealer · 26/07/2019 02:24

We were born with unpainted toenails. You are ok dear!

DontTalkBloodyDaft · 26/07/2019 02:49

I've never painted my nails on either fingers or feet.
I wear sandals and flip flops.
If anyone has an issue with it they can lodge it in file 13.
@Newmobile I would have told you to fuck off.

Broken11Girl · 26/07/2019 02:54

As long as nails are clean, healthy and cut. Which yours are. No-one wants to see yellow talons. That goes for men too.
