Is it ok to have unpainted toenails?

Just that really, I'm wearing sandals today and feel a bit weird/ unattractive.

Normally have my toenails painted in the summer but didn't have time/ couldn't be bothered so far this year. Wondering if it's ok or really minging/ unattractive?

I'm not trying to attract anyone ;) Feet and nails are clean etc...

Also never wear nail polish on hands but seems different. Maybe because I don't like feet!

Of course it’s ok. Nicer to have unpainted toes than chipped manky varnish (which I am modelling and I can’t be arsed to fix)

I've never painted my toenails - would you automatically notice & think my feet were 'really minging / unattractive'? If not, you're probably OK.

DontPanic42 · 25/07/2019 12:59

Is this a thing?! Women can't get their feet out without painted nails?! Are we allowed to have unpainted fingernails? Why is being natural considered so unattractive for a female?
FYI I have no issue if people want to, I just didn't realise it was something we had to do

I only paint my toenails as they are a bit ridged and slightly yellow, I suspect very mild fungal nail, probably caused by wearing nail polish, a vicious circle. If I had nice nails I wouldn’t bother

happypotamus · 25/07/2019 13:02

I hope so because I have never painted my toenails in my life.
My feet look pretty horrible to be honest, but I am still going to wear sandals today, but it is about a billion degrees and my other shoes would look stupid with this dress. I don't pay any attention to other people's toenails when I am out, so I hope no one is going to be judging mine.

NiLunNiLautre · 25/07/2019 13:03

No it's not alright. It's completely unacceptable. You are a woman and thus should look good at all times. You serve no other purpose. Women with unpainted toenails are the scourge of society and should be ostracized.

FFS.

JustDanceAddict · 25/07/2019 13:03

Of course! I usually do but haven’t yet this summer. No-one has died yet!!

MillicentMartha · 25/07/2019 13:04

I thank god for nail varnish ever since I got a fungal nail infection on my little toe that no fucking treatment will get rid of.

Sparklingbrook · 25/07/2019 13:06

I always have nail varnish on my toes in the summer. I think they look better with it.

I don't like feet at the best of times, and I hate seeing feet when out and about and especially men's hobbit feet but obviously that's my problem to deal with. Grin

floribunda18 · 25/07/2019 13:07

I usually wear it in summer as I'm often growing out some kind of nail issue, where someone has stepped on my foot or something.

Lindormilk · 25/07/2019 13:08

No! I always have painted toenails!

gardenbats · 25/07/2019 13:09

Jesus is this really a thing? I make a reasonable amount of effort with my appearance (hair done regularly, lip fillers, wear makeup etc) but wouldn't think twice about going out with no nail polish on my toes Confused

KittyB52 · 25/07/2019 13:11

I used to love painting my toenails a variety of different colours. Nail varnish on my fingers always chipped within hours but on my toes it lasted for a good week or two.

Since I started seizing up with aches and pains (thank you, alleged fibromyalgia!), the effort of reaching my toes to do a decent job of a pedicure is

I did still stop and wonder if wearing sandals with ‘nude toes’ was OK yesterday. Pisses me off how ingrained this crap is, I’m 46 FFS!

megletthesecond · 25/07/2019 13:13

No. 10 years hard labour. Wink

silverystream · 25/07/2019 13:13

I stopped wearing varnish after one summer I painted my nails and they went yellow. It took me ages to get them back in good condition so if I did paint them now it would only be for a really special occasion and then I would be more inclined to be vigilant about look after nail health and treat with oils etc. When my nails looked ugly after chemo I managed to find a pair of closed toe strappy sandals.

icelollycraving · 25/07/2019 13:14

I do think it’s fine but it’s a good reflection on how I’m taking care of myself. When I do a nice pedicure, they look and feel better because frankly I have rough gnarly old trotters.
It’s an odd idea though isn’t it? To add a paint to a bit of your body that’s essentially dead. So yes, I like to pretty up my corpse toes but don’t feel you need to.

TrendyNorthLondonTeen · 25/07/2019 13:15

I have NEVER painted my toenails. But then I wouldn't be caught dead wearing sandals either.

formerbabe · 25/07/2019 13:16

Always painted. Looks awful without. It takes two minutes. This is a particular bug bear of mine Grin

JacquesHammer · 25/07/2019 13:16

The only person’s nails I’m bothered about are mine.

I absolutely hate mine and therefore paint them year round.

I don’t think I’ve ever noticed whether someone else has painted toes or not!

formerbabe · 25/07/2019 13:18

I make a reasonable amount of effort with my appearance (hair done regularly, lip fillers, wear makeup etc) but wouldn't think twice about going out with no nail polish on my toes

Why go to the bother and expense of lip fillers but not bother to spend a quid on a bottle of varnish and two minutes to paint your toe nails? Confused

JPK1510 · 25/07/2019 13:18

always have painted toes and fingernails don’t feel right without it at all! I do think women should be groomed.

silverystream · 25/07/2019 13:19

Looks awful without. It takes two minutes.

Not if your nails are in good condition. Nail varnish can ruin them.

JacquesHammer · 25/07/2019 13:20

I do think women should be groomed

Why though?

You “groom” you if you want, don’t buy into the societal pressures already directed solely at women.

silverystream · 25/07/2019 13:20

I do think women should be groomed.

But you can be groomed without being painted.

Tweetingmagpie · 25/07/2019 13:22

It’s fine! No one needs to punt any part of their body unless they want to.

I hardly ever paint my toenails and I like the way they look painted and you can get lovely colours, but I prefer mine natural, but I have nice feet!
