Threw a bucket of water over the patio as need to put another line of clothes out.

After that I'm getting the frozon hot water bottle out the fridge and going to lie down.

Thankyou becca

Horrible here in London
Flat is grim and worse with windows open still - at nearly 10!

Argh. Some days I worry I’ll go mad with a hammer and end up taking the insulation out of the walls.

RosaWaiting · 29/07/2019 21:46

Again, definitely hotter than they said, so while tomorrow should be better, I’m not sure I can believe it.

Becca19962014 · 29/07/2019 22:21

We've had rain but temp still high inside and not great outside either.
Bloody weather.

Apologies for the derail of the thread earlier. I just needed to let my frustrations about someone not understanding my issues with weather out and got carried away!

NeedIceInMyBrain · 30/07/2019 00:35

@HelenaDove that article is horrendous!!! Those poor staff, I would have just refused to go in. Not because I can easily lose a job but because I just physically CAN’T work in those kinds of temperatures, and they need to understand that others can’t do it either.

Ah @Becca19962014 I’m sorry that appointment went so badly, I’ve been accused of having a weather obsession too and it’s easy for people who aren’t affected by it to say that and to mock and patronise. I find myself lately checking the forecast every couple of hours and looking at buildings wondering how hot it must be inside them. I got irrationally angry earlier looking at houses and the bricks they’re made of and thinking how much fucking longer is it going to take before we realise, as a country, that the infrastructure has to adapt.

Another thing that keeps pissing me off is when I say anything or see others say anything negative about the heat, I see/read the response of “Its only for two or three days a year then back to cold and rainy” Is it?? I can’t remember the last time I felt the need for anything long sleeved.

I can’t believe you had so much hassle last year Becca Sad People can be extremely cruel.

HelenaDove · 30/07/2019 02:49

“Its only for two or three days a year then back to cold and rainy” Is it?

Yep The mental gymnastics and the gaslighting is really something else. I remember saying on last years threads that there would be gaslighting over this.

Last years heatwave was MONTHS longer than the Beast from The East was.

Skyejuly · 30/07/2019 08:36

I totally understand. My abusive ex would call me weather obsessed and make me feel crazy :(

LoafofSellotape · 30/07/2019 09:01

Cool here today with a megga breeze! Hope it's not to bad for others. I have washing on so at least I can get it dried on the line.

Becca19962014 · 30/07/2019 10:27

its only for two or three days and then back to grey and rainy

See the thing is here it's been consistently hotter (even according to the fairies) than last year for at least six weeks some times by as little as one degree, last week by over ten. Yet it hasn't always been sunny. It doesn't need to be sunny to be hot, nor does it need to be grey and rainy for it to be cold.

20c for me in sun is pushing my limits. My diabetes is well out of my control as is my other conditions. I get the same shit in the winter - because of my EDS (Ehlers danlos syndrome) my knees bend in several directions and everytime I walk it's like walking on ice so when it gets to winter and actual ice it's horrendous for me. The chance of breaking bones is way higher than anyone else, even older people due to severe joint difficulties. Yet I get crap about being sooo young so I'll be fine...

How many times have I been caught out going out without a coat because it "looked" hot to find it was cold? Plenty. Likewise when it looked cold and wasn't.

Today I need to get food urgently. It looks like the dead of winter (it certainly doesn't feel like it!!!). I'll have to take my spring jacket so I don't get too drenched (as lovely as that would be I can't face comments).

helena last year other posters on these threads really saved my sanity. So many piled on me for being rediculous as our temps were "only" mid 20s and how grateful i should be (in reality it was much higher than that I now realise), telling me to see a dr as there must be something wrong with me and how I needed sedatives because I kept ranting/venting instead of being grateful. I won't go into what I got in my PMs.

RosaWaiting · 30/07/2019 10:52

we have hot rain in London.

LoafofSellotape · 30/07/2019 11:28

Pouring here, properly raining!

Becca19962014 · 30/07/2019 13:18

Pouring here too.
I got drenched!!

LoafofSellotape · 30/07/2019 15:18

Hooray 😂

No watering the garden for me tonight, takes ages as it's a fair size.

You'd think it was autumn here ,I've had to shut all the windows!

lololove · 30/07/2019 16:06

I long for rain, keeping fingers crossed!

I'm really hoping it happens tomorrow, I've got roughly four hours plus on the train to visit family. I want to just see them and snuggle my gorgeous new family member for as long as I can... But they're really outgoing and like to be outside so insist on always taking us out when we visit. (hate it but love them so needs must). Alongside my auto immune issues trying their best to see me off the busy city center and excess heat is not good. If its raining not only will it hopefully be a lot cooler bit they won't insist on going out! (.. I hope!)

Benjispruce · 30/07/2019 16:14

Absolute deluge here. Went to the cinema. Grin

Benjispruce · 30/07/2019 16:14

Hope y”all get some!

HelenaDove · 31/07/2019 18:49

ITV news ten hottest years have occured since 2002

the last really cold year 1963

RosaWaiting · 31/07/2019 19:39

Today’s the first day the flat hasn’t been awful

Winter 1963 gives me an ear worm - Life in a Northern Town. My dad told me about that winter but he was young then and didn’t mind so much.

Sis and I were saying we really might have to move north in future, she works there a lot but I have no knowledge. Could probably get a nice cool house though!

Becca19962014 · 01/08/2019 12:39

Fucking 25c here again today.

Saw Dr as really struggling with seizures and mh.
Was told its "just the weather" and nothing can be done.

Can't put in words how fed up I feel.
Not just with weather but everything, every sodding thing.

I wish someone in RL understood.
Just one person.

Sad
LoafofSellotape · 01/08/2019 13:26

Really muggy here today, urghhh!

LiveandBreathe · 01/08/2019 17:40

Just eaten two ice lollies, the feeling of cold is practically orgasmic.

The portable air con from China is good for nowt. The fan hits the inside so it makes a loud rattle. Its going back. I also don't like the effects- the cold makes my throat tight and wheezy (I have lung disease). I think I'll get another mini fan. Looking up neck things now.

RosaWaiting · 01/08/2019 18:13

Live what’s the unit like? Is it quite big?

LoafofSellotape · 01/08/2019 22:53

Air cons are noisy, even my DeLonghi expensive one is. I don't use it unless desperate as it makes me feel worse going from cool to hot quickly.

I went for a walk this evening,it was 22 and muggy and I got a bit light headed, had to sit down for a bit. I don't think I drank enough today.

RosaWaiting · 01/08/2019 23:22

I seriously looked at proper air con fitting today
The price is eye watering but I know someone who has it in a similar build flat. She had 21c on the hottest day of the year. It’s quiet as well.

The management company previously said to me that it couldn’t be done here but I wonder if they are right. Maybe I should get someone in for a free quote. It’s pretty much guaranteed that the weather will cool if I fit it, right? 😂
