Threw a bucket of water over the patio as need to put another line of clothes out.

After that I'm getting the frozon hot water bottle out the fridge and going to lie down.

I could cry from relief after yesterday, which was torture. I think it's still muggy, I haven't braved looking at the weather reports yet but there's a breeze - and it's no longer high 30s. I'm still groggy but back to the low level headache. Yesterday I felt like death.

Spent yesterday evening wrapped in a wet towel and had to sleep/doze on the sofa.

I'm going to get to the shops and get some fresh air after being holed up indoors for several days.

Benjispruce · 26/07/2019 15:25

Horrible word.

LoafOfSellotape · 26/07/2019 16:03

Horrible word? Not horrible landlord?

Benjispruce · 26/07/2019 16:12

Of course horrible landlord. Just can't stand hearing or seeing that word. Dislike the use of a crude word for female anatomy being used as an insult.
Typed out loud without much thought.Anyway, as you were.

Benjispruce · 26/07/2019 16:13

I typed out loud I mean.

LoafOfSellotape · 26/07/2019 16:16

I think a lot of thought was put into describing the LL and it was very apt imo. We use male anatomy to describe men as well ,just luck of the draw which one trips off my tongue at any given time Wink

Skyejuly · 26/07/2019 16:38

29 in suffolk

OldAndWornOut · 26/07/2019 16:58

Its really hot here, but admittedly slightly better than yesterday.
I think its 'only' 28 degrees.

fortheloveofPete · 26/07/2019 17:01

I think it's a fantastic word and should be used more often until it no longer causes so much offence.

Being called a dick is the male equivalent but yet is not taken so seriously as it's used so often.

Anyway, back to topic, 24 here and much more bareable

Last night was difficult and it showed at work as everyone was snappy with a couple of arguments breaking out. (This is not normal for our place as it's usually very professional)

Hope posters get some sleep tonight.

Benjispruce · 26/07/2019 17:02

Fair enough Loaf but as a woman myself I don't like to use words pertaining to women, in a derogatory way.

LoafOfSellotape · 26/07/2019 17:19

That's ok,don't use them then.

I think prick is the equivalent and isn't exactly complimentary.

Anyway, back on topic, it's about 25 ish here and muggy but so bearable compared to yesterday. We're going to have a BBQ later on.

yulet · 26/07/2019 17:25

Cunt is too mild a word for that landlord. Un-fucking-believable.

LoafOfSellotape · 26/07/2019 17:26

It makes me feel ill just imagining how bad it must've been yesterday with windows shut. How is that legal?

Benjispruce · 26/07/2019 17:34

Although I have to say I think i made things worse yesterday because I was home and so opened all the doors and windows. The day before I was at work and kept blinds and windows closed apart from the small ones and the house felt cool. Not that the LL is in any way let off the hook. I can't stand not being able to open a window. What about the fire risk??

LoafOfSellotape · 26/07/2019 17:47

Yes ,the fire risk , surely?

Asta19 · 26/07/2019 17:54

Well yes, dodgy landlords aside. It is much better to keep windows and curtains shut on a day like yesterday. That’s what I did in the living room and it stayed 30 in there. Still hot, but it didn’t go to 38! Today everything is open. There is no “fresh air” to let in when it’s above 30. Just stifling heat. I think it’s a psychological thing that makes people want the windows open when it’s so hot but sometimes it just makes it worse.

peridito · 26/07/2019 18:43

But doesn't sun shining on glass create a green house effect ?

Can see keeping windows not in sun shut would be good idea but where the sun is shining onto a window doesn't it increase the temp directly inside to above that outside ?

Benjispruce · 26/07/2019 18:46

I guess it does a little so keep curtains shut too. I don’t practise what I preach Wink

Asta19 · 26/07/2019 18:55

Yes that’s why you keep the curtains shut! That is an important part of it Grin it helps if, like me, you have very thick heavy lined curtains. I did actually put my hand on the lining yesterday to see how hot it was and it was very hot! I originally bought them to keep heat in, in winter but they work well for keeping heat out too.

LoafOfSellotape · 26/07/2019 18:59

But you want windows open at night, when it's cooler, just nit on the day.

Raining here,hooray!!!

LoafOfSellotape · 26/07/2019 18:59

**not

Asta19 · 26/07/2019 19:25

I am very specific about my window and curtain routine in the summer! I know exactly where the sun hits and when, and I check the hour by hour forecast to check when it’s hotter outside than in! I can’t just open windows recklessly Grin Then in my room, where I have the portable air con, it’s a balance of which will keep the room cooler, having the air con on overnight (which means the window needs to be closed) or keeping it off and having the window open. Which then necessitates checking night time temperatures!

HelenaDove · 26/07/2019 19:46

Oh @yulet it gets better They put the service charge up 59% beforehand

HelenaDove · 26/07/2019 22:06

Still hot in the Sanctuary Sweatbucket. I do NOT believe its going to be 20 tomorrow Having to keep an eye on the fridge freezer as its so unbearable in here

Seriously thinking of sleeping in the communal hallway tonight on top of an old bedcover on the nice stone floor. With a bucket next to me in casei need to pee.

LoafofSellotape · 27/07/2019 00:37

Pissing down here and properly cool. Just turned the fan off and I can't believe last night was so steamy! Might get a decent night's sleep tonight.
