Threw a bucket of water over the patio as need to put another line of clothes out.

After that I'm getting the frozon hot water bottle out the fridge and going to lie down.

Shouldn't it start to cool off soon so we get the temps predicted tomorrow? Still in the 30s here!! No cloud never mind predicted storms. Feeling very unwell.

peridito · 25/07/2019 16:54

@Princessfaffalot do hope you're ok ,maybe effects of last night's seizure ?Flowers

Glad DH is on the case .

Becca19962014 · 25/07/2019 16:56

Today's fiction by the "weather experts"

Met office - 27c
BBC - 27c
Local reading (2 miles away) - 23c (and raining heavily)
Accuweather - 32c (realfeel 35)

Accuweather definitely the closest.
It's easily 35c if not higher. I've no idea what the local lot are on... I thought the metoffice and BBC were far out but that's just rediculous!!!

Inside is heading for 26c. Really concerned now for my meds and equipment, it all says to be kept below 25c and not in the fridge (not that I could put the equipment in there anyway).

I keep looking at lightning maps but the storms are all heading away.

Stupid bloody weather.
Just stop now.

Crikey it's all kicking off now - mental health team have turned up for my neighbour to force her to mindfulness class (which stupidly now run from 5pm until 8:30pm with 30 min break) and aren't taking no for an answer and threatening her with police if she doesn't calm down and go (she's screaming at them). It'll be fucking boiling in that building (it's mostly glass and like a greenhouse at the best of times) and she's screaming it's too hot - which it definitely is and they've told her she's got to dress "properly". I don't like her at all but am feeling really sorry for her right now no one should be forced into that oven of a building. Especially as the sodding temperature just keeps climbing here.

Becca19962014 · 25/07/2019 17:00

princess it can also be a wierd effect of heat exposure/exhaustion as well. So keep sipping the water.

If you can get a cold flannel on your head. I suggest for the future though it feels like the end of the world here right now you get some Kool and soothe strips - they're for migraines but can really help with seizures as well. I use them every day of the year at least once, currently getting through a pack a day.

Becca19962014 · 25/07/2019 17:01

It's 5pm. Where's my thunderstorm and downpour

Police are here now for the woman next door. That'll be a nice calming session tonight then Confused

Minai · 25/07/2019 17:02

My baby’s room is 30c. He woke up from his nap crying and drenched in sweat. I know babies survive hotter temperatures elsewhere in the world but I’m so worried he’s going to die. I have postnatal anxiety and this is really stressing me out

fortheloveofPete · 25/07/2019 17:06

Tempting fate here, but temp is beginning to drop....I'm trying and failing not to get too excited.

MadisonAvenue · 25/07/2019 17:11

I didn't realise how well I'd managed to cool the house down, as I was still sweating, until my friend called round and I opened the door to her Shock

Princessfaffalot · 25/07/2019 17:15

It’s probably a combination of last nights seizure and the heat. But just feeling very spaced out and off, still have goosebumps! Dh has helpfully suggested dominos in a bit, I’m sure that’ll perk me up! I’m also far too fat for this heat but sadly haven’t lost my appetite!

Princessfaffalot · 25/07/2019 17:17

Oh god your poor neighbour. I can’t think of anything worse than sitting in a hot room with a bunch of strangers trying to practice mindfulness! It’s very grey and windy here, still very hot though.

Benjispruce · 25/07/2019 17:19

My car says 38c! Lots of wind but it’s really hot wind. I am sitting by a fan. So glad it ends tomorrow .

LoafOfSellotape · 25/07/2019 17:20

Hot wind here too. I'm just getting tea together then I'm having a cool shower

Benjispruce · 25/07/2019 17:22

I’m not cooking anything until it cools down. Salad it is!

cavalier · 25/07/2019 17:22

Got feet in a bowl of cold water 👍 keeping me sane lol
It’s just too much

Benjispruce · 25/07/2019 17:23

Oh and my dear old mum was right about running the inside of your wrists under cold water to cool down. It’s bliss.

ThighsRelief · 25/07/2019 17:28

Minai have you got him in only a nappy? Do you have any fans for his room? I've just had a cool bath, maybe some playing in the bath before bed?

Benjispruce · 25/07/2019 17:28

Oh minai I remember a very hot summer in 2004 when my DD was a baby. Just strip them off to nappy only and can you set a fan near them? Maybe naps need to happen in a different room or out of routine in this heat. What age are they? Could you get them playing in a cool bath?

HelenaDove · 25/07/2019 17:36

I put ON weight in last years heatwave because of eating cold food bread cereal ice cream choc ices yoghurts.

we get another heatwave im going to live on slim fast shakes and muller lights.

Minai · 25/07/2019 17:39

Thanks @ThighsRelief and @Benjispruce

Yes I’ve got him in just a nappy at the moment. I’ve got a tower fan so I’ll put it in his room tonight with some ice in front of it. Hopefully that will help. He’s 7 months and I also have a just turned 2 year old who isn’t coping well either so it’s a bit stressful at the moment! Will chuck them both in the bath once they’ve had dinner.

Benjispruce · 25/07/2019 17:51

That’s good minai and even some water play inside with some cups etc will cool them . Just set lots of towels down. if you can be around supervising obviously.

ClaraLane · 25/07/2019 18:27

Oh Minai, please try not to worry but I know it’s easier said than done. How old is your baby?

I fucking hate this weather. I’m on my period too so I’m even more short-tempered and grumpy than normal. 2 YO toddler won’t sleep until stupidly late and I’m bloody exhausted. I’m sick of eating ice creams and drinking water. I miss wearing socks. I need to go shopping but don’t have the energy to meal plan. I just want it to rain!

HelenaDove · 25/07/2019 18:29

There are some real goady fucker sociopaths on that thread about employers and air con in AIBU

HelenaDove · 25/07/2019 18:36

emergency services are working flat out Its funny how the goady fuckers forget about this when it comes to sun but are happy to remind overweight ppl how much they cost the NHS the rest of the time. I wonder how many ambulances have visited Amazon warehouses this week.

OldAndWornOut · 25/07/2019 18:51

Oh! I'm off to get goaded. Grin

MotherofPearl · 25/07/2019 19:40

Survived 43c in Paris today, though by God it was not pleasant. Spent the morning at nearby air conditioned shopping mall browsing shops and eating ice cream, and then the afternoon resting in the air conditioned hotel room. But walking between the two! The heat took your breath away, really felt like an oven. "Only" 30c tomorrow which, after today, seems like a blessed relief.

Continuing to count down till autumn.
