Anyone else with me?!

Nutty has described the things I love about Autumn perfectly. The warming, comforting foods are my favourite Smile

I'm not much of a walker though I should be but I'm lazy but Autumn really spurs me on to walk places. DS's school is a 45 min walk away so we drive. But in the Autumn I love to walk across the bridge over the little stream and through the field which has a path lined with trees. I love the colours of the leaves and the crisp Autumn air. Looking forward to doing that after the summer hols.

Yes, I love Autumn, it’s my favourite season! 🍁 I always look forward to the August bank holiday as the nights visibly start to pull in, the kids are on the cusp of going back to school...and I can’t wait to cosy up in the looooong dark nights! 🌌 I love drawing my curtains at 4pm 🙂

Then the countdown is on to Hallowe’en 🎃, Bonfire Night🔥 and then Christmas 🎄

I'm still waiting for summer to kick in. It's been an awful summer term weather wise with lots of cold wet days. Sports day and family fun day had to be cancelled due to torrential rain and waterlogged sites. Yesterday I needed a jacket and long trousers to go shopping. Bring on the actual hot sunny days that are so few and far between. I'd banish autumn and winter to room 101 if I could along with their dark, damp, lurgey ridden depressingness. It sucks being shut up in the house from 4pm, having to put on a gazillion itchy layers to go out, mud everywhere, scraping ice off the car to go to work. All this crisp leaves and sparkling frosts stuff is holiday brochure romanticism.

Delatron · 21/07/2019 16:35

Yes the increase in colds and flu and all other illnesses doing the rounds at that time
of year is so depressing. I also hate getting up on the dark. I have so much more energy in summer.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 21/07/2019 16:37

I'd like some summer first, but Autumn fashion is my favourite.

TapasForTwo · 21/07/2019 22:36

I suspect the autumn lovers live in areas where they actually get hot summer weather and crisp autumn days. As we get very few of the former and even fewer of the latter I can say categorically that I am not looing forward to the cold, damp gloom, driving to and from work in the dark and general feeling of sadness that I get when light levels are low.

ExpletiveDelighted · 21/07/2019 22:59

You need to move down south Tapas. September is usually glorious here.

TapasForTwo · 21/07/2019 23:06

I would love to Expletive
I was born and bred darn sarf, but I followed my heart and emigrated to Yorkshire.

ExpletiveDelighted · 21/07/2019 23:19

Whereas I'm from a Yorkshire family but am firmly stuck in the south and can't see us being able to move unless it's after retirement. I do love Yorkshire.

Blinkingblimey · 21/07/2019 23:21

I’ve realised recently that the last 3 summers I have had truly terrible anxiety (caveat - this is not formally diagnosed as the one time I got the courage to go to the gp she was so horrible I was in an even worse state for weeks after so never went back!) - the rest of the year I can pretty much keep myself together but come May I start to crumble🤷🏼‍♀️....bring on the end of the holidays and a return to routine (& yes, I hate myself for saying that!)

sanityisamyth · 21/07/2019 23:24

I hate autumn. The colours are pretty but everything is dying and slowing down for winter. It starts getting cold, damp, slippery and dark. I can't understand why anyone likes it.

Is it really that hard to understand that some of us might just prefer the cooler seasons?

TapasForTwo · 22/07/2019 08:06

Trendy on every thread where posters love autumn they always complain about the heat, so I think it is fair to say that they probably don't have the same summer weather that we do. So far this year we have had a handful of very warm days and one very hot day where it was over 25 degrees. June was a total washout BTW.

I get that not everyone enjoys hot weather, but honestly it just hasn't been that hot where I live.

AguerosAngel · 22/07/2019 08:10

Not me. Absolutely 100% not.

I have a chronic illness that’s made worse by the cold and damp (and yes I know it rains in Summer) so I spend pretty much the end of September in agony and completely miserable.

Autumn also means fucking Christmas is on its way too!

Fibbke · 22/07/2019 08:14

Love Autumn but hate Winter!

BlueJag · 22/07/2019 08:21

What summer? I'm still waiting for it.

I live in Scotland, and by most people's standards it's never "hot". It does, however, get too hot for me on occasion (like right now when it's pissing down but it's still fucking disgusting and warm and clammy). I don't think I need to be living on the surface of the sun to not like warm weather!

My favourite kind of weather is when it's sunny and dry but FREEZING cold.

Emmabryant123 · 22/07/2019 08:23

tapas
I like weather 10c and under
This winter gone we had a handful of days I needed a coat . I don't need one until we get to 5c and under
We haven't had a day below 20c for ages and I am struggling so just stop !
Stop judging others for hating the heat as it's all just coming out as jealously

ineedanotherholiday · 22/07/2019 08:25

Yes!!

I've probably got another round of hot days, bbqs etc left in me but then I'm ready. Autumn is my favourite, crisp mornings, the colours, the smell in the air, Halloween, bonfire. I absolutely love it Grin

Jellystars · 22/07/2019 08:30

I do enjoy summer but Autumn is definitely my favourite.

TapasForTwo · 22/07/2019 08:38

It is jealousy Emmabryant Grin
I bet your heating bills are very low.

Emmabryant123 · 22/07/2019 08:41

Problem is I am entitled not whine and to not like it just because you do !

Emmabryant123 · 22/07/2019 08:42

We have storage heaters and a 3 year old so during winter there actually v high as I keep the place warm for her even though it means I'm to hot indoors :)

Emmabryant123 · 22/07/2019 08:43

We also really struggle with money 😠 so your comment to me is another jealously filled ridiculous comment

TapasForTwo · 22/07/2019 08:44

Yes Grin
