Autumn is great but I’m really enjoying summer this year.

CoffeeBeam · 19/07/2019 09:49

elves and sally ahhh, i get you, I do love summer (all the seasons actually), but where I am we've had a really early summer and the weather's been great so I feel like I Ive happily hit my sunshine quota!

dinoeggz yes, I also associate autumn with fresh starts, new books, and stationary. I love it

Does anyone look at autumn aesthetic boards on Pinterest lol

No, I don’t mind the cosy dark evenings either.

Ellapaella · 19/07/2019 09:56

I do love autumn but won't start looking forward to it just yet. Come early September when the kids go back to school I will.
I love summer - up here in the north east it's rarely too hot, I live at the coast so daily trips to the beach and light evenings are just fantastic.

Also love autumn though.. the colours of trees and leaves, crispy cool evenings and mornings but mild daytimes. I get excited about buying new winter boots and coats.

toastfiend · 19/07/2019 10:02

Me. I'm really not a fan of summer. I like warm weather for maybe 2 weeks, then I'm done. I hate being too hot and sweaty all the time, don't like summer clothes much, the dogs are miserable and can't go out for proper walks and now I've got baby DS and his sleep goes to shit when it's hot and we're up every hour throughout the night because he's so unsettled and wants to feed all the time because he's thirsty. It's crap. Roll on Autumn! My favourite season. Great clothes, happy dogs, you can snuggle up and be cosy at home. I love it!

IntoValhalla · 19/07/2019 10:05

Yes yes yes! So much yes!

Autumn is my favourite season!! I’m due baby number 3 in September, I have my birthday, DC2’s birthday, Halloween, pumpkin picking etc what’s not to love?! We also have a big American community where I live, so there’s usually some really lovely family activities and events centred around their Thanksgiving celebrations and some absolutely mega Halloween celebrations too Grin
Plus as it starts to get darker in the evenings my kids might actually accept that it’s bedtime and not have a million arguements about how it can’t possibly be bedtime because it’s still sunny outside Hmm

BibbleBrain · 19/07/2019 10:06

Hell yeah. Love autumn and love none sweaty breastfeeds (TMI?)

Nicecupofcoco · 19/07/2019 10:12

I do love autumn! My fave time if year! Love the leaves when they crunch as you walk on them! Every where looks so pretty on a crisp autumn day!
Also my hayfevers been bad this year! So I can't wait to see the back of summer this time!

DinosApple · 19/07/2019 10:20

Nope.

I've worked 6 or 7 days a week for 18 months, I missed the 6 week heatwave last year, the long evenings, the warm days.

I've got 4 days booked off next week and I want sun and heat!

CarolineCoffeemugs · 19/07/2019 10:22

I certainly am, as summer comes to a close I like to nurture my inner Grinch and take scissors to all the annoying inflatable toys that have piled up for summer. They don't get any use outside of summer so I get to go on a gleeful popping spree, and there's some around right now that I really can't wait to get my claws into Grin

Isthisnecessary · 19/07/2019 10:23

Me and the rain today is a glorious reminder as whats to come.

I hate summer and everything about it.

HeadintheiClouds · 19/07/2019 10:24

Do you replace them every summer, Caroline? Why?

CarolineCoffeemugs · 19/07/2019 10:39

@HeadintheiClouds Inflatable toys tend to build up every summer after trips to the beach or the if any holiday aboard happens that summer. They don't cost that much, and I've found they go stale/dirty after a few months packed away in the shed. As for why; it's a bit of cathartic fun after a summer of overinflated, squeaking toys bopping about the place. Used to be before I had to sneak a puncture into a particularly annoying toy, but now the house knows mommy gets her hands on any air-filled objects at the end of the summer.

HeadintheiClouds · 19/07/2019 10:43

Unnecessary use of plastic. Maybe stop buying so many? They’re not designed to be single use.

motheroftinydragons · 19/07/2019 10:46

Yes! I love autumn.

Seasons ranked from best to worst:

Autumn
Spring
Winter
Summer

MyMelodie · 19/07/2019 10:47

I love autumn! I love the changes in the light, the cool rain, the colours, candles, fairy lights and wearing boots 🍁🍄🍂

NoSauce · 19/07/2019 10:48

Love it, when the temperature drops and the leaves are red and gold and there’s a different smell in the air. I get the fur throws out along with the candles and shit.

🍁🍂🐿🦔

mumderland · 19/07/2019 10:48

Yes autumn is my favourite season! I hate summer, it's too hot, muggy and far too many bugs flying around!

Crunchymum · 19/07/2019 10:55

Used to love summer but now I'm older, fatter and have kids who hate the warm weather (and a weeny garden!!) I dread it.

Wednesday is meant to be 32c here in London Shock

I adore autumn, not least as its when the kids go back Smile

JaneJeffer · 19/07/2019 10:59

No. I would live in July permanently if I could.

LucheroTena · 19/07/2019 10:59

I love autumn. The colours, mists, air, and it’s such an exciting season of festivities. Autumn clothes are so much more flattering too.

I feel like we have been getting very long summers and winters that drag over (respectively) into autumn and spring and have shortened / muddied those much lovelier seasons.

EnidButton · 19/07/2019 13:06

Yes! I absolutely love it. Spring is a close second but Autumn is my favourite time of year. I can't wait.

When do the shops get their Autumn stuff in? I've noticed a few bits arriving already but still lots of Summer clothes. I know it's usually very early.

Dowser · 19/07/2019 13:15

It’s raining today
Had to cancel our trip to the arboretum
Rain in summer is bad enough...
No way am I looking forward to autumn

CaMePlaitPas · 19/07/2019 13:26

I think there is definitely a romanticised version of Autumn. Some years September and even October have been as warm as July and August. Last Autumn it started raining on the 1st September and pretty much didn't stop. Leaves fall on the ground and then become slippery making it dangerous, it's grey all day and then gets dark at 4.30pm, the same banal crap too-sweet Autumn flavours (pumpkin spice latte, cinder toffee) arrive and every one starts talking about Christmas before Halloween, Firework Night and Remembrance Day. Nah thanks.

HeadintheiClouds · 19/07/2019 13:32

Even if nothing happens bar the temperature dropping at least 15 degrees, I’ll still take it. Rain and all, if I have to.
