This is bad isn't it? - House Selling

My mum has had her house on the market since February and is struggling to sell as it's a really unusual home and perhaps not everyone's cup of tea. It is one of 3 houses of the same style on drive and yesterday her NDN said they were also putting their house on the market Shock. It's very similar to my mum's house (same architect designed it). The EA tried to put a positive spin on it and say if people were coming to see NDN it might attract more attention for my mum's but in reality, you'd think they were both selling for some reason wouldn't you? Either something up with the house or something happening in the local area? My poor mum is so stressed about it all and we just want it sold Sad.

It's fabulous !

scattercushion · 28/06/2019 11:43

Wow it's gorgeous. I'd buy it.

An amazing beautiful house

Quartz2208 · 28/06/2019 11:44

Its expensive for a 3 bed house in the area - you would have to really love it to want to spend that amount on it. A search of the local area shows houses that are much cheaper

CharlotteFlax · 28/06/2019 11:44

It's amazing!

LoafofSellotape · 28/06/2019 11:45

I don't like modern homes but would happily live there,oh wow!

People don't tend to look at houses now as they are off on holiday so it might take a bit longer.

Its an amazing house and has a sixties vibe but looks very comfortable. How do the two house prices compare? If the ndn has modernised and is bigger then your mum may need to lower her price to reflect that.

WhiteDust · 28/06/2019 11:45

WOW!!!! That is an amazing house!
It will sell!. I think higher priced houses sit for longer in some areas. Just the nature of the market.
I wish I had 500k.

Namechange170518 · 28/06/2019 11:46

I'd buy it!

celtiethree · 28/06/2019 11:46

That’s a lovely house definitely the type I’d buy !! Can’t believe it hasn’t sold. Good luck to your mum. The only suggestion I have is that it must be the price.

BettyBooJustDoinTheDoo · 28/06/2019 11:46

I think it’s a stunning house and the setting is beautiful! That very modern look is not to everyone’s taste though so that probably limits your market somewhat, if it was my house there are changes I would want to make as I would go full James Bond style on it! but there is nothing that would put me off, a great blank canvas.

rickandmorts · 28/06/2019 11:46

Yes exactly Quart we are in West Yorkshire where houses are generally cheaper so it doesn't really fit in with the local area. She has had feedback that the upstairs isn't big enough but she's had planning approved and has drawings of an extension but doesn't need to do this as she is downsizing. Basically the house is like a lego house and bits can be added on top so would be fairly easy to extend!

I have to say I think the house is beautiful, I would definitely live there. I can’t even imagine what the negative comments were.

LesLavandes · 28/06/2019 11:47

Omg. I love it. It is a wonderful house. Just be patient. Your buyer will arrive. Thank you for sharing this beautiful home

rickandmorts · 28/06/2019 11:48

But thanks for the feedback everyone. Is there anything screamingly obvious that she needs to do to sell? Apart from lower the price?

cittigirl · 28/06/2019 11:48

I love it

AbGonk · 28/06/2019 11:48

I love it and it's well decorated too.

Newspaper comments sections attract the worst of humanity.

picklemepopcorn · 28/06/2019 11:49

Really lovely, and great that she has kept the 60s vibe.

It's expensive, though. For Huddersfield. So you'll need to wait for the right buyer.

ANiceLuxury · 28/06/2019 11:49

That is not a hideous house!!!! There is nothing wrong with it.

I think it’s lovely

mrsmoppp · 28/06/2019 11:50

That house is stunning. It has character not like all the new builds we have these days.

LittleMissCwtch · 28/06/2019 11:51

It's beautiful and unique so it's a matter of the right buyer coming along as it's not your run of the mill house.

I used to live near there and unfortunately it's very expensive for the area so that will put people off, but it's the kind of house that just needs the right person to see it, it wouldn't put me off if the house next to it was for sale.

balancingfigure · 28/06/2019 11:51

I think it’s great and would love it.

I live in a relatively expensive area and that still seems quite a high price for a 3 bed even though it’s fantastic. Don’t know that area but if little interest since February it may be that the price needs dropping further.

Hecketyheck · 28/06/2019 11:53

OH.MY.WORD....that is about my dream home - just....you know, Huddersfield - it's about as far from us as you could wish to be (West Country!). It will sell. Don't worry. Everything sells eventually (former estate agent here). You might have to drop the price a bit, but it will sell.

Can I just say again, I absolutely love it - it's beautiful.

WipeYourFeetOnTheRhythmRug · 28/06/2019 11:53

It’s stunning. It’s so beautifully designed. Hope your mum sells it quickly OP.
