What is the name of my DS nursery friend?

DS is 2 nearly 3. His speach is (usually) very articulate. He has never really had "baby talk"

He has been talking about his new friend at nursery. He loves playing with her. He wants her to come for tea. That's great. Except he says her name is Pancake. Which obviously cannot be the case. So what is her name??

Chaos is an awesome name! It would suit my DS to a tee.

He came home from Reception talking about his new friend Garage. Turned out to be Gareth. But Gin at nursery really was called Gin! (She's Chinese).

Pancake is a daft name that parents think will be so cute but they forget that cute little children have to grow up.

AfterSchoolWorry · 25/06/2019 09:46

Panka.

DD has a friend called Hatchimal, who everyone else calls Fatima.

Love the idea of a little Pancake.

Sibling Maple-Syrup?

Iris1654 · 25/06/2019 10:00

I’d guess it’s a pet name, no harm if she likes it.

Keith is an awful name! It needs to die out along with Barry.

wibbletooth · 25/06/2019 10:05

Ds has a best friend in reception called Three Horn. When I pushed a bit more he said it was short for Three Horned...Hmm

Turned out it was Rehan - luckily his mum became a good friend and recognised that ds adored his friend rather than being malicious about his name but ds didn’t even believe her that the name was Rehan not Three Horn. ConfusedGrin

JeSuisPrest · 25/06/2019 10:06

DD was sure her friend was called Paignton like the seaside resort. It was Peyton.

IncognitoIsMyFavouriteWord · 25/06/2019 10:08

Patrick?

CaptainMyCaptain · 25/06/2019 10:10

DGS (age 7 with intermittent hearing problems) said there was a boy in his class called Lucy and explained that his parents didn't know if he was a boy or a girl when he was born (!). The boy is called Lewis and has always been a boy.

TheRLodger · 25/06/2019 10:10

I think Keith and similar names are making a bit of a comeback because they want they’re dc to be named after their dgf

Jamhandprints · 25/06/2019 10:15

Wow! Grin

Hillbillyhotel · 25/06/2019 10:18

This thread has made me really laugh. DS has a nursery teacher called Hisibah. It confused me for months. Elizabeth. She’s called Elizabeth.

HoobleDooble · 25/06/2019 10:32

Try and guess how many times I got my godson to tell me his reception class teacher's name before my friend told me it was actually Mrs Foottit Grin

LimitIsUp · 25/06/2019 11:52

Am loving Orson being referred to as Awesome

FurryDogMother · 25/06/2019 12:30

I'm feeling my age (60) now. To me, Keith and Peter are perfectly ordinary names. Pancake is not!

Myusernameismud · 25/06/2019 12:38

DD was about 3 when she kept talking about Awesome Vinegar, 'that man who's something about football'.

She meant Arsene Wenger

EnchentButteler · 25/06/2019 12:44

My DD came home from dance saying she'd made 2 friends called Esha. Given I hadn't ever met any at that point in my life I thought it highly unlikely both had the same name in the same small (20) class. But turns out 1 was Esha and one was Nesha so to be fair they're pretty identical in sound!

But Pancake Grin I did hear Tuppence at soft play once.

CistusRose · 25/06/2019 12:48

When dd was in year 7 she had a Keith and a Barry in her year.

KindergartenKop · 25/06/2019 12:48

My son had a friend called Lemonade but disappointingly she turned out to be called Renee.

I was looking at a list of teenagers' middle names the other day and it was wall to wall Margarets, Annes, Alans and Johns. I asked them and they were named after grandparents.

womaninthedark · 25/06/2019 12:49

Aww, that's so unfair. Poor Bazzer.

LennieLou · 25/06/2019 12:50

This thread has made me LOL

Enko · 25/06/2019 12:50

I really like Keith as a name not shocked at Pancake but I wouldn't have done it.

Celebelly · 25/06/2019 12:52

I hope the baby Paul mentioned earlier has a brother called Barry so they can be known as the Chuckle Brothers.

Chickenitalia · 25/06/2019 13:00

Dd had a friend called elephant at nursery. He moved to school a year before her, on the first day she started school she dashed excitedly up to him shouting elephant, elephant. Unfortunately for dd, he was a big lad and it didn’t go down well.

Dd and Elliot can at least laugh about it 6 years on 😁
